SUBSLP001 Back To The Machine – Current Value Subsistenz 12″ Vinyl x 5
Subsistenz is more than proud to be releasing an album that has been anticipated by Subheadz all over this rock and hailed by many as a benchmark release within a scene that is still developing and carving out its own unique style. Current Value has been pushing dnb to its limits with his industrial marching sound, always raising the bar in production and programming. Now with his first techno influenced album we see the master of darkness take a u-turn back to his roots of deep machine-based music and applying his theories and craft to the modern sound of techno! Techno will always be about machine noises and this album personifies one machine in particular the Nord Modular G2. Current Value with his in-depth knowledge of sound design has put this beast of a synth through its paces – creating an album of unique twisted atmospheres and energies with that straight-out-of-the-box sound that
Current Value masters so well. 98% of Back to the Machine is modular G2-based, injecting a new breed of techno that carries the old dancefloor philosophies with a 22nd century sound. With over 15 tracks to be released for this album writing about what all have going for them would read like the early manual from an Akai sampler. GEN175002 Crossbreed Definition Series Part 1 – The Outside Agency / SPL / Cooh One Seven Five 12″ Vinyl
The Outside Agency’s DJ Hidden & Eye D continue to define and refine their drum & bass/hardcore crossover sound with this second release on Genosha One Seven Five: The Crossbreed Definition Series Part 1. This series will feature collaborations between The Outside Agency and some of the leading names in hardedged drum & bass. For this one they teamed up with heavyweights SPL and Cooh. Separate Ways with SPL is moody track with razor sharp drums that effortlessly moves back and forth between offbeat drum & bass and rolling hardcore while never losing its flow. The middle section of this Separate Way harkens back to the early, simpler days of hardcore when less was more. Soul Keepers with Cooh has a somewhat misleading title as it doesn’t have much in the way of soul. What it does have is unrelenting, pounding snaredrums that have taken the place of the kickdrums. You’ll have to hear it to believe it. They didn’t completely forget about the kicks, of course. Just like Separate Ways on the flip, this track features a middle section that flirts heavily with the way hardcore used to be: simple and effective. To sum it all up this is another multifunctional release on One Seven Five that should appeal to fans of hardedged drum & bass and hardcore alike. Pick up your copy now and start confusing the competition.
DJ support by: Counterstrike, The DJ Producer, Donny, The Outside Agency, SPL, Ophidian, The Panacea, Mark N, Cooh, Mindustries, Limewax and more.

New DnB Promos

REDSEAL005 Judgement Day EP – Calibre Samurai Red Seal 12″ Vinyl x 2
Limited Edition Red Vinyl promo. In a coup of epic proportions, New Zealand imprint Samurai Red Seal has managed to obtain 4 exclusive tracks from the prolific musical genius that is Ireland’s Dominick Martin aka Calibre. In 2009 the third release on Red Seal was a 12” single from Calibre – ‘Ringtone’/’Jackoff’ (REDSEAL003) which was a massive success with DJs from around the globe.
There was only one thing we could think of to follow that up, and that was twice the amount of music. As Calibre’s legions of followers will attest the man has endless styles and the ‘Judgement Day’ EP attempts to capture a different approach with each tune. The title tune ‘Judgement Day’ features the sultry but potent vocals of Samurai Music’s favourite MC/Vocalist DRS, on what can best be described as a stone groove. The vibe gets jagged on the awkward funk of ‘Trust’, a tune that seemingly wriggles it’s rhythm at you! ‘Don’t Want Your Love’ is a tour de force of soulful Drum and Bass, with every element combining into a soaring, rolling groove.
Described by fans as possibly Calibre’s most powerfully emotive tune to date, we advise staying away from this tune during hangovers or relationship break ups. And finally, a proud dancefloor steam-train with a buzz saw reese, ‘Jungle One’ has been floating around in the sets of a chosen few for some time now and finally sees a full release. DJ support on this release has been unanimous, with the likes of Marcus Intalex, DJ Hype, LTJ Bukem, dBridge, DJ Friction, Doc Scott, London Elekricity, Spectrasoul, Cyantific, Nu Tone, Commix, Logistics, Lenzman, Jubei and many more!
“We’ll all beg for forgiveness on judgement day….”

BRD007 Déjà vu / Lithium – Telekinesis Breed 12 Inches 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Another new release, another new talent. Breed 12 Inches’ ear for talent is becoming a cornerstone of the scene, and BRD007 intends to make no change to that. Artists Telekinesis and Kinetik assume the reigns of the latest release, with two iconically large tracks – ‘Deja Vu’ and ‘Lithium’. Working with the develop side at Breed 12 Inches, both production outfits have produced a well engineered 12″ to be proud of, and can now sit back and watch it do damage on a global scale. Already beginning to feature heavily in the rotation from the scenes finest, BRD007 is scheduled for 7th June 2010 full release, with digital release due shortly after. Slovenia’s two brightest young stars tag-team with Kinetik, in a ferociously infective 12″. Sonically prominent, and rhythmically outstanding, BRD007 builds to the Breed 12 Inches back catalogue of impressive artist development, matched by no other label around. ‘Deja Vu’ points towards the kind of tune that most wish they had produced, but few can actually pull off. Aggressive, operatic, rolling, and employing influences from a wealth of outside resources, BRD007′s A-side is the perfect arrival for Telekinesis onto the world platform. Lithium’s vibe and funk-influenced arrangement constitutes to what we would called a ‘proper roller’. A running pace is mapped out by a hot-steppin’ drum track, with a low-end designed to test any system. With the colliding influences from both Telekinesis and Kinetik, the B-side is not to go unheard.

BLR004R Make Or Break / Stampede – Outrage / Digital & Outrage Backlash Records 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Keepin’ it nice and nasty Backlash hits you with their fourth outing for this Summer 2010. Kickin’ things into high gear is the grimy rumble of Outrage’s “Make Or Break”, which builds on a simply effective melody that gets your head noddin’ and your waist windin’. Interesting tune to drop in your mix, with enough space to cause mass hysteria. Following that is another stellar collaborative banger from Digital and Outrage in the form of “Stampede”. It builds like an oncoming rush of wild animals…the intro plays the calm before you start seeing a cloud of dust kicked up, heightening anticipation and fear, which climaxes in the rush of that sweeping bassline. When this one drops, you get two choices: move or move out of the way! Big boy riddims on both sides of this plate, which is par for the course when it comes to Backlash.

Finish copy promo. Phuzion018: As Nookie’s Imprint is set to get to number 20 this year he launches one in a string of quality releases. These tracks are brilliant. ‘Stand By’ is a rollout tune with nice tight beat throughout the intro that helps the dj in the mix.
Then a huge booming double bass drops in from nowhere that destroys the dancefloors. ‘Dr. Dub’ delivers a deeper vibed vocal hooked track that also has a massive impact through the baseline pressure, both these artists have been receiving a lot of love at this time, and both tracks were received really well on promo!!!!

SP004 3 Degrees (Remix) / Jungle Story – Soundproof Productions Soundproof Recordings 12″ Vinyl
200 Gram Vinyl Pressing featuring artwork by Zombie Kudos and Yung-e aka Soundproof are back again with their own unique style on one of the first Dubstep imprints, SP Records. First out is 3 Degrees – Originally released on the excellent Boka Records in 2005, Soundproof have added to an already deep track with this remix. A discreet and atmospheric intro leads the way with catchy, melodic stabs and the occasional kick drum. Then a riser with the sample “3 Degrees, Hold, Fire!” to signal that something big is on its way. The tune drops in with tight and punchy kicks that bounce alongside crunchy snares as the track moves along a solid bedrock of sub-bass. A few sweet drum edits later the pace picks up with added bongo’s and that catchy melody again. There is depth and movement throughout this sick track – Serious business from Soundproof. On the flip is the wicked Jungle Story. A shuffling hat pattern with the vocal “It Keeps moving” leads you through the intro accompanied by weird sounds and a straight bongo hit. Then an echoed horn takes you to the drop with a heavy bass, reminiscent of the old Jungle scene. As the track evolves you come to a massive breakdown, filled with echoed stabs and clean deep sub-bass, here the tune takes on an eerie persona. Then, Whack! Amen breaks and a sub bring the track to rinse out levels. A raw, driving track with lots of personality, on a big system this will blow your socks off. A homage to the Jungle scene from Soundproof.

3024008 Titan EP – lllum Sphere 3024 12″ Vinyl
“Titan.” Sometimes titles are just perfect, aren’t they? It’s a huge, sprawling beast that seems to inhale every mutant strain of bass music it can and exhales it in one exhilarating 4:20 blast. It opens with ominous rumbling and 8-bit bleeps (and crickets?) before ambient chords ascend out of the depths, dragging a twisting electro synth with them. That pulsating, spiraling synth slinks its way through the gossamer membranes of the track, contracting and expanding as needed, its bulbous, serrated ends emanating industrial howls like ghosts of rave sirens. Clinking percussion desperately tries to keep the track in line, but it bursts from its foundations for split seconds, causing little blips and beeps, interruptions, skitters, grasping feverishly at its surroundings; eventually the percussion splinters into fragments and things open out for a few moments, but a synthline this big can’t stay dormant for long, returning with hymnal chords in behind it, hovering, until the percussion comes back in, lockstep in with the riff as if resigned to the fact that it can never overcome something this massive. On previous releases, Illum Sphere’s fallen more into the post-Dilla FlyLo camp (what are we calling this stuff these days anyway?). His two EPs on Fat City have been impressive, but this new three-track release on Martyn’s 3024 label sees him moving into slightly more dance-oriented waters, appropriating techno into his repertoire of subtly stomping tunes. ” “Go Killum” acts as a brief interlude, two minutes of mangled synth strewn about a deserted battlefield, canned, distorted gunshots taking the place of drums. The track takes neon brightness and submerges it in murky waters, the distorted beat only letting up for a few seconds of melodic prettiness before it stomps back in and chokes the life out of it all over again, until the blue turns to grey. It feels a little bit like a palate cleanser, a little morsel of whirling synths to clear out your tastebuds for the next psychedelic main dish. “Technopolis” is just that, its tumbling piano keys hoisted aloft on a pulsing techno beat and misty-eyed chords. He even finds time to set bass notes off like depth charges, overbalancing the track and scattering silvered notes onto the breeze. It wafts along like a classic techno track, gentle drums and glossy synths, as gentle strings pluck a nearly inaudible melody deep beneath the surface, in the sewers and slums of the technopolis, the unheard masses keeping the tune afloat. It’s an evocative track, dipping its toes into the past but never falling deep into the whirlpool of nostalgia, and even if it did, the indefatigable energy of “Titan” would pull it out right away, like a crazed dog on a leash.

PTN002 More Than Ever EP – Hackman PTN 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Briskly traveling from Swansea to Leeds, PTN follows Doc Daneeka’s release with an equally hyped EP of fresh material from Hackman, who along with Doc D, featured in FACT Magazine’s top 10 producers to watch for the year. Hackman is one of the exploding Funky movement’s best and brightest producers, rising fast and unleashing unstoppable rhythm after unstoppable rhythm. Profiled by the venerable and influential Blackdown in 2009 Hackman is no stranger to hype even so early in his career. But it’s not all just hype, and if anything, the hyperbole is warranted. Hackman makes music in line with other prominent Funky producers, but his productions have a certain sheen and a peculiarly humid quality that make them unmistakable. His impressive grasp of bass (see the absolutely crushing basslines in “Bodies” and “Surround” off of his EP for Well Rounded, betrays his initial foray into dubstep, and it lends his music a power both more nuanced and more visceral than many of his contemporaries.

CHST009 No Warning / Jungle Fears – Distance Chestplate 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Hot on the tails of the last double A-sider ‘Menace’ / ‘Beyond’, Chestplate returns with some fresh cut flavours, once again from head honcho Distance. ‘No Warning’ is a floor filling anthem of a tune, with DJ support coming from a range of top names including Skream, Hatcha, Joker, N-Type, Youngsta, Pinch, and many more. In true Distance style ‘No Warning’ starts with a cold errie backdrop, setting the scene for the devastating drop that follows. The hard hitting b-line teases you in the drop before crashing in full weight – combining a filthy thrash guitar sound with intricate future-tech synth programming – everything you need to ignite an instant mosh pit! Flip then for ‘Jungle Fears’ – a carefully constructed deeper and more erie sonic experience in comparison to the more dancefloor sound of ‘No Warning’. Distance takes you through the paranoid soundscapes of a non-descript cyber jungle, with glitched out edits tearing you from one section to the next, haunting pads and tortured synths lighting the path way through. Don’t listen to this on your own late at night!

Finish copy. Debut single for another hugely tipped young London based producer on the legendary R&S record label, showcasing that the label is once again a serious force to be reckoned with. James Blake is making some of the most startlingly original music to have emerged from London in 2010 and is a real star in the making. In between studying Popular Music at Goldsmiths and writing a debut album that will take a lot of people by surprise, he has released amazing singles on Hemlock & Hessle, pushing the boundaries of what is expected of ‘dubstep’ music. This underground introduction has made him a star on influential blogs and websites and has now pricked up the ears of more mainstream press. With features to be published before the release of this EP in Dazed & Confused, NME and Pitchfork. CMYK is a club anthem in the making and one of the most in demand tracks on the dubstep scene. The further three tracks take a more introspective approach, and aren’t strictly aimed at the dancefloor, but are equally heavy tracks that drip with funk and reveal themselves fully after repeated listens. Also an in demand DJ and remixer his remixes of Untold and Mount Kimbie are classics on their scene. This 12” release is likely to become both a James Blake and R&S collectors item.

DUB002 Gangster (Trolley Snatcha Mix) – Dreadzone Dubwiser 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. ‘Gangster’, a single taken from Dreadzone’s fifth album ‘Eye On The Horizon’. This 12 includes three remixes from Trolley Snatcha, Pyramid & She Is Danger. First up is Trolley Snatcha who takes the vibe of the original and mashes it up in his own inimitable way to create a no holds barred tear-out dubstep remix. Earl 16′s vocal hook “So you wanna be a gangster..I don’t think that is the answer” sets the scene before Trolley Snatcha drops a big squelchy, morphing bassline complete with sirens and gunshots – what’s not to like? Next up is She Is Danger’s deep, dub electronica mix which takes things a lot easier and provides a nice antidote to the chaos. Pyramid round things off with a decent breaks mix to complete the package. Something for everyone here but it’s the Trolley Snatcha remix that really stands apart.

DBOOT008 Oink – C156 Disboot 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Presenting the new EP from C156, Barcelona´s bassline masters. The bastard child of four young catalan producers. C156 is the subwoofer-eating monster formed like Voltron from the combined efforts of Cauto, The Gardner, Dr Res and Drome. With respective histories in dubstep, jungle, house and hip hop, C156 presents their 12″ debut for Disboot full of music that takes from and defies limitations to any of these genres. While taking their cues from Sheffield´s exploding Bassline House scene, c156 present three tracks that could have only come from the winding, gritty streets of the Gothic Quarter. The opening “1,2,3 OINK” takes dark melodies and pensive piano stabs and wedges them between rhythms alternating between hilariously phat bassline house sensibilities and half step pressure. The most sinister track on the EP, beats and bass are twisted and ground into buckwild mayhem. “Can leprous be trendy” tests all dancefloor hipsters to stand still with a maniac beat that literally threatens to fall apart as it pummels through its rapidfire rhythm changes and lfo abuse. Constantly rising and falling, the track is unpredictable and surprising, commanding you to move parts of your body you never knew existed. Ending with the current crowd favourite, “Latin Mayhem”, c156 take their latin musical lineage into the bass music fold with their tongue planted firmly in their cheek. Utilising a plethora of samples from various salsa riddims, this track is straight dancefloor fire that will have you pounding the floorboards or rolling on them in hysterics. Never content with gimmicks, the track maintains the signature c156 attention to detail and ridiculously heavy subsonics, something for heads and dancers alike. Full of wobbling bass, dancefloor murdering 4/4 rhythms and an overriding sense of humour, this is a perfect addition for the crate for those 3am peaks in the club.

NSDX004 Switched / Switched (DC Breaks Remix) – Mindflow Never Say Die 12″ Vinyl
Marius Mevold aka Mindflow is 25 and hails from Trondheim in Norway. His NSD debut was picked up early by 1Xtra’s Mistajam and when you hear it you’ll soon see why. Mindflow has created an absolute monster of a dubstep track that’s so catchy even your mum will be dancing her socks off to it: Fact. Switched has all the elements of a festival anthem; lush old-skool piano chords, soaring diva vocal cuts and huge sub bass wobbles that will shake any summer sound system. Just when you think it can’t get any better, the half time dubstep beat switches into rolling UK funky vibes. Really and truly, this tune is a beast and has already had HUGE club and Radio support from Mistajam (6 weeks running on his 1xtra show!) as well as Annie Mac, Kissy Sell Out, Scratch Perverts, Oneman and Caspa. Of course a Never Say Die release wouldn’t be complete without killer remixes and this one is no exception. D&B men of the moment and remixers extraordinaire, DC Breaks, have taken Switched to new lofty heights with their super production skills. In line with the Old Skool vibe of the original, the crisp beats and breaks underpin an awesome sub driven roller that is sure to be on heavy rotation for the summer. DJ Support: Anne Savage, Cut La Roc, Excision, Far Too Loud, Flux Pavilion, FreQ Nasty, Futurebound, General Midi, High Rankin, Jaguar Skills, Kid Kenobi, Pendulum, Reset!, Rico Tubbs, Riskotheque, Starkey and more.

HENCH018 Disgustin Justin / Metalfoot – Lost Hench 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy. Having already graced Hench with his debut release, Ironhide / Slaughtered, Justin Cantor, a.k.a Lost, brings his latest batch of weaponry. With his debut releases on Hench being deemed strong enough to appear next to some of the scene’s biggest producers, such as Jakes, Komonazmuk and Chasing Shadows. Since that first release, Lost has been a regular feature in Get Darker TV’s live shows and this new offering will not disappoint fans.
a. Distustin Justin – Cutting straight to the chase, Lost captures the sub-bass perspective of 90’s dance culture perfectly with Disgustin Justin. With the swinging bassline making creating a raw and dubby atmosphere, you can immediately tell that this was built to be played on a big soundsystem. Scattered high-hats and glitches keep the momentum rolling forward solidly. Estranged vocal in the background and the percussive drums add to the tripped-out mood of this production. From the evidence shown here, there is no doubt that Lost’s sound is maturing.
aa. An eerie soundscape guides us into Metalfoot – leading you into a false sense of security whilst building to the drop. And when this fat, chrome-guilded bassline drops in you gather an understanding of where the inspiration for this track’s name came from. Slow-drawing snare, pulsating sub-bass and ticking high hats provide the ingredients for this dread-inducing track. This one’s a real grower and is going to be turning heads when it gets dropped on the dancefloor.
DJ support for both tracks from: Jakes, Mistajam, Hatcha, Cyrus, N-Type, Darkside, Noah D, Datsik, Breezy and more.
