The album to end all albums is on target for release on 05.12.2011. It is not fully understood how any other albums will be able to compete after the ‘Commercial Suicide Compilation’ has been released but the world has been warned.

Commercial Suicide is the vanguard of Drum and Bass and has been since it’s inception 10 years ago. Proving a fertile breeding ground for new approaches to dancefloor Drum and Bass and beyond, it is only now after 10 years that a full compilation has taken shape.

Break, Calibre, Klute, Dub Phizix, Vicious Circle; the list of con- tributors reads like a who’s who of contemporary drum and bass production. The Commercial Suicide ‘Compilation’ features 13 of the best d&b tunes of all styles, from established names to the very hottest new faces on the scene.

The music business has changed immensely over the 10 years since Commercial Suicide was born, but one thing has remained constant; a great compilation can define a genre and it’s era. Klute has once again proved his peerless A&R skills with an album that reflects and defines the Commercial Suicide sound in the year 2011, while pointing the entire Drum and Bass genre forward with it’s foot firmly on the gas pedal.

It’s that time again where we proudly announce a brand new Calibre LP, due for release on 3rd October 2011. It’s at this point that we usually hand it over to Calibre himself to briefly introduce the album in his own words….

“Condition is my drum and bass follow up to “Even If”, I originally wanted to make an album that was more dance floor influenced, to have a more light hearted approach, in some ways it has that, but I couldn’t stop myself from making the deeper material, for years i have wrestled with the subtle side of drum and bass, my journey has been one that tries to attain the simple groove, to keep removing the layers of this music, this album is an expression of this, and how im still feeling the underdog waiting for the cycle……. it came about as it always has and thats the way its supposed to, enjoyable and moving fast to discover the stillness.”

Dom of Dom & Roland needs no introduction. With his Roland sampler, he has been at the apex of drum and bass since the mid 90ʻs. One of the original pioneers of the techstep sound. NME once called him the George Lucas of the scene, due to his unfaltering ability to provide the listener with an auralʼgasm of epic soundscapes inspired by the visuals of a thousand sci-fi movies.

The Big Bang will be his fifth album and builds upon a sturdy framework of singles, albums and remixes going right back to when he was signed to Moving Shadow with itʼs now legendary cult status. His previous album credits read like a whoʼs who of electronic music and have featured collaborations with creative masterminds like Optical, Matrix, Hive, Rob Playford, Noisia and Amon Tobin.

Dom & Roland

This album being completely solo is a departure from his previous four. In Domʼs own words “Apart from being something Iʼve never done before, I wanted to get back to what I originally loved about DnB back in the late 90ʼs and turn it into something more modern whilst retaining full control of the creation myself. I was also interested to see if there was still a place for the kind of dirty funk that Iʼm into in todays ultra clean digital world” So what do you get? “Epic Lucusʼesque monsters” Flux and Enforced , “Tearouts” 2097 and Paralax, “Steppers” Cigars n Money and Terminate , “Neurofunkin” Nostradamus, Capsicum and Footnotes, “Rollers” Dune and Raptor and not forgetting a Dom trademark “Vocal Amen Smasher” Electric Smile VIP. It covers all bases of the music that has made Dom what he is today and if todays current big name DJʼs are to be believed, it will be remembered as one of his best. You only have to search for the youtube video of DJ Marky “broking out” to Enforced which he played as his last tune at Global Gathering this year to see the impact this album will have this year and for the years to come.

RECIPE020 – Trex / Villem – Recipe Book Volume One Part Three – 12″ Vinyl
Part 3 of the album brings some serious dancefloor action. Trex’s “Bad Reaction” is a smasher! Reminiscent of oldskool Dj Hype & Twisted individual, this is great Jungle music. Grooverider’s rewind track 2 weeks in a row on Radio one, keep an eye on this guy.Villem is one half of Mute (Mute & Mako) and has forthcoming releases on Symmetry to boot. “Splinter in your mind” is one of the labels’ favourites, great rolling drums, super low sub rolls & excellent production, yet another banger in the series! Dj support comes from Hazard, Lee, Total science, Grooverider, Marcus intalex & more.

Released as a 2 X 12” with the full length 11 track CD Album shrink-wrapped. Following up from State of Mind’s brand new album ‘Nil by Ear’, comes a very special remix EP featuring some select cuts from the record. State of Mind recruited some of the scenes most unique talents and gave them the opportunity to turn their hand to a tune of their choice. Hungary’s Chris Su chose to remix Vega featuring P.Digsss of Shapeshifter and Hospital records, while Nymfo worked his magic on Novocain Dub. Both remixes are perfect for the dancefloor and the ipod alike. The big bubbler is Germany’s Neonlight remix of Three Dimensions. Clips have appeared all over youtube ever since SOM played this banger on their Next Level podcast. The kids are literally chomping at the bit for this tech smasher. Finally check out Smooth’s awesome remix of Somebody stop me, a perfect re-visioning that proves liquid isnt dead!

CITRUS045 – Mindscape & Ryme Tyme / Jade & Mastif – Sickness (Zero Method Remix) / Time Trap – 12″ Vinyl
The original version of Sickness by Mindscape and Ryme Tyme featured on the Citrus album ‘Juiceblender 2′, and was the HIT single of the album. As a taster for the album it was also released as a limited edition coloured vinyl sampler and that was sold out in just a few weeks! For the remix we have the new Hungarian production talent ZERO METHOD stepping in. The potential of his talent is extreme as you will hear when you are listening to this killer remix. While the original vibe is fully respected, the remixs brings just that edge to it people want to experience on the dancefloor. A very very tight production and a fave for dj’s like Ed Rush, Dose, Nymfo and alot more for some time now!As every dnb head must know the Budapest drum’n bass scene is creating some of the most innovative sounds out there. With guys like Jade, Mindscape, Zero Method and Chris.SU pushing eachother to build even better sounds than the next. Jade and Mastif with their new track for Citrus are a good example of the gems that come out of the constant wish to top eachother sounds. Time Trap is one roller to the extreme with the aggresive synth stabs and explosive beats another killer!!

MENTALLY007 – Katharsys / Forbidden Society – Psychosis / Domination – 12″ Vinyl
Katharsys, from the ancient greek word ‘catharsys’ meaning the emotional cleansing of the audience in relation to drama, is an extreme change in emotion. The main focus of the duo is to create intense sounds which evoked that kind of extreme changes, into electronic music. Producing from darkstep to neurofunk hard drum&bass, Katharsys has reached different labels, such as Habit (US),Guerilla (US), Barcode (UK), Sinuous (UK), and Obscene (UK), and have progressed to playing their hard as balls sets out to fans around Europe. Mentally Disturbd releases the harder sounds of the French duo, while on the flip you can find a collab with probably the hardest working man in the hard dnb scene and label owner of the Forbidden Society recordings. Supported by: Counterstrike, Donny, Dylan, Cooh, Evol Intent, Audio, Dj Hidden, Nanotek, Dean Rodell and Forbidden Society.

Finish copy promo. Here we present a mighty talented D & B export from Holland in the form of Nymfo; His tracks can be frequently heard in drum and sets almost everywhere from everyone and we’re sure that the featured A side “Recollection” that he presents for us as at Dispatch as his debut release on the label will be no exception! The other track making up this release is just just as devastating as the A side “Desert Heat” which has been written by Dispatch artist Cern & Nymfo together provides the kind of intro that might give a false sense of safety; that is before it drops and releases some solid heavy hitting drum work and some pure internal organ shaking low end sub.A mass of support on this release from the A-list gang such as; Alix Perez, Icicle, London Elektricity, Ulterior Motive, Ant TC1, Total Science, Survival, Fierce, Spectrasoul, Hybris, Skeptical, Vicious Circle, Universal Project, Stray, Anile, Octane & DLR, EBK, State of Mind, Judda & Krakota.

DMND004 – BTK & Optiv – Crawler / Music Within – 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. It’s clear to see that the first half of 2011 has been an amazing one for Demand Records. With their first release jumping straight into the Beatport charts at #1, the second seeing Nymfo’s first ever remix and with the ink still drying on the license request for Demand’s third release to appear on the latest compilation CD from UKF, it’s clear that this label has achieved more than most start-ups. So it’s no real surprise that the fourth outing from the Swiss-owned imprint is something special too. Here we see Cause 4 Concern member and highly accomplished solo producer, Optiv, team up with Renegade Hardware’s BTK to craft two incredible drum & bass tracks with a completely unique feel. ‘Crawler’ features Presence Known on the beats who helps Optiv & BTK to craft a tribal drum-led slice of D&B with expertly placed sound FX and atmospheric touches. This is like a modern twist on the classic Virus sound, flexing delicate and understated beats with winding mid range synths and deep sub-bass. Impeccable!Backing it up is ‘Music Within’ featuring Podage & LaMeduza. Building slowly and gradually with powerful vocals, once again we’re treated to an education in the art of subtle drum & bass. If you’re looking for rinsed out amens and heavily distorted reese basslines then turn your attentions elsewhere, because this track is as beautiful as it is elegant. It won’t be turning any raves upside down, but that’s not really the point of good music, is it?

‘Man will begin to recover the moment he takes art as serious as physics, chemistry, or money’ With a mindset of D.I.Y. and a vision of the future, drum and bass producers GEIN have unleashed their record label BAD CHEMISTRY RECORDINGS on the world’s ears. And with five years of production credit, as well as 5 years of record label management with HABIT RECORDINGS, the trio is set to stir up the drum and bass scene with a conceptual label that defies people’s set standards. With Bad Chemistry, GEIN is turning heads all across the board with collaborations you would come to expect, never expect, as well as new solo material that breaks stereotypes. And with support from major players in the drum and bass world, the hype is growing daily. With the 4th release, GEIN brought us ‘Motherfucker’ produced by GEIN, backed with ‘Schizm’ a collab with COOH!

Drum and bass is a worldwide thing and Celsius keeps on delivering good music no mather where it was made. BULB straight from Vladimir Russia teaming up with Germany’s most hyped mc FAVA. Nice spaced out intro with vocals from the FAVA leading way to the rolling sounds of a melodic-bomb. Keep an eye on this man. He is already getting noticed with his latest outing appearing in Markus Intalex Soulution Radio and Microfunk podcast. His ‘Distinctions of the same’ tune with Tiiu vocals, appeared in Hospital June Democast and in 2011 it was released on Med School’s ‘New Blood 011′ compilation. NOPPACD001 – Tes La Rok – Them – CD
Tes La Rok’s highly anticipated debut album entitled ‘Them’ will finally see the light of day. Tes La Rok made his name in dubstep circles in 2007 with the massive “Round The World Girls Remix” which immediately positioned him as one of the most exciting artists and definitely one to watch. Anthem releases such as ‘Under The Dancing Feet’ remix for Clouds, ‘Wikidness Remix’ for Mungo’s Hi-Fi, and ‘Up In The Vip / Living Fire’ on Dub Police were soon followed by bookings at DMZ in Brixton and dubstep mecca FWD>> at Plastic People. ‘Them’ features thirteen tracks engineered with precision and care. ‘Invasion’ sets the album off in a deep and minimal flavour followed by the dark and abyssal ‘Earth’. The album title track ‘Them’ mixes techno flavours with tribal percussions and futuristic basslines. ‘Murda’ takes the sound back to the year 2006 which is the year when it was originally composed and luckily recovered from a destroyed hard drive! ‘Virus’ is a dark mutated sci-fi roller followed by ‘You & I’, the track that has been causing waves all over the world. Tes gives a taste of his old junglist roots on 140bpm amen roller ‘Secrets’ and as a follow-up tests his hands on hip hop vibes in ‘Malfunction’. ‘Tribal Ting’ and ‘Spiritual Ting’ showcase the more known Tes La Rok dubwise production and his profound love to dig dub stepper sounds. ‘What’ and ‘From The Shadows’ combine deep & beautiful atmospheres with post-garage drums patterns and subheavy basslines. To bring the album to a finale and give a hint of the future, ‘Turn It Up’ brings in chopped vocals and raw 808 bass. Coming from the land of three months of nearly zero sunlight it is by no means a surprise that this album is deep, dark and futuristic. From the music to the artwork there’s a touch of Bladerunner and Alien. These tracks are being championed by the main players such as Distance, N-Type, Kryptic, Minds, Desto, Pinch, Addison Groove and Cyrus.

EXIT031 – Synkro & Indigo – Guidance – 12″ Vinyl
Never afraid to write music from the heart rather than trying to fit a mould Synkro & Indigo bring a refreshing and inspirational sound to the table and Exit Records are proud to provide an outlet for their work. Their dedicated followers have eagerly awaited guidance, and there’s good reason. Awash with lush atmospheres and vocals it’s a track that manages to touch the listener’s soul and becomes more addictive the more it’s listened to. Delayed snare rolls and fills create an ocean of space for the ambience to develop into a warm and cosey blanket of pure bliss. Reflection contains the same emotion triggering qualities as the A side and is the perfect partner. A little more drum based than its accomplice but just as soothing, it takes you through a workout of intricate beat edits and mixes distant classical vocals with subtle chord progressions.

3024014 – Jon Convex – Convexations – 12″ Vinyl
Coming off the back off a sustained period of acclaim as one half of Instramental (an act who you haven’t heard the last of) we’re incandescently proud to debut longtime 3024 alumni Damon Kirkham’s first solo material as Jon Convex with a sound that strikes off in a direction entirely of its own, while mirroring the roaming analogue methodology of his group’s latter day work.Opener ‘Convexations’ raises the curtain with traces of Yamaha fog and a hollowed out kick before a bassline fusing Giorgio Moroder with The Human Centipede rears up to provide unrelenting forward momentum. Glimpses of dialogue warped to the point of gibberish, an ever growing chorus of muttering percussive synths and a zero gravity drop complete the picture of a ride in cattle class all the way to Pittsburgh.’Falling Again’ dials back its predecessor’s intensity, evoking a robotic production line take on UKG. A metronomic 2-step rhythm forms the basis for a replicant diva’s final performance while another strikingly organic bass line spends the duration of the track expanding and arcing with all the grace of a particularly low frequency solar flare.Exclusive to the digital version is ‘Order Into Chaos’. The first Jon Convex track we heard, a particularly intense 3024 board meeting saw it declared too good to leave sitting on the shelf. The most (warehouse) floor focused track offered here and a heads down simmering vat of acid, the surface of which sporadically erupts in frothing signal distortion and T1000 kicks. With the audio content taking a turn into harder and darker territory, Erosie’s inimitable artwork provides an inky curve ball by taking his collage series into a softer but no less vivid palette providing another perfect visual counterpoint to proceedings.

Finally SCUM recordings unleashes its next talents.. Crushtington hailing from New Zealand is no unknown face in the DnB scene.. can you guess who it is? And like the Dnb they make this Dubstep isn’t for the faint hearted. As your used to from the SCUM camp we’re bringing you next level heavyweight riddims and this release is no exception. The single starts off with Big Hit.. A electrified stepper with a hefty 4×4 drop.. Crushtington shows what their worth right here and now with this one. Smash this one on the decks and see the dancefloor crumble at your feet. No happy jum up styles here just straight up grimness! Next up its King Koopa. Unlike the giant lizard who Super Mario needs to defeat to save his precious princess this is one ferocious, mean, fire breathing track that won’t let go so easy. This one packs a punch that will knock any mushroom or fire flower straight out of your big body in seconds. So better make sure you got some 1up’s to make it through this one!

NS008R – Girl Unit – Wut (Claude Vonstroke Remixs) – 12″ Vinyl
We were adamant: “no ‘Wut’ remixes”. But when Vonstroke comes knocking you let him in!Driven by CVS’ own enthusiasm for Girl Unit’s 2010 anthem, the Dirty Bird label boss submitted to us three different versions of his remix, each progressively more stripped down. All three transform ‘Wut’ from gleaming crunk anthem to bass-driven house metatool, expanding on its raw big-room essence. Here we release two of the three versions. On side A Vonstroke’s “Undressed” mix borrows Girl Unit’s synth arrangements and vocal tics, keeping all the ecstasy and emotion of the original for its epic swells, which build up to huge cavernous drops of pitched Miami bass hits and clattering 808s. Quintessentially CVS, this is the sound of Night Slugs x Dirty Bird. On side AA is the “Butt Naked Mix” (title picked by Vonstroke in true DB style). This version relates to the original only in the most spectral sense, stripping away almost all of Girl Unit’s stems and melodic elements. The result is a beautifully restrained rhythm track, a machine-like big-room dub that builds and drops so elegantly yet so devastatingly. The work of a true master!

NOPPALP001 – Tes La Rok – Them LP – 12″ Vinyl x 3
Finish copy, Tes La Rok’s highly anticipated debut album entitled ‘Them’ will finally see the light of day.

The plan was finally realised after a string of coincidences and happy accidents led them to sharing a house in the northern suburbs of Helsinki. ORCA004 – xxxy – You Gotta Do You – 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy. Following the huge success of XI’s second release, Orca Recordings is back to deliver its highly anticipated forth instalment; this time from the highly versatile Xxxy , who has delivered two unbelievably cuts for his first 12” on the label. It has been an unbelievable year for Xxxy, with the success of ‘You Always Start It’ on Ten Thousand Yen capturing the attention of many of the scene’s tastemakers including Mount Kimbie, Untold MJ Cole and many others. With his new outing on Orca, Xxxy’s musical style has evolved considerably to incorporate a whole new set of influences and ideas, which leads us to proudly announce that the productions set to be released in the Orca series are ‘You Gotta Do You’ and ‘Open Your Eyes’. ‘You Gotta Do You’ sees Xxxy venture into new sonic territory drawing influence from acid techno, continuing the creative exploration of this classic sound alongside other contemporary artists like Boddika and Blawan. The driving 808’s and futuristic synth arpeggios give this all the heavy vibes of a classic Underground Resistance release with a unique modern interpretation. On the flip, ‘Open Your Eyes’ carries a completely different focus, taking on all the features of an early 90’s jungle anthem and re-contextualizing them into 130bpm amen drivenworkout. Both of these productions are from the ethos that looking into the past for musical inspiration and to create a new breed of sound that is strong enough to smash the biggest clubs but versatile enough to please the most discerning headphone listener.

BRK020 – Erra – Stax / Jookup – 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy, Berkane Sol present the vinyl debut of Erra. Erra comes bursting through your speakers with a riot of tuff drums and sweet melody – its like the sound of someone who’s rinsed their console so much that its gone way beyond high scores and into a full on system meltdown. ‘Stax’ starts out with a dreamy intro which leads into the rudest of wake up calls – a proper peak-time jackin’ synth stab married to a smartly evolved bassline, all driven by concussive garage flavoured rhythms. ‘Jookup’ on the flip again demonstrates Erra’s irresistible talent for blending blissful keys with hectic dancefloor moments, this time really bringing the sickly grime synths to the front, with some cute but disembodied vocals punctuating the action. The 12” follows up Erra’s popular L2S digital release ‘Cake Music’, and neatly shows off this young producers rapid development. These tracks have been getting love from people such as: Al Tourettes (Applepips), Mary Anne Hobbs, Brackles (Rinse FM), N Type (Wheel and Deal), DJ Flight (1 Xtra), Spamchop (Wigflex), 2562 (Tectonic), Shortstuff (Ramp), Cardopusher (Hyperdub), Martyn (3024), Martin Kemp (Blunted Robots), Elgato (Hessle Audio), Selector dub U (Hotflush), Skipple (Sub FM), West Norwood Cassette Library (Teal), King Thing (Fortified)

PLATTER002 – S-Max & Spatial – Ms. Rosen Dub / Corti – 12″ Vinyl
The second serving from Schmorgasbord brings together two relatively disparate and unrelated artists, but who both share a uniquely twisted approach to making music. S-Max has been doing his thing for some time, running legendary home all things bizarre in house and techno, Boogizm, and releasing a special kind of groove on labels such as Telegraph, 7th City and Karloff. His original track, ‘Ms. Rosen Dub’, swaggers and sways with the spirit of classic Yorkshire bleeps and bass. The groove is house, but the spirit of adventure is most definitely techno. His remix of Spatial’s ‘Corti’ takes a very different approach, taking a rolling, jungle-like approach to dubstep and nailing it to the groove with stabbing bass notes. Spatial leapt onto the bass music radar late 2008 with his shadowy Infrasonics imprint, and quickly snapped heads with his crisp, refined approach to 2-step rhythms. Since then he’s done things on his own terms, only releasing for himself and mutating his sound over a series of 10”s. ‘Corti’ perfectly demonstrates Spatials unconventional tendencies, lurching and buckling around a perfectly honed splatter of beats, off-centre synths and delirious vocal snippets. Meanwhile on his remix of S-Max, Spatial flips the script once again with a stomping, swung techno angle that hammers the original into an uptempo, fist-pumping banger.

OUTNL001 – Kastil – Dusty Edits – 12″ Vinyl
File under Disco Edits. As an extension of their Dutch electronic music website Outernational.nl, we present you the newly born imprint Outernational Recordings. The kick off for this unique vinyl series is by Basque County native Kastil who sets the right tone with three wonderful Disco edits at a mid-tempo / slomo pace. Since uploading these tracks to his SoundCloud page, the feedback has been enormous. Side A contains the long, slow and loopy ‘Back to Philadelphia’, where Kastil cleverly plays with the vocals and delay and creates a highly tense build up. There’s no doubt that some large players in the very popular Disco edit culture will play this one out. On the B1 side you find the track ‘SMD’. A track which received great feedback by some key figures on SoundCloud. This track is the ultimate pre-lude for the summer. Fortunately, this is being released just early enough to enjoy this during the European and Northern American summer. With again beautiful vocals floating through the track, this track definitely reminds one of a hot day in the local park. The B2 track is called ‘Rolls Royce’. Perfect as the last track of this release since it’s a long edit which ends with a very atmospheric piano solo that keeps on floating through the last few minutes of the track. All and all, these edits will definitely make some heads turn after the date of release. Supported by: Cosmic Boogie, Dicky Trisco, The Legendary 1979 Orchestra, Sleazy Beats Recordings, Ben La Desh, 78 Edits, Osvaldo Wilson, Mannmademusic, Gitchell Moore

RWINA013 – Desto – Makowrap EP – 12″ Vinyl
Rwina Records follows up Doshy’s unforgettable ‘Suspiria’ EP with yet another massive and dramatic A-side, this time from Finnish dubstep producer Desto. Like ‘Suspiria’, Desto’s ‘Makowrap’ is all about uncompromising focus, exacting precision and killer melodies, with the normally hyperactive producer temporarily shelving his loopy constructions and frantic arpeggios and instead favouring a measured, slowly building progression instead. Desto’s volatile energy is channelled into bursts of epic, triumphant melody, undeniably anthemic each and every single time they stream out blindingly over the track’s weighty kick, a reminder that this is, in fact, bass music after all. The hushed chords and skittering, exaggerated snares that dribble and melt all over the track put a noticeably hip-hop slant that permeates the rest of the EP.The other two tracks hearken back to the usual kind of colourful dubstep Desto is associated with, all arpeggiated fireworks and topsy-turvy synth chords. ‘Neptune’ staggers down a descending progression into plateaus of sub-bass throb as synths twinkle and shoot out from the empty spaces, playful percussive accents peeking out mischievously, the sound of drum machines misbehaving. The other track on the flipside focus around vocal samples, with ‘Overkrookd’ attacking a frightened vocal with monotonous LFO stabs that occasionally break through into an undersea world of squiggling chords and bubbling melodies, Jokeresque majesty that quickly flatlines back into the track’s unforgiving mechano-skank.Finally, as an exclusive extra digital; ‘React’ drops somersaulting breakbeats over more of those aqueous 8-bit synths, alternately trilling gently and smearing themselves across the wet, mouldy canvas. While it’s quite possibly the label’s most dubstep-centric release yet, Desto’s ‘Makowrap’ is just another in a series of masterful releases combining the most colourful and vibrant sectors of dubstep and grime with hip-hop swagger, melodically rich while keeping them fully focused on the dancefloor.

The second release from Dubs Alive’s sister label, TUBA, features the deep and intense sound of the UK’s J:Kenzo. His A side track, Nocturnal Feelings Is a dark, serious work that brilliantly juxtaposes hard bass lines, frantic percussion, and atmospheric depth. The B side debuts The Spit Brothers on vinyl with Beg to Differ, a sub driven, meditative, and minimalistic affair. The record closes with DJG’s Reformat of Beg to Differ. This forward thinking track showcases DJG’s intelligent approach to bass music. His reformat balances the deep with the dance oh-so-well

UNTITLED004 – 501 feat. Kaleb – Strings Attached / Smoke And Mirrors – 12″ Vinyl
Strings Attached: The trance intro might leave some confused to what to expect from the drop. But when it does it takes away all confusion and injects you with a shot of adrenaline with it’s catchy bass and filtered vocals courtesy of Kaleb. This tune has had serious impact across the globe as a dubplate and will have an even bigger impact upon it’s release.Smoke and Mirrors: Smoke and Mirrors has Finnish supertalent 501 showing his ability to fuse different elements into one big tune. From the morphing guitars in the intro to the purple drop and twisted vocals with glitchy fx further in it is clear why this producer is hot on every one’s lip. This tune just progresses and progresses and will leave you wanting to flip over to the b-side.

June 6th 2011 sees a rare solo-Paradox LP hit the world’s record stores after a 9-year album exile.
The ‘Ramifications LP’ is a welcome return to the building blocks of breakbeat wizadry that Paradox built up during his reign at 4-Hero’s legendary Reinforced Records and this third artist instalment (and incredibly Mr Pandya’s ninth vinyl album overall) is his best studio album to date.

You need to cast your minds back to 2002 to dig up the last Paradox long-player with it’s collection of Jungle and Breakbeat tempos with a Live P.A. DVD to boot, and the ‘Ramifications LP’ continues the fashion with razor sharp breaks and grooves ranging from 125 to 172 bpm in classic Paradox style.

Paradox

A sampler 12” [PM021] featuring sampler-only mixes will precede the album and then the full ‘Ramifications LP’ drops via glorious 3×12” Marble-splattered vinyl packs alongside a stunning Solid-Black Compact disc edition for the music lovers and record collectors alike [PMLP02/PMLPCD02].

SECOPS016 – Seba & Physics – Before I Can Breathe / The Music – 12″ Vinyl
Second release on secret operations this year is by Seba & Finnish Producer and DJ Physics.“Before I can breathe” is a beatiful vocal piece with a steppy beat and a typical old skool “reese bass”. The flipside “The Music” is a heavier track that starts off with eeire strings and switches to heavily distorted beats and basslines. Watch out for secops 017 by Andyskopes & Mr. Joseph.

TKRUK001 – Prolix / Gridlok & Skitty – Freeze Frame / Con Artist – 12″ Vinyl
TRENDKILL RECORDS is a brand new imprint from Prolix (Playaz, Ganjatek, Metalheadz, Virus) and with it he brings his very own brand of distinctive hard hitting drum and bass. The A Side is a solo track which has been smashing sound systems accross the globe, a true anthem to start or end any DJ set. The AA sees LA based producer Gridlok ( Project51/ Violence/RAM) team up with UKs own Skitty (Metalheadz/Foundation x) to make a track with more than equal power to the A Side.

DSM018 – Anile – Last March EP – 12″ Vinyl
Anile, DSM’s baby-faced assassin, steps up to deliver the second artist EP on the label, and one of the most talked about releases of the second half of 2010. Climbing steadily through the ranks with releases on Loxy’s Cylon imprint and the seminal Renegade Hardware label, DSM is proud to have one of the brightest production talents currently operating in drum & bass on its roster. This EP takes DSM further into the darker territory it started exploring with DSM014 & 016 and it does not disappoint. The title track of this EP is the bouncy stepper ‘Last March’. A snarling, distorted bassline has meant that this tune has found favour with numerous a-listers in recent times and is a worthy tune for the EP to be named after. On the flip, is the ferocious ‘Disaffected’. Eeerie pads and atmospheres make way for a driving drum loop and sub bass before all hell breaks loose at the drop with one of the nastiest, most twisted reese basslines heard for a very long time. The influence of labels such as the aforementioned Renegade Hardware is obvious, and it is one of, if not the, most ferocious and devastating slice of d&b ever to grace DSM.

FCR003EP – Paper Crows – Fingertips (Break Remix) / Follow The Leader E.P. – 12″ Vinyl
‘Follow The Leader’/’Fingertips’ is the second release from rising stars Paper Crows, who’ve already caught the attention of tastemakers across the blogosphere, print and radio. Follow The Leader’ is a brilliantly, dark, unsettling, underground track that comes with a top drawer remix package. Hotly tipped newcomers Megabits deliver an insanely unique widescreen drum & bass/breaks/electro hybrid, while the legend that is Break delivers another stunning drum & bass remix. ‘Fingertips’ is quite simply a stunning song oozing with wild atmospheric beauty. It has aptly been described as “the marching of dreams on a star studded night” and is already being championed by Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw. Paper Crows have been wowing audiences with their live shows with sultry singer Emma Panas mesmerising with her spectral vocals and dramatic stage presence. With still less than a dozen gigs under their belt, they’ve already supported the likes of Jamie Woon and Clock Opera. Their next show is at the Barfly in Camden on the 4th February. They’ll be playing alongside Anna Calvi and Sparrow & The Workshop as part of HMV’s Next Big Thing festival. The pair are currently in the studio recording their debut album.

MLDB001 – Kevin Rudolf Ft Lil Wayne, Jay Sean & Birdman – I Made It (Cash Money Heroes) Rockwell Remix – 12″ Vinyl
Welcome to the world of Melted Dubs. A new label that will be vinyl only and all releases will be limited runs. Our debut is a tune that has been bubbling on the underground for a while a true clash of UK meets US. Rockwell takes the Cash Money Family (Lil Wayne, Birdman, Kevin Rudolf and the UKs very own International superstar Jay Sean) from the dirtee South to a whole ‘nother place. Rockwell has been doing amazing things in DnB for a while now but this is something else. Soulful and Funky, Fast and slow. You feel the groove but can’t quite place it. Already working for the few DJ’s that have it. This is set to do big things. If you are not a vocal person there is a killer dub too. Enjoy and Be quick !!

MODULE006 – Vicious Circle & Jubei – Deliberate – 10″ Vinyl
Moving on from the last heavy hitting Modulations release and we’re treated to an even more sturdy effort from two names that need no introduction. A bit of a dream collaboration between Vicious Circle and Metalheadz man Jubei, and where better place to serve it up than from Critical’s Modulations imprint. ‘Cloak & Dagger’ wastes no time and kicks off with a solid stepping break as eerie space warped pads wrap around to suck us deep into the wormhole. Heinous bass slams on this sound system killer, perfect for some late night 3am entertaining and leaves us in no doubt of a properly undiluted low-slung king of the rollers. Nasty, naughty but nice. Sliding perfectly into the second slab and ‘Deliberate’ continues much in the same vein but it manages to up the ante with some even more sickening bassline action. Running percussion increases the pace whilst the bass stabs take it up another notch for a heads down, no nonsense slice of D&B goodness. Never fails. DJ support from Alix Perez, Rockwell, Lenzman, Kasra, D Bridge and more.

SS015 – Thought – Resist / Holism – 12″ Vinyl
Soothsayer returns with its twentieth vinyl plate and proudly presents the addition of SS015 and artist Thought to the roster. Hailing from Sofia, Bulgaria Ivan Sotirov (Thought) has quickly built a reputation for employing the hardest beats to be had in Eastern Europe. Having played Therapy Sessions and released a 12″ on the famed UK label, Obscene, Thought rise to prominence continues with his Soothsayer debut – a slab of heavy tribal breaks and halfstep riddims dubbed up plenty of dark bass. Resist is a dark tribal affair with grinding mid rage bass and intricate percussion. Stylistically the tune yields the best elements of a steppa, a roller, and a stormer all meld together in a tightly weld concoction of brutality. Bludgeoning beats and corrosive bass for the dubwize massive and rivetheads alike. Holism is a sinister tribal half steppa that has previously been slated for release by Loxy and Tech Itch. We at Soothsayer were elated to acquire Holism to complete this epic double a sided offering. Pumping sub bass pads, mid range dirt, and tribal dub manoeuvres govern this track. Robust enough to appeal to junglists and dubsteppers alike, Holism is a blazing wedge of outright aural wretchedness.

HBR002 – Optimum – Light Year / DS-10 – 12″ Vinyl
Hum + Buzz return with their first release of 2011 from label co-founder Optimum. After releasing his debut EP ‘Max Power’ for Planet Mu in 2010, contributing to the excellent Night Slugs Allstars Vol. 1 and Modeselektion Vol. 1 compilations, Optimum returns on Hum + Buzz with two sci-fi, dancefloor tracks. ‘Light Year’ is a 4X4 time travelling excursion through brass rhythms, dotted arpeggios and razor sharp percussion. Gangsta techno meets UK bass, a crossover that Optimum seems to be making his own. On the B side ‘DS10’, named after (and partly made on) the Korg software for the Nintendo DS, is a menacing march that progresses into the unknown. All superfluous elements are discarded; the track focuses squarely on the relentless bassline and unpredictable 808 drum pattern. With these minimal ingredients combined, DS10 is a certified sound system bomb!

DJ Madd has been killing it recently. It’s another knee-slapping combination drenched in powerful vibes and both tunes are nasty, guttural affairs sure to make your eyeballs rattle. TEC048 – Pinch & Loefah / Pinch & Roska – Broken / Paranormal Activity – 12″ Vinyl
With only one collaboration (alongside fellow DMZ stalwart SGT Pokes under the name ASBO, also for Tectonic) seeing light of day in the last three and a half years, it really has been a long time since dubstep pioneer and producer extraordinaire Loefah ventured out on wax. Responsible for originating the half-step beat in dubstep that came to dominate so much of the scene – with groundbreaking early titles such as ‘Horror Show’, ‘System’ and ‘Ruffige’ – Loefah’s beats always had huge impact on the dancefloor as well as in the studios of other beat-makers, caught by the power of his sound. More recently he’s become predominately focused on his genre challenging DJ sets as well as running his hugely successful Swamp 81 imprint, so this rare studio excursion with Tectonic label boss Pinch is a treat for all to behold.’Broken’ starts with a single delaying hat splash as swirling white noise rises from beneath with gale force strength. This relatively gentle moment is soon disturbed by the menacing sound of a tearing bass hit – a twisted sound layered in weighted sub power. Tense pads with distorted edges add to the build before everything pulls out to silence allowing a perfectly timed drop. In comes the full weight of bass as a pounding 808-style rhythm drops – complete with head cracking snares and swung hats – as the main bass sound punches through, ‘Broken’ embarks on a master class in minimal effectiveness. An unmissable collaborative effort between two studio heavyweights, and just how dubstep is meant to sound.Flip for an equally exciting joint effort from Pinch and rising UK Funky and Rinse FM star Roska. Nomi-nated by DJ Mag for the prized title of Producer Of The Year in 2010, Roska is known more for his 130bpm funky productions but this collaboration takes the tempo up to 140bpm for an exercise in rhyth-mical maximality – a frantic but rolling conga workout session. Meticulous drum programming is layered with dark reverbed sonics, spooky pads and a gut wrenching sub bass line guaranteed to cause stomach upset on the right systems. ‘Paranormal Activity’ will summon the ancient spirits so be careful where you drop it. All told, this plate is an essential purchase for true fans of the original dubstep vibe.

TEC049 – Addison Groove – This Is It / Make Um Bounce – 12″ Vinyl
Massive new Tectonic 12″ from man of the moment – Bristol’s very own Addison Groove. Tony Williams aka Addison Groove appeared last year with the anthem ‘Foot Crab’ on Loefah’s impeccable Swamp 81 imprint. Anyone who has been to a dubstep dance in the last year will have likely heard the original or one of many VIP mixes and re-edits of this infectious monster of a tune – or at least seen it listed on count-less end of year ‘best of’ lists and DJ charts more recently.Taking in elements of the Chicago Juke/Footwork scene and bringing in a knowledge of bass heavy dub-step production (as acquired during his former incarnation as Headhunter), Addison Groove has already made a huge, rippling impression on dance music across the world. The world has been holding tight for more Addison Groove ever since, and hot on the tails of a recent fol-low up on Swamp 81 is this excellent 12″ for Tectonic, featuring some of his best work yet. ‘This Is It’ is a bubbly 138bpm dance floor banger, laden with pounding sub-heavy 808 kicks and soul-scraping claps, blending bass science with original Chicago attitude in a way that only Addison Groove can do. The whole rhythm is lifted by rave-flavoured bleeps and blips chiming out in a melodic progression as vocal samples sound out on top. Absolutely enormous tune!Flip for the slower tempo, yet just as danceable ‘Make Um Bounce’. Hitting in at 133bpm, this 4/4 rhythm is getting hammered by everyone from Jackmaster to James Zabeila and as soon as you hear the first kick drum hit, you’ll know why! ZIQ293 – Chrissy Murderbot – Bussin Down EP – 12″ Vinyl
‘Bussin Down’ is the first Planet Mu single from Chrissy Murderbot, who comes with a style inspired by his chosen city of Chicago’s Juke and Footwork scenes. He playfully mixes in elements of other styles of music he loves, such as R’n'B and Dancehall, to create lively mutations with a warm hearted mass appeal that comfortably straddles genres.’Bussin Down’ features Chicago footwork supremo DJ Spinn over some tasty footwork tracks featuring Spinn’s instructional lyrics, over some high speed jazz funk and cracking claps and klaviers. Next track ‘Braaain’ is a unique amalgam of footwork with the classic early digital sleng teng bassline. The blend works fantastically, as Chrissy slides the originals vocal in and out of the mix in a dub style. On the B-side Atki2 takes album track ‘The Vibe Is So Right’ featuring vocals from MC Zulu and runs it through a lush treatment that mixes Detroit washes with tight, laidback, rolling funky house drums, to instant classic effect. On B2, Chicago footwork pioneers DJs Rashad and Spinn send the originals vocal into a whirl of complex delays and layered loops over cold drums and hard techno stabs.Just the faintest taste of what is In store on The M-Bot’s incredible ‘Women’s Studies’ album due soon on Planet Mu.

BR006 – Swindle – Mood Swings EP – 12″ Vinyl
Croydon’s own Swindle gets 2011 off to a great start with his first release on the grime label of the mo-ment, Butterz. The funk-obsessed producer delivers an exercise in dark half-step on the title tune ‘Mood Swings’ with all the funky riffs and synths that fans of ‘Airmiles’ have grown to love since he debuted with that track on Planet Mu.’Bebop’ is a more light-hearted affair with chopped-up vocoder vocal samples coupled with subtle piano keys fading in and out between the up-tempo beat pattern.’Trending Topic’ is one for lovers of Starkey and Terror Danjah alike, as it combines the organic energy of grime with the quirkiness of Swindle’s funk influenced synth patterns.Having already gained support from Starkey, Alexander Nut, Scratcha DVA and DJ Q, the ‘Mood Swings EP’ is shaping up to be yet another instant classic from Swindle and the Butterz label.

HDR003 – P-Jam – Anger Management EP – 12″ Vinyl
Grime has been clawing its way back to the centre of underground UK music in a big way recently, riding a new wave of credibility in futurist iterations from Terror Danjah, Hyperdub, and Butterz. But with the rising profile of figures like Slackk and the eski-aping sound of Becoming Real and sometimes Jam City, there’s been a pseudo-lionization and a growing mythology surrounding classic grime. Honestly, it’s been a long time coming; the music is legendary for a reason. Terror Danjah’s new(ish) Hardrive label takes a bold step in 2011 with a sharp look back-ward, and in typically cyclical fashion it feels perfectly now.Dating all the way back to 2004, P Jam’s ‘Anger Management’ is a minimal monster of a tune, slamming with the same slurred and blurred percussive elements of Wiley’s essential ‘Ice Rink’. But it’s the oddly distant, echoed vo-cal grunts and dirty (grimy?) morphing bassline that really push it into the ‘classic’ category. ‘Anger Management’ simply sounds rough, dirty, and raw, like it could barely be rendered by whatever archaic software produced those sounds.‘Samba’ is from around the same time, and it shares in the same cheap, dulled aesthetic, built out of synth guitar and screeching tires, heavy on the bongos to boot. But you can’t accuse Terror of living in the past, as he rounds out his label’s third release with a brand new track from the veteran producer.Comparatively lush, ‘Sorefoot’ is heavy on the synth sounds, the careful percussion relegated to nudging the track along instead of dominating. It’s fascinating to hear P Jam dress up his classic-leaning sound in shiny new clothes, and heartening that even after all these years he’s evidently still going strong.Even as grime gathers together a promising wave of new producers, there’s life left in its progenitors, and Hardrive

In which 3024′s West Country takeover continues unabated with Addison Groove as one of 2010′s most celebrated Producers fires off a pair of brand new exclusives. ‘It’s Got Me’ drags a cornerstone of classic hip hop into the 21st century with trademark spasmodic Chicago drum acrobatics and vocal splicing working the track into a frenzy while his less acknowledged way with gauzy analogue textures never allow things to slip into the trap of dance floor bludgeon. Minutes Of Funk dials back the ferocity just enough to open up extra space for more luxurious synth washes and increasingly intricate rhythmic shifts as interlocking traces of dance floor past combine to form the thinking mans set opener.

BLR007 – Dark Sky – High Rise – 12″ Vinyl
Having successfully shifted Mickey’s dodgy merchandise, it’s back to business for Blunted Robots.Dark Sky have been all over 2011, with a remix of Kelis and their storming ‘Promiscuous Gyal’ attracting the attention of Annie Mac and Giles Peterson. For Robots they deliver their strongest material to date: a pair of stomping UK Bass workouts, with hard-bodied percussion and swollen sub pressure. These tracks will be available as a limited edition 12” on 2nd May; Only 300 copies will be pressed. Digital download the week after. DJs showing love include Annie Mac, Scratcha DVA, Jackmaster, Untold, Pangaea, Kingdomm, Blackdown

HENCH026 – Lost Ft. Beezy – Snake Eyes / Escape From The Womb – 12″ Vinyl
Lost has come a long way since he took the first steps on his journey into music. As a 12-year old, Lost found ‘Big Apple Records’ in Croydon and embarked upon becoming a DJ. Now a fully-fledged member of H.E.N.C.H, this prodigy has been responsible for some of the most sub shaking releases to have been let forth from the Bristol label’s catalogue to date.A: Snake Eyes (Ft. Beezy) – Lost teams up with Hench’s new signing Beezy. For those that know, you can bet that any track with Beezy’s name on is going to be sordidly sinister. And ‘Snake Eyes’ is no exception. The track commences with an industrial and hazardous sounding scene that’s soon met with Beezy’s catchy hook. Things are teed-up fittingly for a creeping baseline that weaves amongst the dripping backdrop. Before the low-end truly takes you somewhere else, Beezy rejoins with an ever-ominous lyrical gesture to seal the dread-inducing vibe that Lost has created with this charismatic production.AA: Escape from the Womb – In all of Lost’s productions, he’s enigmatic in creating a feeling with his tracks from the get-go. What seems like a calm and atmospheric intro quickly thrusts you toward something you’d be forgiven for not expecting. When that high-voltage bass rhythm gets your attention, sit back, you’re in for the ride. Metallic overtones and pulsating groove make ‘Escape from the Womb’ a genuinely progressive number. This was built to tear dance floors to the ground and has already been doing some serious damage.

2769671 – Jess Mills (produced by James Breakage) – Vultures / Vultures (Photek Dub Mix) – 10″ Vinyl
Jess Mills is on everyone’s lips at the moment as she sets the barrier high with her single Vulture – which is actually out today. Having worked alongside Digital Soundboy main-man, James Breakage, providing the vocals for his track, Fighting Fire. Breakage has returned the favour by producing Vultures. There’s a moody Photek re-edit on the flip, if you know what Rupert Parkes is capable of then you won’t give this one a miss. Limited to 250 Vinyl.

Nil by Ear is Sate of Mind’s third studio album, the first two being Take Control (Uprising) & Faster than Light (SOM). This album represents the peak so far of the lads technical skills, its carefully produced from start to finish. Tracks are frequently tied together, and a lot of thought has gone into the flow of the album. This is one that can be listened too from beginning to end, as opposed to a collection of singles. However that doesn’t mean that State of Mind have forgotten about the 3am raver. Almost all of the tracks have all been smashing it up world wide over the last 6 months in their own right.

Collaboration wise, the album features several of NZ’s most talented vocalists including Shapeshifter’s P.Digsss, Thomas Oliver, Sacha Vee, Mc Woody & PNC, as well as American singer 3pm. The only production collaborators are Nymfo and DNME. Several other collaborations were planned for the LP, but in the end were unable to fit. These will be released as bonus tracks.

There are two Physical formats to pre sale for now. Release date for both formats is April 25th:
