PC080 Chiropteran LP – The Panacea Position Chrome 12″ Vinyl x 3
Limited edition vinyl pressing is heavy weight gloss laminate sleeve. 7 years after his last full-length album, The Panacea releases his 6th studio album entitled “CHIROPTERAN”. as always, he breaks fresh ground with complex song structures and musical variability unlike what you have heard in D’n'B so far. This ingenuity has made The Panacea one of the most praised entertainers in today’s electronic music-scene. while consciously referencing the heritage of early nineties rave music, a reduced, straight sound runs like a red thread through the entire album. what appears to be a well-known scheme is being reinvented both musically and technically, making “Chiropteran” a musical symbiosis of dance and brain-dance. Collaborating with artists such as Donny, Lethal, Dean Rodell and Limewax only adds further colour to the album. overall this record proves to be more than just another 12″ single compilation but masterfully entertains the listener over 78 minutes over the 2 years working on this album The Panacea has found a musical language that transcents trends or genres, thus “Chiropteran” won’t sound dated after a few months but will, in time, prove to be a milestone in electronic music.

AT007 Got Me – Survival Ft. Christina Nicola Audio Tactics 12″ Vinyl
With Survival and Christina Nicola’s last outing, ‘Secrets’, still reverberating through many a club, radio station and podcast and garnering top reviews across the board, the pair waste no time delivering their next installment, ‘Got Me’. Reminiscent of their earlier work which featured on Survival’s self-titled 2008 album for dBridge’s Exit Records, Nicola’s soft, soulful, vocals are the perfect antithesis for the rugged, steely breaks and bass that follow. Flipside ‘Descendant of the Sun’ takes things deeper with a distinctly eastern atmosphere complete with flutes, strings and aquatic effects. DJ support: Fabio, Doc Scott, dBridge, Break, DJ Hype, Bailey, Marcus Intalex, Loxy, Alix Perez, Total Science, Krust, Flight, Silent Witness, Kasra, Zero T…

PM019 Perhaps The Future – Paradox Paradox Music 12″ Vinyl
2009 was the album year for Paradox Music with the release of Alaska & Paradox’s Isolationist LP and now the label returns to the 12″ fold in 2010, kicking off in style with a new solo 12″ from label boss Dev Paradox. Perhaps the Future is a sinister, mystical, gritty and raw number all rolled into one. The Amen brother break is used to great effect creating an new identity of it’s own with it’s intense eq at the forefront of the mix. Rare thought-provoking vocal samples unveil the track’s story and ethos accompanied by bass booms and mysterious sharp film samples conjour scenes straight from a 70’s detective series. 8-Track is one for the B-boys and displays the producers early foundations in DnB. 8-Track is unique from a breakbeat perspective, and displays a sample contrast between the track’s original 60’s jazz/funk roots and a 90’s hiphop version of the same title. Dub delay and vocal effects tie the track alongside deep rumbling bass and the end result alongside Perhaps the Future is another Paradox 12” complete with a strong identity of it’s own. DJ support: Zero T, Equinox, Lynx, Soul Intent, London Elektricity, Alley Cat, Gremlinz

KSHEEP009 Empty Streets Revisited / Times Like These VIP – DJ Hidden Killing Sheep Records 12″ Vinyl
DJ Hidden once more returns to Killing Sheep Records, this time with two remixes of his most well known tracks. Empty Streets Revisited is a classic fusion of dark / furious Drum & Bass and cold Industrial Hardcore, heavy 909 kicks meld with huge snares and the World’s must ridiculous bass line. Times Like These VIP, the original was in constant repress from 2006; this reworking of the track has been played out often at major events such as Thunderdome (The Netherlands epic Hardcore event) by the likes of Promo and The DJ Producer. It is the definitive DJ Hidden track and perhaps the most well known fusion of Drum & Bass and Industrial Hardcore. It is extremely hard to find an original pressing of KSHEEPV004 Times Like These, so make sure to get this VIP before they are sold out.

FOKUZ041 Vanilla Dream / Joint – Command Strange Fokuz Recordings 12″ Vinyl
Fokuz Recordings keeps on showing their talent hunting skills. Command Strange is a new producer hailing from Kazakhstan. The land thats normally known for Borat his stupid antics is now the foundation for Command Strange’s inspiration. If you think that DnB cant manifest over there then your dead wrong.. Check out Vanilla Dream for a classic cut featuring some of the best Jazzy sounds you’ll ever hear. No nerdy minimalism here just chilled out DnB how it should be, full of color and fresh! Once your done pulling yourself away from the A side its time to move on to side B for Joint. The title tells you in what kinda of mood you should be. Yes roll yourself a big one and just drift away on this classy cut. Joint features yet another palette of colors that have been long forgotten. DnB doesnt have to destroy the dancefloors over and over and over its all a matter of taste another legendary label once said. Well Fokuz can say… if you’re not copping this… You dont have any…. Watch for alot more coming up from Command Strange cause Fokuz isnt done yet

SUICIDE051 Damn Tough / Vibrations – Mindscape Commercial Suicide 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Evil funk of highest grade. Mindscape are dropping some serious vibes this year. Damn Tough is a exactly that! With its trademark Mindscape deep bassline and growling building the pressure with each bar. Vibrations is a trancey, chilling track almost liquid but heavy on the funk. Gergely Sasvári aka Mindscape, is one of the major producers hailing from the thriving Hungarian drum and bass scene, homeland of producers like Chris.SU, SKC, or Jade. He achieved his first success as a member of the electronic band ’Random Soundz’, performing live at several major events. In 2003 he founded the Mindscape trio, that a couple of years later became his solo project. 2010 looks even brighter for Mindscape, Collaboration EP on Subtitles, and also looking at a single 12” at the classic Virus Recordings. While working on his 2nd album, he has also found time for other projects, such as collabs with Gridlok, Chris.SU and Jade. Beyond doubt, by 2010 he become an unavoidable force in the international drum and bass scene.

IMLTD1201 Viral / Nothing Else Matters – Hobzee & Zyon Base IM:Ltd 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy. In drum and bass, things happen quickly. Overnight success comes with one big tune, new labels spring up almost every day, and tracks are declared old news before they have even been released. But even by these standards, IMT:LTD are making serious moves. With seven releases, including two EP’s, to their name since dropping in May this year, the French label celebrate the unprecedented success of their digital venture with this, their first vinyl release to date. This is a big moment for the label, and the pair of tracks represented here are of the calibre we have come to expect from these guys. On ‘Viral’, Hobzee teams up with Zyon Base for a chilled out roller that’ll put the cones through their paces on even the biggest systems. A twisted, growling melody and atmospheric background synths fill the mix up nicely. Stepping with a little more bounce on the B-side, Hobzee goes it alone with ‘Nothing Else Matters’. On a big, wobbly vibe that falls just the right side of silly, this one is sure to bring the dancefloor up a notch when it drops.

Finish copy promo. Anthem!!, Fabio yet again digs deep to support some of D&B’s freshest sounds. Dystopia / House Groove have both won support the likes of Hype, Crissy Criss & Grooverider. Sato is an up and coming Producer from the North East who is making waves with some of the games main players. Amongst others, Sato has gained praise and support from Goldie, Marcus Intalex & Fabio. In 2009 one of the most respected producers in the scene stepped up on remix duties and Sato’s ascent into the limelight shifted up a gear. Breaks remix of Barn perfectly complemented Satos brooding sound but added a choppier flavour while lending his top flight credibility. With an increasingly impressive list of releases to his name, look out for Turning Point on Ingredients and Scorched on Future Thinking.

SUBTITLESUK001 Featherweight / Glued – Ulterior Motive Subtitles Music (UK) 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. Subtitles UK presents Ulterior Motive. Breaking through with a fresh & funk-fuelled sound, the Bournemouth based DJ/production duo of James Davidson and Greg Hepworth are making their mark in 2010 and setting the pace for others to follow. These two essential singles mark the relaunch of a newly revitalised Subtitles and clearly demonstrate why Ulterior Motive are fast-building a reputation for high-quality, innovative drum & bass. Going straight for the knockout in Round 1, ‘Featherweight’ is Ulterior Motive’s biggest track to date and a firm favourite with heavy hitters like Teebee, Hype, DJ Marky, dBridge, Marcus Intalex, Fabio & Grooverider and Friction. Punchy beats combine with a classic hip-hop hook to set the vibes before dropping below-the-belt with a bassline dirtier than Mike Tyson. ‘Glued’ rolls out with infectious percussion and a rasping low-end, keeping crowds gripped to the dancefloor and reinforcing this crucial future-proofed 12”.

Joining up with Kiat from Singapore , this veteran has a well-cultivated back-catalogue including releases on Soul:r and Hospital. A : ‘Purple Clouds’ (Kiat and Alley Cat) gives a nod to the old school electro that has influenced many of us in electronic music today. It offers a bit of a glitchier mood while lots of layers of pads and percussion add to the feel. AA: Kiat goes solo for ‘Missing Channel’ and offers a super-fun-to-mix tune with an epic intro and a naughty little bassline, proving you can make a dubstep tune that rocks without the wobble. A Both tunes showcase the signature sound featured on the Kokeshi ((pod)) kasts – moody, dreamy and deep but also danceable. A few fun facts about the new label that’s doing alright.. kast featured in ITUNES new & noteable podcasts after 2nd episode *Kokeshi 002 featured in ITUNES new electronica releases for several weeks (front page) and charted high in dubstep sales charts for weeks (BM Soho, Juno, Beatport) *Afterlife dropping on high profile ‘This is Dubstep vol. 2’ compilation out March 2010* *airplay on (non internet) radio in the UK (Radio 1, Chill FM) , USA, Australia and NZ as well as internet support on Rinse FM, sub-FM and more..

CTFAT100 Jookie – Foamo Fat! Records 12″ Vinyl
Fat! Records are back! This, my friends, is jolly spiffing news – especially when they return with something as resoundingly large and summer-specific as this UK funky-tinged number from Foamo. Carnivalesque mischief abounds as horns and infectious Afrobeats weasel their way through the mix of whistles and bass on ‘Centavo’ while ‘Jookie’ takes things even further south of Soa Paulo with an epic horn fest doesn’t dissimlar to Unitedeyes’s ‘Sambana’ if you can remember that far back. To say welcome back would be an understatement. Idj mag review 10/10 and top tune feature! Rob Da Bank played Foamo ‘Jookie’ Saturday on Radio 1. HJRLP49 Splazsh – Actress Honest Jons Records 12″ Vinyl x 2
Darren Cunningham’s eagerly‐awaited new album is an adventurous, ultramodern, thoroughly British affair, rummaging about in the inner lives of house and techno, and brilliantly elaborating the accomplishments of his debut, Hazyville. Determinedly off‐the‐map and resistant to pigeonholing, Cunningham is an enigmatic and playful figure, citing Francis Bacon and Monet as inspirations alongside Theo Parrish, Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir, Daft Punk, ‘binary codes and numeral systems’, and The Avengers. He’s a hard man to pin down — somehow a key player in the post‐dubstep diaspora and yet not there at all — but everything comes across in his shape ‐ shifting, richly textured music. The South Londoner’s acclaimed debut lived up to its name: a series of dreamlike sketches and ideas. For Splazsh the fog has lifted, the sounds are less submerged than before, but still sticky and close — a signature combination of exuberance and introversion, luminescence and puzzlement. Unconstrained by the formal cliches of the dance music he loves, Actress’ melodies and arrangements are enthralled by their own genies. Worlds of disturbance and melancholy revolve giddyingly inside the insidious funk of tracks like Get Ohn and Lost. A range of musical influences is redrawn, from speed garage (Always Human) to grime (Wrong Potion), with none crowned king. There is a reflectiveness — the ambient drift of Futureproofing, the radiophonic judder of Supreme Cunnilingus — in amongst the industrial, synth‐wave flavours of Casanova, and the stirring, stately Maze. Actress has quickly and justly become one of the most respected names in the UK’s new dance music underground. His own label, Werk Discs, has proven itself one of the most formidable and taste‐making UK independents of recent times, bringing the world extraordinary albums from Zomby, Lukid, Lone and Actress himself. In love with the mysteries of groove and repetition, Splazsh is both a culmination and a new beginning for Actress, a substantial and eccentric work from a brave and coolly individual artist. With international press interest gathering — photo features in Dazed And Confused, and Fader in the US, and a session with Wolfgang Tillmans for the cover of the German magazine Groove — the stage is set for Actress.

Finish Copy Promo’s. Scuba continues his stream of underground techno influenced releases with a release on his mysterious Vinyl Only label Abucs. As ever there’s a smooth and deep atmosphere going on here and a distinctly 80’s vibe on this occasion, very reminiscent of the type of sound dBridge’s Nonplus label is currently releasing. On the flip current producer of the moment Ramadanman (Hessle Audio, Hemlock Recordings, Swamp81) steps up to remix Scuba’s ‘Tense’, the mechanical and robotic drum pattern is overlaid with Scuba’s trademark Detroit Synths to create an image of an Industrialised Berlin landscape.

BOKA028 Flex’d (Ikonika Remix) / Detroit Skank – DJ Madd Boka Records 12″ Vinyl
Limited Finished Copy Promo’s. It’s a special one as Boka Records enlists the services of the current Queen of underground Electronic music IKONIKA for a post-garage relick of ‘Flex’d’ (the original was released on DJ Madd’s ‘Better With You EP’ – BOKA020). It was first showcased by Alleycat on her highly successful Kokeshi Podkast series and is currently garnering support from Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1) and Martyn (3024). It’s certainly a musical departure for the Boka camp but 2010 has been all about diversifying and showcasing all styles within the realms of bass music.
DJ Madd is on a heater right now with support for his music coming from all angles, and so the time is right to release argueably his biggest and most supported track ‘Detroit Skank’, first showcased on Skream‘s ‘Stella Sessions’ radio show on RinseFM. It’s a beast of a roller which expertly incorporates dub and techno influences, the bassline on this one is absolutely sick, the likes of Headhunter, Skream, RSD and Akira Kiteshi have been utilising it in the raves to devastating effect.
CTFAT101 Too Many Times – Randomer Fat! Records 12″ Vinyl
The newly re-launched Fat! Records continue from where they left off with this forward thinking release from Randomer & Fife. Too Many Times sees Rhodes stabs and a super-slick vocal cut ride a bassline that, coupled with the high-energy percussion, builds to a deceptively furious peak before releasing a soaring synth-line that will no doubt strike a chord with fans of Sbtrkt and Joy Orbison. Slum City is an altogether tougher affair with its heavyweight percussion and bass bin punishing drop, yet it once again defies pigeonholing with its blissed-out breaks and vocoder. Worth its weight in gold, and as intended each of the four tracks are deployed as weapons of the DJ’s arsonal amongst their crates. 4 tracks that are sure fire hits. The predetermined target aimed to the dance with the sight set to annilate the crowd.
SMOG006 Headshot / Know Yaself – Pawn & EMU Smog 12″ Vinyl
Smog proudly announces the freshman debut of Pawn & EMU on the imprint. Headshot is a classic Half-Time Dubstep tune, but halfway in between, it picks up into 4/4. This makes it an easy grab, for transition DJ’s, or anyone who wants to switch from half time to double time on the dance floor. Headshot is another collaboration featuring the patois lyrical maestro Werd2Jah, and employs his talents to the max. If you like Bongos, and Dancehall style lyrics then this 12” is one not to be missed! With Werd2Jah giving his two cents on the track, the trio make a statement by sending a message to the listener. Know Ya’ Self is a dagger into the heart of the corporate music world, as its hook is reminiscent of Lil Wayne’s A Milli, but is in reference to how everything sounds the same. The Lyrics from Werd2Jah fit right on top of the production style of Pawn & EMU, and the trio make this collaboration one to remember.

CON028CD Sound Of Contagious – MRK1 Contagious Music CD
The Manchester born producer was responsible for some of the genres first releases and has been lucky enough to put out a number of defining records alongside such key labels as TEMPA, SOULJA, VEHICLE, POLYDOR, WALL OF SOUND, TEXTURE, TECHONIC, EARWAX, TERRA RHYTHM and many more. In 2004 he released an album with PLASTICIAN and SLAUGHTER MOB on APHEX TWINS label REPHLEX RECORDS one of the projects that helped propel both Grime and Dubstep into the media for the first time. The two solo albums with leftfield and critically acclaimed label PLANET MU, “ONE WAY” and “COPYRIGHT LAW” as well as the two VIRUS SYNDICATE records “WORK RELATED ILLNESS” and “SICK PAY” of which he produced, have amassed well over 50,000 sales and thrust MRK1 into the spotlight galvanising his place at the centre of the scene. All this has allowed MRK1 to travel the world as a DJ and spread his bass driven gospel from continent to continent on a more than regular frequency. He’s blessed some of the biggest event’s and festivals in the world including GLASTONBURY [UK], ROS KILDE [DENMARK], WILSONIC [SLOVENIA], 10 DAYS OFF [GENT], SONAR [UK], GLADE [UK], CREAM [UK] as well as regular stints across the Atlantic playing everywhere from Miami to Minnisota. Along the way he set up CONTAGIOUS a label that has itself gained recognition from both the buying public and the media alike. Having put out releases by SKREAM, PLASTICIAN, CHIMPO, SIZZLA, JACK SPARROW, VIRUS SYNDICATE and ORIS JAY the label is now close to its 30th release! The SOUNDS OF CONTAGIOUS is a window into the world of MRK1 through some of the labels most recent releases featuring a number of tracks that are still rattling dancefloors as we speak with a nice sprinkle of those yet to be aired to keep the true heads happy. As ever MRK1 delivers a fat slab of low end frequency driven filth that will make most things shake, rattle and wobble their way lovingly through your eardrums. He’s also infected other producers with his contagious sound as CHIMPO, MARLOW, JACK SPARROW, SKREAM and his home team VIRUS SYNDICATE step up in support adding a tasty distraction.

ML025 Silence – Monolake Monolake CD
Entitled Silence, the album is the work of Robert Henke, the acclaimed software technology developer for Ableton who has been the sole permanent member of the group since founding member Gerhard Behles left in 2004 to focus full-time on the company. According to early reports, the album is a varied one, taking in both slow and fast BPMs, as well as ambient excursions with, as Henke pointedly proclaims on his website, absolutely no compression whatsoever. (Henke’s three year stint as a mastering engineer and vinyl cutter at Berlin’s Dubplates & Mastering has much to do with this decision.) Put together over the course of a year, Silence also takes in field recordings from a variety of places: “Sound sources include field recordings of airport announcements, hammering on metal plates at the former Kabelwerk Oberspree, Berlin, several sounds captured inside the large radio antenna dome at Teufelsberg, Berlin, dripping water at the Botanical Garden Florence, air condition systems and turbines in Las Vegas, Frankfurt and Tokyo, walking on rocks in Joshua Tree National Park, wind from the Grand Canyon, a friend’s answering machine, a printer, conversations via mobile phones, typing on an old Macintosh keyboard and recordings from tunnel works in Switzerland.”

UM001 Natural Progression / In The Raw (D Bridge Remix) – Break / Mako and Andy Skopes Utopia Music 12″ Vinyl
Utopia Music is a new Bristol based drum & bass label founded by Mako, a DJ/producer with longstanding residencies at Dissident in Bristol, Spectrum in London and promoter of the infamous Utopia parties that have played host to guests including Randall, Fierce, Break, dBridge, Sabre, Lynx, Storm, Squire and more since starting in 2006. Opening the label’s musical account, Bristol resident and long-time Utopia supporter Break (Symmetry) steps up to deliver Natural Progression. On the reverse, dBridge (Exit Records) remixes a track created by label boss Mako and Andy Skopes (Good Looking) back in 2006 that remains unreleased despite a large amount of DJ support and an appearance on Fierce & Break’s cover-mount mix CD for ATM Magazine. DJ support: LTJ Bukem, Doc Scott, Fierce, Makoto, Bailey, Loxy, Total Science, SpectraSoul, DJ Lee, Flight, Instra:mental, Survival, Invaderz, Squire, Insiders and many more.

SCULT003 Swoop / Funk Me Hard – Sleeper Cell & Maztek Subculture 12″ Vinyl
Usually when we think of Italy we think of designer labels, opera, fast cars, fine art and fine foods. Italian based Subculture Records however are looking to add firin’ drum & bass to that list as they present their third release from label owner Maztek and UK producers Sleeper Cell. Batton down the hatches, things are about to get rowdy! Sci-fi sounds capes are rife as Sleeper Cell and Maztek team up for ‘Swoop’ to open up Scult003 with its rich textured break, eerie pads and industrial fx. After a tense dropout it’s time to move out as the super-sick bass rocks into the mix along with the rugged beats to provide a great example of the neurofunk sound. Fans of Noisia, Break and the like will lap this one up. Then Maztek goes it alone for ‘Funk Me Hard’, another excursion into the dark twisted world of techy d&b but with as the name suggests, a little more funk. Absolute carnage is what this one causes on the drop of filthy bass, warped vox and yet more production wizardry. Crank it up! DJ support so far from Ed Rush, State Of Mind, Chris Renegade, Optiv, Masheen, Axiom and more.

FALLOUT001 Phantom / Razzle-Dazzle – N.Phect Fall Out 12″ Vinyl
Fall Out’s debut release comes courtesy of Berlin based producer N.Phect. Phantom kicks off with rolling beats that are constantly developed throughout the track and added to with N.Phect’s unmistakeable brand of dirty funk. Razzle Dazzle is less of an easy going affair as enormous amounts of bass right from the off build towards a disgusting, pounding drop that devastates dancefloors. Both tracks have been causing carnage across the world thanks to DJ support from Ed Rush, Black Sun Empire, Teebee, Cause 4 Concern, State of Mind, Phace, Prolix, Bulletproof, Misanthrop and Cern to name but a few.

Unearthed is a new Punch Drunk affiliated label with a mission to reissue classic Bristollian sound system music remastered and cut LOUD to heavyweight 12″ vinyl for the first time. Bass is Maternal is the title track from the legendary original Smith & Mighty long player, eventually released on their own Three Stripe label in 1994 after lengthy delays. It is the manifestation of Smith & Mighty’s proto jungle vision which came to dominate the mid nineties. U Dub is a more traditional dubbed steppers rhythm building to a break beat / junglist crescendo. This first 12″ is fully dubstep compatible and has been recently revived by top selectors such as as Pinch, Shortstuff and Ben UFO. Both tracks essential for collectors and crucial to the Bristol sound system continuum jigsaw. More stone cold classics coming soon from the Unearthed series…

You haven’t worked in weeks. You’re unshaven and unkempt, your fridge is as bare as the dying light of a Sunday afternoon spent alone is bleak. Your rent is in arrears, and you dread the thought of more bills arriving through the door tomorrow. You spend more money on whiskey and weed than you spend on food, and have recently taken to shoplifting cheese from the supermarket. Barefoot, in your underwear still, you walk over to your record player, still faithfully spinning around and around and around since God knows what time this morning when the last people left… You reach for the record you walked into town to buy, pull it from it’s sleeve, still fresh despite a gathering storm of your greasy fingerprints clouding it like uncertainty clouds your future. For five and a half minutes you stand listening, eyes closed, and your troubles fall away. You flip the record over and, for a further five and a half minutes of pure joy, you hear that which few others ever will. THE FUTURE IS NAKED
ISP001 Running Away / Running Away (Guido Remix) – Wedge & Shadz If Symptoms Persist 12″ Vinyl
Amazing packaging and music from Bristol based DJ & producer Wedge. Coming with a fresh take on the dubstep sound with the debut release on his new label If Symptoms Persist… Having hosted his successful radio show on Sub M for four years, this first release represents the fruitful hookup that have come from the how. With the best of musical and vocal talent passing through, the show has become a watchword for keeping up on the developments in the Bristol sound. Shadz is one of the many talented vocalists to have guested on the show, and before long Wedge invited him into the studio to collaborate. The result is a perfect combination of bass weight beats and soulful songwriting. Shadz uses his experience singing with many different projects (Joker – Keep your eye on the ball, Gemmy ‘The Croft” Seezy -Whatever the weather, TC – Untitled, Distorted Minds – Otherside) to great effect and comes up with an infectious lyric with a yearning, searching theme that suits Wedges deep bass pressure perfectly. ‘Running Away’ join the long line of great vocal tun to come out of Bristol, from Smith & Mighty, Tricky, & Portishead to Reprazent & Ben Westbeech. Running Away – Guido Remix On the flip, rising talent Guido (one of the Purple Three along with Joker and Gemmy) turns in a remix that sums up the excitement surrounding these producers. R&B, grime, & dubstep are thrown into the mix. a rinsing b line mixes with Guido’s trademark or he orchestration & musicality. Two prime examples of why people are looking to Bristol for fresh take of the Dubstep / GrimeGoodnessKnowsWhat sound With DJ’s as diverse as Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1), Mr Jm (1Xtra), The Foreign Beggars (Dented Record ), Footloose (1Xtra), Starkey (Planet Mu), and N-Type (Rinse FM) supporting this release, things are looking great for this new label.

This side see’s the massive ‘When I Look At You’ get a release, and with support from Caspa, Benga, Skream, N-Type & just about anyone who is anyone battering the living daylights out of this tune its not hard to see why this has now got to the anthem status it so thoroughly deserves. A real epic intro with luscious pads and pitched vocals, before an absolutely ferocious drop of squelching bass and stomping beats. So big, its criminal! The flip couldn’t be any more different, but don’t let that put you off. ‘Angie Got Stoned’ is sheer genius with its quirky piano lead, skippy beats, sweet vocals and warm bass. In all honesty words cannot really give this track any justice, just listen to it yourself and enjoy this masterpiece that Emalkay has unleashed on to the world. HENCH011 Ill – Chasing Shadows Hench 12″ Vinyl
This is the second 12” from recent HENCH signing, Chasing Shadows. The duo drop some serious pressure with these dark and dirty tunes straight from the heart of cutting-edge dubstep production. They’ve already received attention from the likes of: Mary Anne Hobbs, Pendulum, Plastician, N-Type, and Benga, so give them a listen and see what all the hype’s about!
A.ILL – ‘Ill’ builds from an eerie intro, with sultry guitar chords and stabbing beat, slowly winding up to an immense drop. With twisted beats, a punishing b-line, and sweeping atmospherics, this is iller than ‘Ill’ – the bass is so low it will probably make you sick! Grimy and growling, this is a tune that’s going to tear your immune system to shreds.
AA. AMIRAH – Flip over for another dark, deep, no-nonsense number with ‘Amirah’; with ominous atmospherics, a stabbing drumbeat, and oriental female vox, ‘Amirah’ has plenty of spice and a feisty kick! A helicopter chopper sound fades in and out of consciousness and adds to the mayhem. Powerful and intense, with pummelling subs, heavy bassline and a thumping drum kick, ‘Amirah’ is a tune that takes no prisoners!

Finish copy. The fourth Rwina sees the light of yet another Taz Buckfaster 12 inch that’s going down in a true epic vein, one for the anthem horny jocks. So if you are into the grimy synth heavy side of things then better check this one out. Taz is on the case with the A side, Half Man Half Trout has been tearing up various floors for a while now. Meaty synths, a sexy melody, smooth delicate bassstings and a sharp drumbeat to nod your head to. A sure shot production that’ll leave and left tons of people wonder what that just was. It seems there aint no stopping the Taz because again he pulls it off on the flip with his other dancefloor smasher called 20 Red. 8 Bit bleeps and again a brutal squeezy synthline that’ll make your mouth water. Its like Snoop Dogg is floating on this orange cloud on his way to Jamaica to fill up his stash. A tune that finishes of this 12 inch in style and cements Taz as one to watch in the future! With releases coming up on Numbers (former Wireblock), Subway and a debut album on Rwina it shows that this is one producer we’ll hear alot more about! The classic TRG release. repressed and Re-released. Fresh from releasing killer plates on Hessle Audio, Subway and Audio Freakz, Romania’s TRG touches down on Immerse to deliver this highly-accomplished 12”. First up is Time is Now, kicking off with samples of dystopian android speech mixed up with a simple flute lick that gives no warning of the impending carnage! Snipped up breaks collide with whiplash-inducing bass action and shuddering subs to make a guaranteed mess of any dancefloor. Flipside, TRG gets more reflective with They Know, as wistful chords drift across the intro like echoes of some long-forgotten rave, before dropping into a post-UKG boom-bass workout. Subs bulge beneath the broken 2-step riddim and occasional warping midline, building nicely towards the killer switchups on the second drop.

DJ MAG – Dubstep Single Of The Month – “Some tunes really hit you in the soul receptors, and ‘Wa6″ by West Londoner and antisocialite Harry Craze blows dust off the 45, and moistens the eyeballs. If J Dilla made dubstep, you’d get the same feeling; sweet strings bounce off mood-drenched synths and circulate the warmth. BUILD001 Tongue Riddim – Baobinga & I.D Build 12″ Vinyl
Finish copies. Operating out of the same stable as Tectonic, Kapsize, Earwax and Caravan, Multiverse brings you a new label, Build, hitting the exciting space where Future Garage, Dubstep, UK Funky and all things Bass intersect. Headed up by renowned bassmusic ambassador Baobinga, known for his massive releases on Soul Jazz (with Tayo & Spyda) and Trouble & Bass (with Detroit’s DJ Nasty), as well as his wide-ranging DJ sets across the globe (including an appearance at Fabric’s 10th Birthday this October), the first release on Build sees Baobinga joined by regular partner in crime I.D. (Boka, Mata-Syn, Cool & Deadly). Tongue Riddim takes elements of Kuduru, percussive Dubstep and junglistic sub-bass pressure and combines them into a tightly-wound slice of dancefloor propulsion. On the flip, Roska – one of the main players in the UK Funky scene and a core DJ on Rinse FM – takes the tempo down but retains the sense of rhythmic intensity, rolling trademark tough Roska drums over a warm, yet menacing, bassline. Hypnotic without ever losing impact, the remix has already become a staple in his Rinse show. Early DJ support comes from Sinden, Martyn, Starkey, Buraka Som Sistema, Scratcha DVA, TRG, Shortstuff & Brackles and more.

DVA004 The Jelly Roll EP – Scratcha DVA Music 12″ Vinyl
Limited Edition Purple Vinyl. Scratcha DVA is not just the charismatic host of Rinse Fm’s breakfast show, he’s one of the UK’s most accomplished producers. An associate of Terror Danjah from the late 90′s, DVA supplied dubs to Dj Slimzee during grimes early days and has produced for luminaries of the scene like Wiley, Trim, Chipmunk, Tinchy Stryder and more. More recently Scratcha has collaborated with beacons of the UK Funky scene like Roska, Cooly G, D-Malice and more while still releasing grime anthems like ‘Nasty Nasty Nasty’ and ‘Bullet Ago Fly’. The Jelly Roll Ep has already gained support from Marcus Nasty, Geeneus, Joker, Kode 9, Cooly G, Sinden and more. Built around a super-synthetic bassline its title track sqirms and shakes around stinging snares whilst ‘Guro Triba’ is a little on the more conventional side of House & Funky. Remixes comes from True Tigers Sukh Knight, who gives Nasty Nasty Nasty the creeping dubstep treatment, whilst Funky don Roska gives it his unique “Kicks and Snares” midas touch.

ESOTERIC012 Esoterica – Nucleus & Paradox Esoteric Music 12″ Vinyl
Nucleus & Paradox are on a mission to relay the 90’s grit of UK Jungle back into today’s ever-digital sound with every Esoteric release and just when you thought ‘L.S.D Jazz’ (ESO 11) had set the jungle benchmark the duo unleash ‘Esoterica’ with outstanding effect. Rolling RARE funk breaks, deep low subs, carefully placed breakbeat flicks and switches between Dancehall vocals ooze DnB experience from the first few seconds. Listen, learn and enjoy !! On the flip the production duo deliver the soulful ‘Illuminism’ which could easily be an instramental hiphop track if not for the 175 bpm tempo. Double bass pulls, xylophones and chords take centre stage and relay a sparse mood coupled with Nucleus and Paradox’s shuffling breakwork making a great contrast to the flip’s Esoterica. Just like the outer label artwork states, lets ‘KEEP JUNGLE ALIVE’.

Lots of hype surfacing on the internet about these tracks right now. ‘Crackden’ is that tune you’ve heard to be described as a dubstep-drum & bass hybrid. What ever it is it’s a sure fire future anthem! On the Flip, ‘Fat Soul’ is pure rolling amen Bukem goodness… Support from DJ Hype D Bridge, Presha LTJ Bukem, Bailey, Tony Coleman.

SICK007 Breath Of Steel / First Cosmic – Lucio De Rimanez / Gancher Future Sickness Records 12″ Vinyl
Prepare yourself for two brand new, dark and relentless tracks on the seventh release of Belgium based label Future Sickness. Breath of Steel by Lucio Di Rimanez is a techno influenced, stomping track with snares ready to slay an army of mechanical zombies and a haunting synth melody that sounds like it was recorded in the middle of the factory in which they were build. The first deceiving tones of Gancher’s First Cosmic give you only moments to heal. Your hiding place isn’t safe for long though and before you know what’s going on, an onslaught of screaming stabs, distorted kicks and some very aggressive breakbeats drop hard and keep going until there is nothing left. This is not a record for the faint hearted but it is highly recommended for those who never leave the house without a sawn-off shotgun and a few hand grenades… just in case.

NONPLUS003 Porcelain – ASC Nonplus Records 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy. Instra:mental welcome a new addition to the Nonplus+ camp who goes by the name of ASC. This producer is by no means new to making music, but recently his productions have become an essential addition to dBridge & Instra:mental’s Autonomic podcast series and also frequents their club sets.
a) ASC ‘Porcelain’ is a perfect illustration as to why Instra:mental have been paying ASC’s music so much attention. It begins with a glitchy yet groove-laden beat coupled with dramatic piano and fx stabs, then fills out with a warm drawing sub bass and smooth atmospheres. As the track progresses and you think it’s reached its climax, ASC cleverly layers an almost oriental sounding percussion stab to accompany the bass line and picks up the track to another level. This track is a prime example of being able to express the utmost with the minimum.
aa) ASC ‘Focus Inwards’ is the deeper side of this 12” and as the title suggests, takes you on a journey into yourself. Fully charged with progressive chords and melodies alongside electric sounding drum fills and percussion, the arrangement, musical content and pure elegance of this track give us an insight into ASC’s compositional abilities and potential for the future.

BCHEM001 Bad Chemistry / Fear – Gein Bad Chemistry 12″ Vinyl
“Man will begin to recover the moment he takes art as serious as physics, chemistry, or money”
The wait is finally over. With a mindset of D.I.Y. and a vision of the future, drum and bass producers GEIN unleash their new record label BAD CHEMISTRY RECORDINGS on the world’s ears. And with five years of production credit, as well as 5 years of record label management with HABIT RECORDINGS, the trio is set to stir up the drum and bass scene with a conceptual label that defies people’s set standards. With Bad Chemistry, GEIN is turning heads all across the board with collaborations you would come to expect, never expect, as well as new solo material that breaks stereotypes. And with support from major players in the drum and bass world, the hype is growing daily. The first release is the fitting “Bad Chemistry” produced by GEIN, backed with “Fear” with additional production by newcomers Biolysis. “Bad Chemistry” is a neurotic techy monster that is definitely made for the dancefloor, with a demented breakdown that keeps the crowds screaming for more. “Fear” is what happens when evil meets futurism, with heavy beats and sinister basslines. And this is just the beginning. With forthcoming collaborations with Tech Itch & Jakes, The Chosen, Audio, Mayhem, The Sect, SPKTRM, Counterstrike, Cooh, as well as solo tracks from GEIN, SPKTRM, Demo & Ewun, and more, Bad Chemistry Recordings is ready to prove to the world that not all things can be explained… bad chemistry is good chemistry.

DW02 Jealous Eyes (Utah Jazz Remix) – Smooth DrumWise 12″ Vinyl
The second DrumWise release with a bit different flavour, brings what’s finest in drum and bass. Utah Jazz remix of Jealous Eyes is a proper liquid roller with catchy vocals and funky piano theme. After the intro, the bass lands deep in the groove, and builds a perfect connection with the rhythmic section. The Piano shortly moves away but soon comes back to create an unforgettable romantic mood. As in the first release Smooth’s colab was a bit darker. This time on the B side his own masterpiece is light and groovy. A Melodic intro with violins and smooth pads go into a heavy rhythmic conjunction. After the breakdown the story continues with a perfect ‘disco’ build-up and finalise in a passionate synergy of beats and melodies.

RUNTIMECD001 Messages from the Void – Elemental Runtime Records CD x 2
Elemental’s imminent debut LP “Messages from the Void” is a collection of work from the last four years, spanning a range of styles, made using a combination of new and old technologies, including Elemental’s beloved modular synthesizer. He is proud to be able to present it to the world – a favour returned for all of the amazing music that has touched him throughout his years as a music listener and raver. Elemental’s fresh take on the dubstep sound has got both scene stalwarts and eclectic tastemakers singing his praises. Blending components of acid house, Detroit techno, ‘golden age’ drum & bass, vintage dubwise and African rhythm, his sound is rich in texture and musical heritage, yet remains eminently danceable. The North London based producer – Adam Wilson to his friends – started dabbling with production in 1994 with a Roland D5 and Atari ST while he was still at school. Soon after he invested in an Akai S2000 sampler, bought a PC, and the rest, as they say, is history. In the nineties he predominantly focused on making drum and bass and experimental electronica, eventually putting out his first drum and bass release as a white label off his own back. A few years later, together with schoolmate Dario Swade, they formed the breakbeat garage duo Elemental & 3D, releasing on their own label Runtime Records in 2002. A couple of years later after some time abroad, Elemental caught the likes of Search & Destroy on Rinse FM and instantly found the sound he had been looking for: dark, heavy, syncopated beats and bass. Since 2004, Elemental has been focused on bringing his newly developed sound to the masses. Combining dubbed out dirty bass lines with hypnotising rhythms, he has released on labels such as Destructive, Hotflush, Pitch Black, Halo Beats, and his own imprint Runtime, with his seminal track “Soulfire” one of the highlights on Tayo’s Fabriclive mix CD. He was officially the first person to do a live dubstep performance, mixing up and dubbing components of his productions using Ableton Live to rapturous audiences across the world: no set is ever the same twice.

KRKN010 Work Dat Box – Jaybird Kraken Recordings 12″ Vinyl
Kraken are rolling again, with their second release in as many weeks (Check out KRKN009), and it’s good to have the Denmark based don’s back! Very little is known about A-side artist and LA resident Jaybird, but i’m sure plenty of people will be on the hunt for info after this little number drops. Absolutely relentless, crushing dubstep music, a refreshingly nasty little number reminiscent in atmosphere to one of Kraken’s earliest releases ‘Eye Of The Demon’ by Wolfman (JSL), this tune is currently tearing up clubs worldwide, with support from 2000F and notably featuring on Hatcha & Crazy D’s Kiss FM radio show, you’re gunna love this one! Legendary Kraken artist JSL pops up on the flip with a brand new beat, kept relatively under wraps this one comes out of nowhere and smacks is straight round the chops like Kimbo Slice! Act quickly on this one, it won’t last.

RNG008 Sinners / Goblin – Jonnny Clark Vs Mala / Coki Ringo Records 12″ Vinyl
Please note we have a limited supply! Ringo Records, the outward spew of the legendary Transition Studios, snug in the heart of dubstep territory, confound the unsuspecting public with more heavyweight material from the scene’s core artists. Mala re-rubs a Johnny Clarke classic with typical panache; reverential dub-wise handling invested with bass technology and infused with Rasta teachings. Fellow Digital Mystik Coki provides a coarse counterpoint with ‘Goblin’, a ‘Spongebob part 2′, with ferocious synth action that few, if any, can better.

STEAK001 1975 – Mr Gasparov / Octa Push Steak House Records 12″ Vinyl
Hanuman and Atki2’s (aka Monkey Steak) Steak House Imprint will be the label to watch in the next 12 months. Steak House are about to unleash a devastating series of 12”s of pure carnival fire from both established and up and coming producers.STEAK 001 brings together the hottest Global Bass talent from the Iberian Peninsula: Octa push and Mr Gasparov.
MR GASPAROV – 1975 Mr Gasparov is Lisbon’s premier purveyor of intelligent Bass Music. Using graphics tablets, midi controllers and a synth made from an old McDonalds till point, Mr Gasparov makes intricate, bass heavy dub techno/two step crossovers that will destroy any dancefloor with enough detail to keep the experimental heads’ attention.1975 is a slow build 2step workout with skittery beats and thumping sub that delivers in all the right places. Think El-B meets Aphex Twin under a tropical sky. Support from Scuba, Emma Warren, Freak Camp, Conspira,
OCTA PUSH – AI NADIA & LAIKA LIKES IT Octa Push were formed when Portuguese Bass Music pioneer Conspira challenged producers Mushug and Dizzycutter to join forces and create a totally live dance music project. Their unique fusion of Bashment, UK Garage and Dubstep with other elements like Afrobeat and Techno has put them at the forefront of the Iberian electronic music scene with explosive performances at places like SONAR, Glade and Fabric. Ai Nadia is a throbbing afro-step monster. Shuddering sub bass and chanted vocals collide to create something very special indeed. Laika Likes it combines sweet female vocals, broken garage beats, and pounding bass to devastating effect. This is a tune firmly for the hips.Support from Buraka Som Sistema, TRG, Jahcoozi, Ghislain Poirier, Ben UFO, Cardopusher, BokBok, Reso, Sinden, Sub Swara
“Two tracks of Carnival Bass business from Portuguese duo Octa Push make up the Killers on this first EP for Monkey Steak’s new label.(It’s) a cheeky street riot that Shakes its batty wildly at any notion on genre constraint.”Allan McGrath, DJ Mag KILLERS
section
“Two artists from Portugal show how dubstep’s mongrelinfluence continues its inexorable global spread, catalysinghybridisation between different genres wherever it goes… These tracks… recall early Chicago house, but where Mr Gasparov kneels to the churchy, upward-reaching side of the sound, Octa Push gets down and sweaty in the most profane, relentlessly jacking way.”Joe Muggs, The Wire
“‘1975’ is a woozy piece of two-step infused house that gradually layers up over its length, from the sparsest of synthetic melodies to an eerie carnival of sampled voices and dizzying instrumental tessellation. ‘Ai Nadia’ kicks the reverse off in fine form, its tightly syncopated beat loaded with elements from a whole host of different genres – the propulsive skip of garage, funky’s tribal machinations and the grimey crunch of kuduro. It’s the best thing on here by a long way, …The fast and furious garage hybrid of ‘Laika Likes It’ wears its UK influences more overtly, a little bit of London attitude ensnared in its suggestive female vocals and bubbling subs.” Rory Gibb, Sonic Router.

DP032 International Roots (LD Remix) – Mungos Hi Fi Ft. Earl 16 Dub Police Records 12″ Vinyl
Returning to Dub Police after the massive success of ‘Peace In Our Culture’ (featured on part six of the ‘License To Thrill Series’) for his first single on the label, is South East London’s LD. Kicking things off is the sweet vibes of ‘International Roots’, with it’s smooth vocals, luscious pad stabs and LD’s signature rolling and driving beats, any fan of the usual heaviness from this man will most defiantly not be disappointed. Wicked vibes! On the flip LD goes all tribal on us, with the highly sought after ‘King Of Kong’, which has been gaining huge support from the likes of Caspa, Mala, Chef, N-Type, Benga & TheOthers to name a few. LD sets the scene with a jungle landscape, before the heavy tribal rhythms that lead the way for a drop that will get even the most stubborn of raversshaking their ass! An absolutely outstanding release from man like LD, and Dub Police yet again raising the bar in their quest of pushing good new music.

TOTTER022 Face Gets Splat EP – Stagga Rag and Bone 12″ Vinyl
We don’t really do remixes, but with the original ‘Sick As Sin’ smacking it, this rework smacks it even more. Carefully staying true to the original and not interfering with its initial blast, this version tweaks it just enough to bring you back to that point when this tune first dropped and you couldn’t play it enough. On the flip-side you have 2 utterly brand new bangers that each provide prime time ammunition in their own right. Face gets Splat embodies trademark Stagga production with the lyrical talents of Y Dot Tzer J Bone getting into a metaphorical battle with other MCs. While Tha Criss Gurge Supply pitches down a little and gives itself a haunting swagger all of it’s own. Stagga has an extensive background producing hip-hop through his involvement with Optimas Prime and off kilter act Dead Residents. His dubstep incarnations have appeared on Rossi B & Lucas label Rudeez, Berlin outlet Robox – Neotech and of course Rag & Bone. Strong support from Starkey, Raffertie, Rob Da Bank, RSD, Pirate Sound System, Kanji Kinetic, Chrome Kids and reviews due in IDJ, Mixmag and more to come.
541416503045 Try Humanity (Zomby / Starkey Mixes) – The Brown Acid News 12″ Vinyl
Everything about this reminds us of the olden days, from the name Brown Acid to the posicore title (happy rave days dudes) to the fuzziness of the sample and, of course, the part where Zomby takes the band’s name literally and turns in a proper acid house track. The other day we were in Other Music and bought an old 808 State album we’d lost long ago. Thought twice about it at first—impulse buy?—but it still sounds as sick as it did in the Mesozoic period of our youth. Zomby makes no bones about his love for classic ’90s rave music, but when he feels like making tracks in the spirit of particular genres, they are never throwbacks, just the freshest improvements from an imaginative talent. Incidentally, the original is this sort of cabaret pop electro and barely a fragment remains in the remix, just how it should be.

RUNTIMELP001 Messages from the Void – Elemental Runtime Records 12″ Vinyl x 3

DRUNK013 Beautiful Complication – Guido Punch Drunk Records 12″ Vinyl
Alongside Joker and Gemmy, Guido completes Bristol’s Purple Trinity generation of dubstep producers, whose self titled ‘WoW sound’ has taken the worldwide underground scene by storm in 2009. Guido has been getting regular plays from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Sinden and Kode 9. This 12″ release is the first full vocal track to appear on Peverelist’s Bristol dubstep scene corner stone label, Punch Drunk.

HEK006 Stop What Your Doing (James Blake Remix) – Untold Hemlock Recordings 10″ Vinyl
Finish copy. Hessle Audio co-owner Pangaea and 2009 newcomer James Blake deliver two wildly different but utterly sick remixes on a double A-sided 10”. Side a. Untold – Stop What You’re Doing (James Blake Remix) James Blake proves why he’s one of the most exciting and promising new prospects in UK bass music right now. Taking the bare bones of the Untold original and creating a completely new lick, Blake throws in p-funk synths alongside chipmunk gospel vocals that relentlessly swell to an apocalyptic climax. “The most utterly next level piece of music I’ve heard in years” Ben UFO (Hessle Audio) Side aa. Untold – I Can’t Stop This Feeling (Pangaea Remix) The Hessle Audio co-owner comes with his hypest, rudest most surprising tune to date. A 140bpm, Chicago-style jackin’ remix of Untold’s Hessle Audio release from earlier this year. Raw house stabs, those trademark swung drums and a breakdown that’s a lesson in tension and release —the mix just rules the dancefloor. Huge support worldwide from Joe Nice, Mark Pritchard, Bok Bok, Gilles Peterson, Ben UFO, Ramadanman and many more.

FAISTY002 Suntime – Dom Faisty Records 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy. Faisty Records returns with it’s second offering of up front bass music, featuring two tracks crafted by DJ and Producer DOM. Suntime is a dark, brooding stomper sure to give your subs a workout whilst the flip side, Tall Tales has a lighter more energetic feel that is sure to bring a crowd to life. The Brighton based producer DOM has had a string of successful releases both on Faisty Records and on Clandestine Cultivations and his tracks regularly get crowds moving in clubs everywhere. Watch out in the near future for forthcoming releases on Faisty, Clandestine and L2S.

CLDUB009 Coastal Dubs Part 1 – Ultrasound / Hizzle Guy Clandestine Cultivations 12″ Vinyl
The first in a series of Clandestine plates devoted to exposing the production talents of Brighton town. Presenting two producers destined to go a long way: Ultrasound and Hizzle Guy. Two very distinct takes on bass heavy 140bpm music, these tracks have been alternately blissing out and smashing up dancefloors around the world in recent months, so here they are for you to continue the trend. ULTRASOUND consist of two Brighton based DJ producers and a London based sound engineer. Between them these three have released a huge number of tracks across different genres over the years, DJ’d different styles of music in venues all over the shop, worked in record shops and are now behind the highly acclaimed “well rounded” label. For their first release as a production outfit Ultrasound have distilled Dubstep through a refined apparatus of trip-hop, soundsystem warmth, Berlin texture and sheer musical sensibility into something both unique and familiar. With big support from the leftfield of Dubstep and tastemakers like Belgiums Bunzero. HIZZLE GUY is a young Brighton based DJ who along with his Gangoon Dubz crew has taken Brighton by storm with his raw and instinctive DJ style and tunes. We really can’t overemphasize how much energy this guy has on the decks, and it transfers straight to his tunes. Dread is an absolute low slung monster of a tune in the rave, at once hype filled and drudgingly weighty, with a loping propulsion and gully vibe thats been sorely lacking from “dancefloor” dubstep of late. Think Slaughter Mob meets Cluekid and you’re part way there. Already getting big support from names like Sukh Knight and Afterdark.

As one of the pioneers of the tech-step genre he is well known for his cinematic otherworldly soundscapes, It has often been suggested that he move into doing film soundtracks as his sound often conveys a strong visual element. Teamed with his sought after talent for producing dancefloor pounding rhythms, he has managed to stay at the pinnacle of the scene to this day.

In 2005 Dom started his own label Dom & Roland Productions releasing the creme de la creme of Drum and Bass collaborations, as well as being an outlet for his own work. An accomplished sound engineer, Dom is well known to have co-produced and mixed some of the classics of the drum and bass scene, including Subway with Ed Rush, Sonar with DJ Trace, appearing as guest producer alongside Optical on Grooveriders seminal Prototype Years album, as well as having enjoyed enormous success with many of his own tracks including the mighty Thunder, Imagination and Can’t Punish Me. The late John Peel a longtime fan, also approached Dom to commission a piece of work although sadly this dream was never realised.

Over the years Dom & Roland releases have been commissioned for several Playstation games and licensed to television in various countries including the BBC and Channel 4 in England. More recently Dom has continued his passion for pushing the boundaries of music technology, contributing from a producer’s standpoint, by being an advisor to various music software companies, including Native Instruments and Focusrite, taking studio tools to the next generation.

In his latest album No Strings Attached, in addition to his latest solo work, Dom has teamed up with the current crop of big name producers to release a 12 track album, featuring collaborations with Amon Tobin of Ninja records, the trendy Dutch super producers Noisia, Violence label owner Hive, Audio, and last but by no means least Rob Playford, Dom’s old label boss, now close friend, also known as the co-producer and engineer of Goldie’s legendary timeless album. Doms latest album is one of his finest works to date and is due for release in late November on all formats.
