The brains behind Ramp Recordings & PTN

Tom Kerridge

Tom Kerridge, the brains behind the label’s Ramp Recordings & PTN has been integral to the development of UK bass music. His labels consistently pushed the envelope of forward-thinking dancefloor music, having a stellar 2010 with releases that take in the sounds of dubstep, hip-hop, house, UK funky, disco, and more.

RAMP030 Tokimonsta Cosmic Intoxication EP

With the likes of  Gilles, Benji and Mary Anne already eating out of the palm of her hand, it’s hard to believe this Tokimonsta’s debut EP. She has been trailblazing her boom bap come glitch addled beats around America for a few years, and recently graduated from the London Red Bull Music Academy. We are pleased to welcome her to the Ramp family, following in the footsteps of fellow L Aliens like Ras G and Computer Jay.

RAMP038 Maxmillion Dunbar Cool Water

[The album] is a straight up trip through me,” says Dunbar. “‘Pretty Please’ is on some boogie party fly shit… ‘Sno Mega’ is for rollerskates, ‘Way Down’ is an earth tone blast, ‘Girls Dream’ is slow ocean disco, ‘Rhythm Track for Rashied Ali’ is a house slam in honor of the illest drummer ever, ‘Lemon & Lime’ is what happened when I got really into this one Polygon Window song this year. ‘Original Soundtrack Flutes’ is my New Age anthem. And ‘Breathe What U Say’ lays it all out at the end like some Brian Eno and Cluster meets T-Pain vibe, just layers and layers of me breathing into a vocoder, dripping away.” Dj support from Huw Stephens, Benji B & Rob Da Bank.
