New D&B Releases

XXX001 – The Binary Collective – XXX001 – 12″ Vinyl
The Binary Collective is a new project formed by the Autonomic family in order to make spontaneous music as a collective with multiple inputs from whoever happens to be in the studio at the time. It could be two people involved on production duties or it could be four or more such as on this first release. Made on a drunken afternoon crammed into Rosies Box (dbridges Studio), the collective put their talents together and the tracks formed themselves like Voltron, The Binary Collective was born.” The first release is limited to 300 vinyl.

RECIPE024 – Skeptical – Blue Eyes EP – 12″ Vinyl x 2
Back by popular demand! Limited repress on black vinyl. Skeptical’s vinyl debut was on Ingredients back in May 2010 with “Transfer / Block 305”. Heavily supported by people such as dBridge & Doc scott, Skeptical has risen to great heights in a year, with his distinct cutting edge sound and awesome dub sonics. A highly collectable piece of modern drum & bass! Dj support from dBridge, Doc scott, Marcus intalex, Flight, Storm, Loxy, SPY, Dub phizix, Spectrasoul, Phobia, to name a few.

SYMM010 – Break / Xtrah – They’re Wrong / Cyrax – 12″ Vinyl
Having smashed dancefloors with ‘Framework’, Break returns with a different flavour & reminding people just how versatile he can be, while retaining the excellence he strives for every time. ”They’re wrong” is pure heaven, with it’s funky guitar licks and sublime pads, already touted as one of the tunes of 2012 with heavy rotation from Dj Marky & Ltj Bukem. Once you hear the vocal, you’ll know the tune. In keeping with Break’s idea to find the very best new skool talent, the flip side “Cyrax” is a monster track by the much talked about Xtrah! Straight up gnarly bass tones, sick percussion and heavy beats fit perfectly on the Symmetry label and completes another must-have single.

b Xtrah – Cyrax

RECIPE025 – Krakota – Scraper / Tunnel Vision – 12″ Vinyl
Sebastian Krakota has quietly set about his mission to dnb greatness in a short space of time. He has already featured on Critical’s ‘Modulations’ series, CIA and his massive “Be Myself” on our ‘Recipe Book LP’ in the summer made everyone take note. This is his first full solo 12” and what a belter it is. “Scraper” is a superb dj tool, straight to the point with it’s high energy pads and killer bass drop. While “Tunnel Vision” is a lighter affair, with an uplifting vibe. Both tracks are very current & shows how much this young Dj has to offer already. Dj support from Marcus Intalex, SPY, Total Science.

On the a-side we find JiJ, a melodic and uplifting anthem with big breakdowns and even bigger drops. With the flip Limewax skillfully merges 3-4 individual tunes into one tearing behemoth of a track. Position Chrome goes from strength to strength….

MARS003 – Edward Oberon & Paul T – Love Is / Absolute – 12″ Vinyl
For our third instalment on Mars Recordings we’ve decided to go for Green Vinyl! This has nothing to do with Aliens, we wouldn’t be that obvious, but it’s the colour chosen by the artists and we think it looks like another great Mars package. Musically, well Edward Oberon & Paul T have conjured up 2 awesome tracks. “Love is” is absolutely sublime with it’s warm bass line and delicate sounds to the breakdown, while keeping the drums nice and punchy, a great tune to roll out. “Absolute” harks back to the deep sounds of old Good looking by the likes of Big Bud or Tayla. Ridiculous sub-lo bass and deep strings, this is how Mars do things and we feel it’s another quality 12″ where the music & the packaging matters.

New Bass Music releases

DP060 – Matty G – Back To The Bay – 12″ Vinyl
The opening hits of the percussion stay smooth and relaxed, and the instruments come in one-by-one – first the synth, then the strings, then the brass – to create an experience that’s both engaging and relaxing. This is the sort of music I would listen to if I cruised the streets of San Francisco in the evenings. As “Back To The Bay” wraps up and pulls us into his remix of “Screw Up,” we get a dose of Subscape’s intensity, but it’s quickly pulled back into Matty G’s signature low-bass, hip-hop/dubstep fusion beats. “Jam Like A Tek” adds in some vocal hooks to get the crowd chanting – and you’re missing out if you don’t add this into your mix. Deep kick drums, a snappy snare, big distortion on the scratchy bass wobbles, and the vocals all come together perfectly to create a track that’ll get people grinding like mad on the dancefloor.

PSQ007 – Kowton & Tom Dicicco – Untitled EP – 12″ Vinyl
Kowton and Tom Dicicco, residing in Bristol and Manchester respectively, make very different music from one another. Kowton’s seems to come from House, perhaps also Electro and Garage, often quite slow in tempo and hard to pin down to a specific genre. Tom’s music is Techno, bass heavy, melodic, textured and rooted around 125 BPM. With these distinctive styles the idea of a split EP might seem ambitious, but the result is four cohesive but different tracks that show the talents of both artists perfectly in the format of two originals on one side and two remixes of each other’s originals on the other. Tom Dicicco’s original is driven by a low-mid range thick stab and pounding kick drum, littered with intricate but not overbearing hi hat and snare work and some very atmospheric mid range. Kowton’s is subtle and sparse, low fidelity and plodding, with rattling percusion carrying the tune along. On the other side of the record, Kowton’s remix of Tom’s original is driven by an enormous bassline, with an off kilter dubby feel to the slow tempo and genre defying tune. Tom’s remix of Kowton rounds off the EP with a return to stab driven Techno, pulsating, dynamic and trance inducing. Mastered by Matt at Air Studios London.

New Bass Music Promos

BFR007 – Laxx – The Laxx EP – 12″ Vinyl
Biscuit Factory Records presents The LAXX EP, the debut release from Oxford based producer Jamie Churchill, aka LAXX. The EP features three tracks that highlight why LAXX is unquestionably going to be an artist to look out for in the future. The EP leads with Warning. A Cinematic intro, layered with subtle hats and trademark sirens descend unsuspectingly into a drop that is guaranteed to send dance floors into mayhem Devastating subs and punchy drums, this is true, chest crushing Dubstep. Self Destruct is a clever combination of melodic and soulful sounds, poles apart from the A-side. An emotive and atmospheric keyboard pattern provides the riff, while dark, moody, sub stabs combine with catchy percussion to produce a full on roller of a track. Aggressive, industrial synths sit perfectly over distinct and heavy hitting drums in the track Transmission. This is another taste of LAXX’s ability to produce classic dubstep sounding tracks, twisted with his unique and futuristic sounds. Favourite of DJ N Type (Wheel and Deal/ Rinse FM), Walsh (Biscuit Factory) and getting played by the likes of Benga (Radio 1), The Others and Subscape (Dub Police), Biscuit Factory Records proudly introduce LAXX.
