Commercial Suicide present “Compilation” Released 5th December
The album to end all albums is on target for release on 05.12.2011. It is not fully understood how any other albums will be able to compete after the ‘Commercial Suicide Compilation’ has been released but the world has been warned.
Commercial Suicide is the vanguard of Drum and Bass and has been since it’s inception 10 years ago. Proving a fertile breeding ground for new approaches to dancefloor Drum and Bass and beyond, it is only now after 10 years that a full compilation has taken shape.
Break, Calibre, Klute, Dub Phizix, Vicious Circle; the list of con- tributors reads like a who’s who of contemporary drum and bass production. The Commercial Suicide ‘Compilation’ features 13 of the best d&b tunes of all styles, from established names to the very hottest new faces on the scene.
The music business has changed immensely over the 10 years since Commercial Suicide was born, but one thing has remained constant; a great compilation can define a genre and it’s era. Klute has once again proved his peerless A&R skills with an album that reflects and defines the Commercial Suicide sound in the year 2011, while pointing the entire Drum and Bass genre forward with it’s foot firmly on the gas pedal.

With a scene increasingly dependent on the over sweetened candy of rave junk beats, it this compilation offers a window to know there is genuine music of substance available for those who want to savor it. For most, Commercial Suicide has no equal and needs no introduction. Klute’s signature imprint, (established London, 2001) has sustained a release schedule which raised the bar in the drum and bass world. The label’s forward thinking approach has been the incubator for some of the most talented producers on the scene over the last decade. Break, Calibre, Klute, Dub Phizix, Vicious Circle; the list reads like a who’s who of contemporary drum and bass production. After extensive market research (i.e. being rewound at drum and bass events from Toronto to Tokyo) the songs were selected and what we have are 13 of the best d&b tunes covering all styles from established names to brand new up and comers. A lot of things have changed in the music business over the 10 years since, Commercial Suicide came into being. A Sides describes both in his own words.: I love “Temperature’s Rising” as it’s a perfect example of the rough with the smooth which I love, plus I took Fats’ vocals a step higher by having him work harmonies, something which he rarely does. I love the piano, always have since back in the day 
! “Ain’t Nobody” is also a special track. In result ‘6th Element’ was born, a straight up bass heavy dance floor destroyer! Flip over to find ‘Cobalt’ the workings of Pessimist and Arma. Pessimist we are sure many of you have heard of my now with Killer releases on the likes of Ingredients and Critical with a slew of forthcoming tracks on Commercial Suicide, Renegade Hardware and Samurai. Arma is a young trio of producers on the up (Mateba, Overlook and War) Cobalt being the first outing for them as a collective but you wont have to look very hard to find impressive efforts individually. Throughout 3024′s short history, the label has always carried a heavy trace of techno in its makeup: an inevitable reflection of its founder’s roots in early 90s warehouse parties. Our 15th release bears that influence out, and stands as the label’s most expansive release so far – a 4 track EP from the utterly inimitable Mosca. Leaping straight onto our radar with his opening combination of the ‘Square One / Nike’ 12’ and ‘Gold Bricks, I See You,’ it’s been a long-held ambition to work with a producer whose diversity has never once strayed into tokenism. Renowned for his glacial work rate, we bided our time as the Mosca sound veered off into new territories – and it’s with great pleasure we present the fruits of our patience here. Opening proceedings of Mosca’s ‘Wavey’ EP is ‘Dom Perignon’, a cavernous roller with a gravity inverting bass drum and dub-infused atmospherics. Developing both the intricacy of its drum programming and the implicit tension of its arrangement towards the sunrise, it’s the perfect entry point for this new side of the Mosca sound. ‘Orange Jack’ further develops this gloaming swing, both deeper into the recesses of aquatic frequency while simultaneously ramping up the groove into ultra loose woodblock territory as looped snatches of Hip Hop acapella drive out any lingering ghost’s. Tearing any hint of historical reverence away is a constantly warping bass part that is more fissure than line, and bubbling textures hinting at further shifts to come. Immediately intensifying proceedings, ‘Jager’s renewed urgency guides the EP back towards more conventional Techno, in form if not implementation. Huge phased hi-hats and gaseous sub frequencies push a Friedrichshain pulse relentlessly forward, briefly collapsing as a disembodied fire & brimstone host exhorts an unidentified audience (or maybe the track) back onto its feet and onwards with yet more resolve. Coiling and uncoiling elements of the arrangement in this second half, a single electric piano chord makes its appearance, providing an understated link back to the previous 2 tracks’ roots. Available as a digital-only track, ‘Wray & Neph’ takes the component influences of its 3 vinyl bound siblings and fuses them together as the track both hardest to classify – and also the most classically Mosca sounding. Queasy waves of synth are joined by tight hi hats and a dislocated kick before a clipped percussive swing emerges out of the haze. Marrying a defiantly 8 bar-esque bass rumble and sporadic fizzing synth breaks with shifts back into stripped down 4×4 Motorik it encapsulates The Wavey EP and all its murky splendor. As ever, Erosie blesses 3024-016 with the latest sleeve in his ever evolving series of work for 3024, in the style that has defined the label as much as its A&R policy.

Om Unit returns with ‘Transport’ a four track EP of blissful, instrumental, mechanical soul. Transport’s strength lies in the leeway afforded to the listener, rewarding patience and immersion, the EP allows those that truly engage to digest and appreciate it’s many qualities and those of it’s persistently excellent creator. Transport showcases both exceptional production and creative excellence, yet never does form displace method or vice versa. The eminence of ‘Transport’ is echoed in its remixers; revered producers Machinedrum and Ital Tek both contribute revisions to this astonishing package. Transport opens with ‘Swimming Dragon’. A rigid percussive structure underpins an array of howling synths that surround harmoniously before multiplying into a haunting cinematic workout. Then just as the listener is fully enclosed, Om Unit manipulates the flux and flow, teleporting you into another realm where low end frequencies and floating spatial atmospherics spin faster and draw ever tighter. The dream-like ‘Eternal Way’ continues in similar vein, heavenly vocal samples float on waves of skittering, energetic percussion. A poignant piano interjects, providing an enlightening succession that reinforces the enchanting ethereal nature of the track. ‘Vibrations’ contrasts a rough bassline and rounded percussion with the airy atmosphere that contains them. Imploding toms and lone delayed snares are the order of the day while a lazy bassline strolls over the top. Echoing, soulful synths overlap each other, reaching ever higher as the track climaxes. ‘Cold World’ enforces a swinging off-centre tempo, resonating, reflecting synths emerge, followed closely by modulated keys and glistening atmosphere. “Fuck the ghetto, think about space” Rounding up the package are 2 excellent remixes. Machinedrum delivers a footwork rework of ‘Vibrations’ that ups the energy levels and warps the bassline into a much darker, foreboding being. While Ital Tek adds sinister overtones to his take on ‘Swimming Dragon’. Calculated and ominous in it’s approach it loses none of the spacious atmospherics that are essential to the track. Captivating strings are added to the mix to create a well-rounded piece of ambitious proportions.

Following on from the dark atmosphere of ‘Black Waves’, Drums Of Death returns with the next in the sequence: ‘Red Waves’. Four tracks of ecstatic electronics displaying it’s makers love for techno and house music, all ramped up with big sounds and stripped back arrangements. ‘Tear The Box Apart’ opens the EP with marching snares rolling under a massive lead synth. Toms, snares and claps… the classic palette of the 808 drum machine is well covered but it’s the unique poly-rhythmic synth work and angular arrangements that set the track apart from those of retro-fetishists. Cheeky and fun, ‘The Jerk’ shows that simple elements do a big roller make. So addictive, it’s the bouncing bass and buzzing lead that drag you along. A UK Garage groove takes control whilst the hollowed out barrel toms go for the gut. ‘Venice Beach’ crafts bright chords that swirl and build. The infectious melody makes way for pitched bleeps and a towering ‘Reese’ bassline. Tested extensively in DoD’s frenzied live shows, ‘Venice Beach’ is the glowing, melodic heart at the centre of the adrenaline-fuelled ‘Red Waves’ collection. In ‘Bang The Drum’ Drums Of Death talks to us through a vocoder… “Just bang the drum and kill the noise, mute the synth and then the voice”. Hardly a ballad, this missive represents the newer Drums of Death sound… taught, electronic machine funk. DRS has been setting the Backdrop office phone line alight for some time now let alone the clubs. Enei in tip-top form as always dropping a deep, morphing slab of future darkness with the unmistakable flows of DRS drizzled on top. Perfect. Moving on and Ulterior Motive step up with the darn right dangerous sounds of ‘Divergence’. Harking back to the sounds of Ed Rush & Optical’s ‘Wormhole’, this is tech-fuelled space-funk for 2012 that is simply killer! DJ drop and they will flock! Germany’s bass scientist Phace is up next and as usual he isn’t taking any prisoners. Always one for a next level intro he doesn’t disappoint on ‘Freedom Of Filth’ before it drops into a hard-stepping monster of a tune with his typically industrial, metallic palette of sounds. We dare you not to march to this but watch out for the outro switch! Finally it’s left to Jubei and Kasra to sweep up for the night…but not before they’ve had one last rinse out! Entitled ‘The Rift’ this one’s destined to cause worry in the dance with a name like that and indeed it does. Paranoid stabs, big rolling subby bassline and a kicking break make this the perfect ending to a perfect year as we lead into Critical’s 10th year of 2012.

Continuing the exploration of Bristol 4/4 variants, Immerse proudly offers forth this decisive two-tracker from the prodigious mind of Jacob Martin, better know as Hodge. You might be more familiar with Hodge from his work as part of Outboxx, who we proudly debuted on ime025. That said, he first surfaced last year with the deadly ‘Conjecture’ on another fine Bristol institution, Pollen. One thing rings true in any of the output Hodge is associated with; melody. Shirking the safety of sterile mechanics that so many producers hide behind, he tackles interplaying notes and harmonies with a fearless exuberance. Opening track ‘The Fall’ kicks off on a jerky groove and ice-cold organ murmurs, gently easing in layers and clips of sound with the same joie de vivre as Akufen and other micro-house progenitors. ‘Crush’ kicks off on a more decidedly broken tip, keeping the twostep shuffle slow and easy as whispers of garage skip in between the warm pads. The overriding vibe on Hodge’s EP is one of unpretentious, good times tunage.

V.I.V.E.K returns for his last output of 2011 and what a year it’s been for him. His set with Goth-Trad at the DMZ 6th Birthday is being hailed as one of the sets of 2011 this was quickly followed by Vivek being signed to booking agents ESP. His release’s this year as you would expect have been heavyweight, Pulse & Roots (Medi037) followed by his immense EP ‘Eyes Down’ (Medi042) featuring Big Bang, Spread Love, Sirens and of course Eyes Down. It was after this release that he received a call from original Reggae dons Greensleeves and was asked if he would be interested in remixing the Roots/Reggae classic Johnny Osbourne – ‘Fally Ranking’ for a forthcoming compilation, he obliged and turned out an incredible remix with a heavy nod to the old skool Steppa’s and one of his musical heroes Jah Shaka. So back to the release in hand, we hope you have a good set of Sub’s because you’re going to need them…. ‘Soundman’ is as dark and cold as it gets, a hard, minimal underground riddim charged with some intricate Techno running’s and a suffocating density ‘Diablo’ starts where ‘Soundman’ left off, more relentless dark, subbed out chest rattling tension from the Soundsystem man V.I.V.E.K.

Man Make Music’s second release is a collaboration between two talented Londoners, Jack Dixon and Rick Grant. Having already made waves with individual releases on labels such as Brownswood, Hypercolour and TAKE, these two good friends now offer up a pair of brilliantly off-kilter house tracks. ‘Running Man’ is a heady mix of skipping percussion and caressing Juno synth-lines, whilst, on the flip, ‘Muted’ takes a more understated, melancholic turn, counterbalancing the ecstatic nature of the A-side. Jack and Rick’s contributions are also offset by Kevin McPhee’s weird and wonderful slow-mo interpretation of ‘Running Man’. The remix blends vocals drenched in reverb with creeping piano riffs and shows yet another musical side of a man garnering plaudits from all corners for his unique style.

The foreboding sample of the eponymous title track introduces you to its creator’s highly claustrophobic world, where threatening snares cut through dark atmospherics. Crunching industrialised melodies and an intricate use of space pin the listener down. While from the shadows while sharp metallics menace; this is the calm before the storm. An impossible crescendo follows next. Impeccably executed by its creator and set against a swung half time beat, all elements of the track lock in and unleash an assault of monstrous sonics. No less intense ‘Vanquish’ continues Reso’s unnerving journey. More hostile tension forges the way for a ricocheting beat while unearthly sounds circle wildly. Vanquish is enveloped in a pulsating high voltage bassline which rolls on into darkness before recoiling only once to rear up and display it’s makers full armory. A humbling display of detailed drum programming, micro-edits and low-end manipulation, that like previous outings such as ‘Mind Games’ (Temjin EP) and War Machine (Valken EP), showcase a producer working to standards unattainable by most. On the flip Ishimura is remixed. Evol Intent are first in line and don’t disappoint. The highly respected Atlanta based trio take an unrelenting approach, keeping the vibe of the original they switch up the rhythm and tempo for a hard hitting D’n’B revision with a half time feel. On the heels of the ‘Fleur’ EP and this summer’s ‘Love Pressure’ remix project, Sepalcure are poised to release their eponymous debut full length through Hotflush on 21 November. The duo of Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) and Praveen Sharma (Braille), utilize the broader canvas of the album format to develop their collaborative process and incorporate the diverse influences present in their solo work to their sonic mixture. Machinedrum’s much-heralded ‘Rooms’ LP and Sharma’s recent EPs on Hotflush and Rush Hour reflect the impact of the frenetic, paranoid rhythms of the modern Chicago underground on the wider electronic world and the return to vogue of another musical style that originated from that city: House. But both artists add a crucial sense of emotional sensibility and melodic sensuality that defines the Sepalcure sound. ‘Yuh Nuh See’ takes the bite out of juke’s trademark staccato bass and looping vocals, washing the tension away with lush melodies and dubbed out atmospherics, while ‘Eternally Yrs’ is a burbling update of the rave-house sound, with processed vocals rubbing up against woodblock beats and a relentlessly bouncing bassline. ‘The One’ and first single ‘Pencil Pimp’ are destined to light up dancefloors worldwide with their variations on classic house, while tracks like ‘See Me Feel Me’ and ‘Outside’ are breezy and sophisticated. The album is a bold statement from two artists at the top of their game. Since the release of the ‘Fleur’ EP, Stewart and Sharma have taken the Sepalcure live act to SXSW and the Winter Music Conference, the Unsound Festival in New York, and Britain’s legendary Big Chill festival, as well as a host of other dates in Europe and America. The duo is slated for an appearance at Unsound 2011 in Poland, and will be debuting the Sepalcure Live A/V set at the upcoming Mutek: Mexico City, expanding upon the themes of their album art for the first time in a live setting.

The first 12” featuring Think and Jack Sparrow is being followed by a release of a set of four tracks by Hatti Vatti (real name Piotr Kalinski) who has already established himself with releases on british labels Mindset and On The Edge. The EP, which is available on 12″ vinyl and mp3 formats, is a kind of flashback of the diverse compositions of Hatti Vatti created in the Last year – from collaborations with singers associated with reggae and dub music, through tracks recorded during his prolonged visit to Cairo and moody UK garage, also including a 170 bpm collaboration with Mindset label boss and rising star of Autonomic – Indigo. Tracks from the EP have been receiving airplay on Rinse FM, Radio 4, Electronic Explorations, Kiss FM and Sub FM, with strong support for the first track “You”, recorded with the vocal participation of Cian Finn – known on the dubstep stage from cooperation with Radikal Guru. The duo of Travis Stewart (Machinedrum) and Praveen Sharma (Braille), utilize the broader canvas of the album format to develop their collaborative process and incorporate the diverse influences present in their solo work to their sonic mixture. Machinedrum’s much-heralded ‘Rooms’ LP and Sharma’s recent EPs on Hotflush and Rush Hour reflect the impact of the frenetic, paranoid rhythms of the modern Chicago underground on the wider electronic world and the return to vogue of another musical style that originated from that city: House. Critical’s Modulations marches forward this time picking up even more new talent in the form of Mortem. Coming straight out of Poland this marks another solid step in Mortem’s burgeoning career, his first official release for the Critical stamp and a great pre-cursor for the future; there’s a lot more lined up in the studio where this came from, trust us! Smooth, ethereal pads abound as ‘Get Closer’ opens proceedings with tapping percussion and a rocksteady break that set the mood. A low-slung tech-drenched bassline is what this is all about and when it drops it rolls hard drawing influence from that old Virus space funk sound from yesteryear. A very polished piece of production indeed. ‘Monoveler’ is sinister from the off, industrial borders on the medieval as the intro paves the way into a future-glitch b-line that claws its way inside the mix as the bars move forward in a tense battle all the way to the bitter end. A very cool indication of what more is in store from Mr Mortem.

Following the explosive induction of the My Style mix series last year with Dub Police head honcho Caspa at the helm, the series returns for its second installment courtesy of dubstep lynchpin and musical innovator Dwayne Marsh, AKA D1. And who better to fill the sizeable shoes of the international dubstep ambassador than D1, one of the earliest proponents of the emerging sound and an integral part of the Dub Police camp. A gifted musician and prodigious talent, D1 has made an indelible mark on the burgeoning scene, evolving with it as it has grown from its origins as a tightly knit community of forward-thinking producers to become an international phenomenon that has stormed the charts and packs out clubs on a daily basis. Remaining at the epicenter of the scene throughout while refusing to be defined by anything other than his latest dubs, D1 has been responsible for a number of seminal tracks. He released music with the likes of Tempa, Soulja and Dub Files before joining the Dub Police label in 2008, a creative partnership which continues to herald brilliant results, notably including Flood Of Emotions featuring Jenna G earlier this year. Since then Marsh has been busy in the studio, recently remixing Toddla T’s Take It Back and Tiger Dreams by Karin Park as well as crafting a host of brand new material, the first glimpses of which you can hear in the mix. Drawing upon the whole of the UK’s vast underground musical heritage, Marsh melts down a diverse array of influences into his sound, deconstructing garage, UK Funky, house, jungle and dubstep and rebuilding them into his own unique style that sounds like nothing other than himself. Dispensing entirely with notions of accessibility and dancefloor friendliness, ‘Intrusive Incidentalz vol.1′ is a 12 track collection of dark, oppressive atmospheres and violently unstable interludes, developed through studio improvisation and inspired by childhood memories of terrifying electronic soundtrack music from the 1970s, yet combined with a post-dubstep sensibility and a sense of dread informed by the social, economic and political climate of life in 2011. A bleak retro-futurist fantasy, or oblique soundtrack for a broken Britain? The truth probably lies somewhere between the two.

You might know Hatti Vatti from an outstanding piece of music “Different Music” written for Mindset back in 2009. A soulful Dubstep, Techno fusion that many will remember in the years to come as a great record. Now Polish born Hatti Vatti gives us a sneak peak on his debut recording for On The Edge, expected release April 2011. Another Dubstep, Techno fusion featuring vocals from Echo Ranks. Then, as if the original wasn’t enough to wet your ear drums, the legend that is Andy Stott is on remix duties! He hasn’t gone as industrial as some of his previous productions you might have heard, but still seriously Dub Techno and I for one have been playing the remix to death. All together a great (no pun intended) package!

Kanji Kinetic’s future bass sounds have been causing shockwaves at parties worldwide. Mixing up beats from bassline & 4 4, dubstep and oldskool breakbeat hardcore like no-one else can, he has found support from heavyweights such as Mary Anne Hobbs and Tayo in the UK, and Drop The Lime and Starkey in the US. With a number of well-received releases on respected labels, his production skills are in high demand with a slew of high-profile remixes about to emerge, as well as brand new original material to destroy the party unlike anything before. For Horror Boogie, he has blessed us with “Citizens Unite”, a raw, nasty bassquake, which has been obliterating dancefloors for some time now with its masterful drum programming, insane bass and THAT drum roll. THIS is what drumstep should sound like. Fedka the Irritant is probably best known as the trombonist in the excellent band Pest (Ninja Tune), alongside Ben Pest (Panic Bridge, Victim, Bonus Round). He’s also a seriously original and versatile producer in his own right. He has released on Panic Bridge, alongside the other Pest members and his live “trombone techno” sets are something to behold. “Watch Them Get Killed” is wonky techno at its finest. Its tight drums, chopped up hip-hop vocals and the beautifully deranged, yet ferociously funky melody make this track seriously addictive. Expect to hear a lot more from this man on Horror Boogie Records in the not-too-distant future. Michael Forshaw has smashed many a rave with his live onslaught of fucked up electro, techno, rave and booty. He has released on many labels over the years such as Penalty, Miditonal, Flaw, his own imprint Chan ‘n’ Mikes and most recently, Coin Operated. “Cookietag McStarrwerk” is a live, mashed up, sample-laden (namely the classic “Whoomp! There it is” vocal) rave/breaks/booty monster and has been a staple of his recent live sets. Last and certainly not least, is the mighty Subhead. As a solo artist, Jason Leach has released on his own Death to Vinyl, Fix UK and Subhead imprints, alongside his work for Mercurochrome, Input Output Inc. and Don’t. In total he has released well over 100 records, having also been involved in several notable collaborations. “Stefan Wolfe” is a driving, peak-time, techno juggernaut. Its atmospheric beginning hypnotises you into a false sense of security, before it hits you with a dose of raw energy – crunchy hi-hats, solid kicks and a funky-ass bassline, leading on to a finale of full-blown squelchy wrongness.

Welcome to the first Love Sick Recordings release brought to you by the likes of Riskotheque, Marchmellow and Screen Age & Mudie (aka Southbound Hangers). ’A’ side ‘All Alone’ provides an exhilarating journey through heartbreak, loss and isolation. In the intro, delayed piano chords hint at distant happy memories but soon make way for stark 808s and womb-like sub frequencies that bring the listener back to bitter reality. Insistent vocal snippets serve only to galvanize the tracks emotional content. Truly a song to cry to as much as dance. In contrast to this is ‘AA’ ‘You Don’t Understand’. Positivity and hope pervade this little beauty; it’s glistening synth hooks and intricate drum programming conjuring thoughts of joy and new found affection. Perhaps the perfect sound-track to a summer romance. So we hope this clearly sets the agenda for Love Sick Recordings… music equally at home in the bedroom as it is on the dance floor!

Joe Goddard is surely one of the busiest men in the world of electronic music: writer and producer behind the world-conquering Hot Chip, acclaimed solo artist, travelsome DJ, prolific remixer, one half of the emerging 2 Bears house duo and one of the founding members of the Greco-Roman record label and party collective. So where does he find the time to make an EP of electronica so sweet? In bed, that’s where. “wide awake and I can hear my heartbeat / hope it cradles me and rocks my bones to sleep …” Fitting, then, that Goddard’s first solo material in 18 months should open with a chorus of angels, before title track ‘Gabriel’ strides confidently into familiar territory of London’s clubland and its rich musical influences; this time Goddard choosing Gospel and House as his parameters to create a bone fide underground radio and club hit which currently sits on the BBC Radio 1 playlist. Whereas solo album ‘Harvest Festival’ might have erred on the side of electronica and experimentation, the ‘Gabriel’ EP – the first taster of a solo album for next year – punches direct, with the latest addition to the Greco-Roman collective Valentina (who co-wrote ‘Gabriel’) lyrically laying down the gauntlet from the off: “Gabriel you’ve gone too far and you should hang your head in shame / for these wounds I cannot pay, you’ve gone too far / you broke my heart, you’ve gone too far”

Spec: Reverse Board Sleeve features Gold Metallic Pantone logo and lettering front and back, Pantone matched labels, plastic inners.Darkestral was set up as an imagined cinematically orientated sound space allowing producers creative room to make music of a more visual nature, within or outside of their percieved genre. Continuing this theme, Transportation AAD was dreamt up to bring together Drkstr’s (label owner) short film script ideas with Boddika’s exemplary talent at interpretation and production so that over the course of the studio sessions, the script could come to life in audio form. The refers in part to a vessel (Transportation) descended from the Darkestral mothership and to the recording path process, (AAD) Analogue Analogue Digital. a) Transportation AAD ‘Last Train To Lexington’ 4am, Brooklyn, N.Y.C. early 80′s, the last graffed up metallic shell makes its way on a fraught course. Tension, heightened awareness of the grate of wheels on track and late night track repairs in dingy tunnels. A journey that must be undertaken. aa) Transportation AAD ‘U.F.Unk’ A UFO journey between space stations encapsulating gravitational pull, air brakes and subsequent landing. On arrival the beats reduce elements of the last 20 years underground music – detroit, electro, dnb and ragga into a cohesive sound.

A selection of short cinematic explorations taking in the ancient, the far reaches of the galaxy and the end-time, featuring Transportation AAD (Boddika/Alex Instra:Mental & Drkstr), Grey Goo (Boddika/Alex Instra:Mental), and Vaalhaala (to remain anonymous..). a1) Transportation AAD ‘Pagoda’ Bladerunner reimagined as 18th Century Kyoto, droplets fall and splash wooden deck from angled eaves in a rained drenched atmosphere, whilst distant drums beat a tender solumn ritual. a2) Grey Goo ‘Lost Transmissions’ The end of time encapsulated, a broken UFO floats through a turbulent shower of space debris, still emiting signals to an unloving universe, no destination, no chance of return. aa1) Vaalhaala ‘Phaethon’ Kaleidoscopic journey toward a lost sun deep in the galaxy, where starburst spectal colours stream through the viewing platform and a lone pilot sees images previously unimagined. aa2) Grey Goo ‘See Me’ Pensive strings and radio static permeate the final journey on this mission, clumps of debris tampoline off the side of the craft as memories flood back to an ancient time and a glint of light enters the scene before we move on to the next undetermined destination with a sense of ease and knowing.
