First released back in are in 2008 and now re-released as limited Vinyl repress. Crunch delves deep into the Dutch underground to showcase some of Eindhoven’s established and upcoming talents side by side. Icicle, Martyn, Proxima, Nymfo & Mindmapper lend their signature sounds to help craft an album of deep, futuristic rollers, whilst Erosie , also from Eindhoven created the stunning artwork. A great representation of the scene in Eindhoven, Holland, and Crunch’s musical mantra. MC Verse is currently the frontman of the world famous Rock/Drum n Bass band Pendulum, and also on mic duties for Pendulum DJ sets alongside El Hornet. This gave him the idea to involve some of the artists that he really feels are shining at the moment and would represent his label to the fullest.

After a short spell away, Caspa is back with one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year on his own Sub Soldiers imprint. First up is an anthem that has been lighting up dancefloors airwaves globally as of late, in the shape of ‘Back For The First Time’ featuring Dub Police label mate D1. Gathering heavy support on BBC Radio 1 from Annie Mac & Zane Lowe, as well as being battered in the clubs by the who’s who of dubstep A-listers this is fast becoming one of the biggest tracks to emerge from the scene so far this year and it’s not hard to see why with it’s catchy eutrophic chords and growling bass – this is no doubt going to be one of the tracks of the summer! On the flip Caspa teams up with another label mate; Subscape, for a tune that has torn apart countless dancefloors lately. ‘Geordie Racer’ takes no prisoners with its driving beats and outrageous basslines, anyone who has been lucky enough to be in a rave when this monster drops will no doubt tell you the carnage it creates in the dance. Again gaining support from dubstep royalty and being featured on Caspa’s ‘MyStyle’ mix CD. All in all this is one obscenely big release that you can’t afford to pass on – big things once again from the Caspa & the Sub Soliders / Dub Police camp.

It makes me feel like I’m being subjected to a Voight-Kampff test whilst Harrison Ford tries to figure out if I’m a robot or not… ‘Hesitation’, a collaboration with Southampton’s downtempo maestro Asa, is a beatifically tranquil track driven by celestial vocals and lo-fi garage inspired drums.

After leaving behind the Somalian pirates, Geiom is cruising the sunny waters of the Indian Ocean when he picks up a distress signal on his scanner. He follows the signal until he locates a tiny remote island and a guy called Bowly, who said that he was on his way from France to the New World, but got totally lost. Judging by the age of the map he was using its easy to see how. Bowly spent his time on the island hanging out with the locals who amuse themselves by creating a unique style of music on some amazing handcrafted instruments. Geiom helps Bowly get on his way again, and leaves him with a more useful map. Some months later, Bowly beams over his music as a gift from his new found homeland in Canada – the tracks are like some strange mutation of those distant tropical players and the UK-based pirate radio transmissions that Bowly has been tuning into – Geiom loves the result and decides to send them straight over to Transition in London for mastering and release on Berkane Sol. DVA006 Dis Boy (DVA’s Hi Emotions Remix) – Cooly G / Scratcha DVA DVA Music 12″ Vinyl
Finish copy promo. The label’s sixth release is no exception. DVA’s remix of Cooly G’s ‘Dis Boy’ turns an already seductive track into a spaced-out dream: in the place of Cooly’s stripped down production it’s got all the psychedelic electronic subtleties and twists you might expect to hear in a Berlin techno tune, but actually brings her sophisticated vocal melodies more to the fore than the original version. The rhythm’s syncopations, meanwhile, move along in lazy leaps as if dancing in lowered gravity. Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 perform a similar job of total transformation on DVA’s own ‘Jelly Roll’. They play the original’s cheeky, cheery melody backwards, forwards, sideways and upside-down, bouncing it off itself in a hall of audio mirrors and allowing glassy synths to slide between the beats and bass. It’s a strange, slightly sinister and intoxicating reworking – one to get lost in. Bonus track ’32Da4′ is something else entirely; as you may guess from the title it’s in 3 time – a bizarre, slithering dubstep waltz that flows out of the speakers and around itself in unique style. Lesser producers would build whole movements on such an innovative tune, but for DVA it’s just another step in a compelling musical evolution.

These tracks have been causing quite a stir…So tantalisingly disgusting that the likes of Rusko, Sukh Knight, NType, Doctor P, Flux Pavillion, Jakes and Trolley Snatcha can’t leave it alone! Eddie K is no newcomer to the dance music scene. Starting out as a drum and bass producer, his debut releases made an impact amongst the scene with tracks such as Planet Terror and My Sound remaining in DJs bags to date. More recently, Ed’s been making a significant entry into the dubstep world. His first dubstep release on H.E.N.C.H (Who’s the Hardest / The Shivers) had big reactions from all of the top names in the scene, which led up to his next release; his dubstep remix of DJ Prime Cuts ft. MC Dynamite – Warning, released on DSR at the end of 2009. This reached #2 in the Beatport dubstep download chart and recently featured in the latest instalment of Xbox’s ‘Crackdown’ franchise. His latest release sees him collaborate with Hench youngster, Minus, along with emphatic appearances by London-based vocalist, Beezy, and Bristol’s Shadz. If this release doesn’t serve as a tribute to the different directions dubstep has taken within recent years, then it certainly acts as proof that Eddie K’s sound and production skills have matured quicker than we could have anticipated.
A: SERIAL KILLA (FT. BEEZY & MINUS) – You might well have heard about Serial Killa before hearing the track itself. Arriving just in time to establish itself as a summer dancefloor destroyer, many a raver will soon be witnessing the floor shake when this one gets dropped. Beezy’s twisted hook line cuts short the euphoric intro and lets loose to a siren-like bassline. This is the kind of track that will have the neighbours pulling the curtains shut and calling the Police.
AA: STARLIGHT – A favourite of the D Style camp, Eddie K takes us on his maiden voyage into this aspect of dubstep production. Touching on the techno-tinged, atmospheric vibes similar to Komonamuk’s ‘You Fo’ release early in 2010, ‘Starlight’ is a track that would sit as comfortably in Laurent Garnier’s bag as any dubstep DJ’s. Forward thinking and high-paced the echoey background and sub bass contribute to creating one of the Hench imprint’s deepest tracks to date.

O4H002 Cant Stand The Rain – Silverman One4Ho 12″ Vinyl

As with most things, the most interesting things happening in the monolith of a genre that is dubstep are happening at the fringes. cinematic second release for the brand new Berlin label One4Ho. Borrowing syncopation concepts from other genres and combining them with eerie vocal samples, One4Ho creates a mixture of dubstep that’s almost new genre in itself Using the mournful vocal and drip-drop sample from Ann Peebles’ track of the same name, the wobble in ‘Can’t Stand The Rain’ sounds like a massive industrial turbine in some torrential dystopian deluge. Dark, heavy and relentless. This tune has been receiving play from the likes of Falty DL, Starkeyand Clark, who also provides a soul crunching remix that seems to flip the original track’s concept of memory, love and loss into a 3 and a half minute masterpiece of dream like emotional manipulation.

A. Azure (F Remix) – Kicking things off is F with a outstanding recreation of Jus Wan’s already classic ‘Azure’. A sneaking intro builds on the original pads before dropping into a steady snare. Growling bass slowly sneaks into the picture and drops into and perfect blend of rough & smooth. F has taken an already great tune and kept the integrity of the original, while giving it his own signature flavour. Classic remix!
AA. Avoid The Noid (Headhunter Remix) – Another man who needs no introduction has graced us with a superb remix of DJG’s ‘Avoid The Noid’. Headhunter takes things very deep with a thumping 4/4, deep house kind of affair. A deep kick keeps the pace with deep low end that will work out any sound system. One of most innovative producers in the Drum & Bass and electronic music scene, Sam KDC display a depth and psychedelic mood. stunningly beautiful music as opposed to simply ‘drum & bass’. Sam explains ‘The 12″ is a really special one to me, both the tunes reflect some really deep rooted memories and feelings of mine. I used to feel like that as a kid listening to Pink Floyd, especially at the beginning of “Comfortably Numb”, something else that was very influential to this piece. The other side, “Perish” is a really personal to me. I finished it and loved it but didn’t want to send it to anyone. It was my housemate at the time, Frank, that convinced me to show it to others, not through what he said, but the fact he asked me for a copy of it and I used to come home and I’d hear it blasting out of his room and he doesn’t even like DnB, so that was a sign to me for that one… The first vocal right at the beginning says “I feel safe with you” and that was something that was missing in my life at the time, and in truth, still is… I called it “Perish” because I sampled a home video from a couple of years ago that I wanted gone, I got rid of the video once I’d taken the audio from it and so it was like that moment in my life was trapped in that piece of music, with all other remaining context of it lost… Perished… taken from:

Two of the most talked about producers of recent times, June Miller & Anile, join forces to devastating effect for DSM016, and together they have crafted the darkest release to grace Deep Soul Music so far. This is the first of many tunes from these two as they have developed a close working relationship with their complimentary sounds and styles and they will be gracing DSM with plenty more of their music in the future.
Whilst many have tried to jump on the ‘minimal’ bandwagon and to imitate others styles, ‘Glass of Greed’ is the perfect demonstration of how stripped back, half-step d&b should be done. A pounding kick drum, a deep snarling bass line and sinister vocal snippet all combine to create an aggressive, moody atmosphere similar to that of old Renegade Hardware tracks but with a new twist for 2010. This has been causing carnage on dancefloors the world over, and if Satan himself listened to drum & bass, he would listen to this….
‘Induction’ sees Anile go it alone, and the man himself has even said this is one of his personal favourites of the tracks he has produced. Stripped back to very fundamentals of the genre, you can hear elements of his trademark half-step sound but with the rolling drums and big bass, this is one of Anile’s more dancefloor orientated efforts and judging by the reaction from dj’s and ravers alike, he has got the formula just right.

RAMP032 Idiot Box – P.U.D.G.E Ramp Recordings 12″ Vinyl x 2
Although you may not have yet heard his name, P.U.D.G.E. has been bubbling up in U.S. beat scene for many years. At age 9, his father gave him a Bass, a Juno synth, a DX drum machine and a Tascam 4 track. He encouraged the boy to start making his own music; P.U.D.G.E. got the bug. By the time young P.U.D.G.E. (thus called because at school he was always extra medium, or less than chubby) hit 13, he had discovered turntableism, and started DJing at house parties around NYC. By his late teens, he had emerged as a promising emcee, standing next to many of the well-known emcees from the Lyricist Lounge; including Mos Def & El P. Still producing, P.U.D.G.E.’s music was starting to gain attention, and his first beat was released on the Vinyl Junkies debut EP. After hearing about the emerging beat scene in L.A., he moved there in 2004, and started getting a few production credits under his belt, including cuts for Rawkus Records and Stacey Epps. After circulating some of his instrumental beat tapes, interest for P.U.D.G.E. started to gain momentum. Early this year, P.U.D.G.E. headed up All Cty’s L.A. series, on a split 10” with Dibiase, preceeding releases from Ras G, Samiyam & Matthewdavid.

‘Let’s Talk’ is a slow burning, ocean deep house tune that capitalizes on the warm punch of the constant kick drum. Driven on by echoed melody snatches, pulsing synthesizer stabs and a husk entombed voice that waxes lyrical about forthcoming plans its unsettling mood is, somewhat surprisingly, it’s optimum strength. ‘Vicodin’ turns the tempo up to a more recognizable dubstep pace but manages to sound totally unique and overtly fresh thanks to its use of intricate percussion and beatless structure. Matthew Gonsalves, known as Matty G to the world of music, is a pioneer of the US dubstep scene. Since his debut release on the Argon imprint in 2006, Matty has ceaselessly pushed his unique brand of hip hop inspired, 808 bass workouts, that have been destroying clubs the world over. His 2007 release ‘50, 000 Watts’ shook up the scene with its stripped down breaks and punishing subs, finding its way into the bag of just about every DJ worth his salt, becoming something of an instant classic. Its profound influence on the scene is still being felt today, and it has become one of those tracks that people are still searching Discogs to get hold of, at any price. His 2008 LP, ‘Take You Back,’ cemented his placing in the flourishing dubstep scene, exploring his diverse musical influences and amalgamating the sounds of hip hop, funk, soul, reggae and jungle into a 140bpm template. It still remains one of the most accomplished albums to have been made in the scene. After linking up with Dub Police head honcho Caspa, who remixed his massive ‘West Coast Rocks’ for Argon, he has recently officially joined the Dub Police crew, the fruits of which we will see over the coming months.

The mix features all the tracks on the E.P. and upfront dubplates from V.I.V.E.K It comes on the back of his first Medi release last year ‘Kulture’ b/w ‘Meditation Rock’ and countless dubplates that you’ll no doubt have heard if you’ve checked the Anti Social Entertainment on Rinse FM. Fusing digidub, sound system deep bass, rolling percussion, a hint of Berlin techno it all adds up to those ‘Medi’ style vibes; eyes down, blissed out, heavy weight music.
The title track, ‘Feel It’ kicks things off in fine style with some of the most infectious rolling tablas – his percussion is just sublime. A vocal sample declaring the weight of your bass and the largeness of your soundsystem is all the track needs to usher in a chest thumping sub sonic bass tone and there is no way back you’re sucked into that soup of sub bass frequencies. ‘Grandfather Clock’ counts down to a dance floor meltdown when the metronome-like sample, half tempo drum patterns and hefty bass melts into blazing techno buzzes that just keep coming, it’s those killer synths that make it, truly coming from nowhere.
The deeply blissful ‘Motherland’ is one for the meditative crew, subtle but weighty bass pulses roll off half stepping rhythms, tablas and all that good stuff all accented with Indian vocals instrumentation. It’s so deep, minimal it would make Youngsta proud. The final track ‘Strategy’ is a roller with a garage kind of swing to it, it skips along with big room dub techno chords twisting in and out of the bumpy beats it really comes alive and picks up the pace. Pure vibes all the way.

16MOHM Refuse; Start Fires – Scorn Ohm Resistance 12″ Vinyl x 2
Finish copy. Scorn’s fourteenth full length release remains in the vibe and tempo of modern dubstep while adding a brand new element to the Scorn sound: a live drummer, Ian ‘Yan’ Treacy. The vibrant sounds of the kit are run thru the filters and dub wizardry of Mick Harris, former drummer of Napalm Death and Guinness World Record Holder for composer of the world’s shortest song. The tracks are a journey into dark atmospheres and atomic warhead bass, with more variation and hue than 2007′s ‘STEALTH’. Yet on ‘Refuse; Start Fires’ Harris has returned to painting angry pictures with more colours than simply black – the record takes on new territory at the 70 bpm mark, and the live kit gives the tracks a more fluid groove than ever in places. But this is Scorn, and Scorn delivers darkness and anger like no one else, with merciless cuts such as Bear Felt Nowt and Shitwind’s A-Coming providing harsh atmospheres and endurance test bass wobble like only Mick Harris can dish out. Scorn is an entity – for over 15 years Mick Harris has not relented with the project’s dubbed out beats, film noir atmospheres, and over the top bass compulsions. ‘Refuse; Start Fires’ is perhaps the angriest and most well articulated of his projects in the last decade.

NONPLUSCD001 Nothing Is Certain – ASC Nonplus Records CD
Since his first appearance on Nonplus, ASC has been hard at work on his LP and its finally here. Starting with a 12” sampler he dives right in at the deep end with ‘Phobos’ in which electronic grooves and micro samples entwine against a backdrop of dramatic tones and industrial hits. Followed on the same side by the atmospheric hiatus ‘Oort Cloud’ you have a good inclination of the impending album by now, but are also treated to the AA-side ‘Matter Of Time’. Like a continuation of his debut Nonplus 12” track ‘Porcelain’, his crafty use of oriental sounding percussion, windlike sounds and melodies combined with an efficacious bass line make this track very hard to listen to in its entirety before you reach for the reset. The album touches on many genres from start to finish such as the 4×4 offering of ‘Textura’, or the almost indescribable step of ‘Yatta’, but one common theme that this album holds throughout is the amalgamation of influences derived from all genres of music and ASC’s ability to combine these to create something new and unique.

The album touches on many genres from start to finish such as the 4×4 offering of ‘Textura’, or the almost indescribable step of ‘Yatta’, but one common theme that this album holds throughout is the amalgamation of influences derived from all genres of music and ASC’s ability to combine these to create something new and unique.

One of most innovative producers in the Drum & Bass and electronic music scene, Sam KDC display a depth and psychedelic mood.stunningly beautiful music as opposed to simply ‘drum & bass’. Sam explains ‘The 12″ is a really special one to me, both the tunes reflect some really deep rooted memories and feelings of mine. I used to feel like that as a kid listening to Pink Floyd, especially at the beginning of “Comfortably Numb”, something else that was very influential to this piece. The other side, “Perish” is a really personal to me. I finished it and loved it but didn’t want to send it to anyone. DSM014 The Visitor – Data Deep Soul Music 12″ Vinyl
The first DSM release of the new decade sees them continue to push leftfield, forward thinking drum & bass. 2009 was big year for Data with releases on Revolution, Horizons, premier dubstep label Tempa aswell as the mighty Metalheadz and for his first release of 2010 he returns to DSM with two tracks that cement his reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative producers in drum & bass at the moment. ‘The Visitor’ sees him come with a slightly different style than his previous releases with the stripped back, stepping intro giving way to skipping high hats that drive the track forward and a monstrous distorted Reese bassline reminiscent of late 90’s techstep. For the AA side he teams up with newcomer Kingsin for ‘Baggage’, and it is perhaps Data at his most experimental with sharp, staccato, almost off beat drums and haunting synth lines coupled with a his trademark growling bass. Both sides show a diversity in his production and goes to prove he is not one to stick to any particular style, but rather constantly innovate and push boundaries with his music.

Two collaborative tracks from Quarta 330 and LV, made when the pair met the day after Hyperdub’s fifth anniversary party in November last year. These tunes exemplify the kind of meeting of minds where the best of both producers comes to the surface, as Quarta 330’s 8-bit abstraction and melodic sense contrasts nicely with LV’s characteristic lush figures and shuffling rhythms. ‘Hylo’ finds 8-bit melodies made from rebuilt Gameboys and sonar-like bleeps weaved into the crunchy snap of a reverse drum beat and warm chords, breaking down into a sonorous motif before stepping up the pace once more. It’s an energetic mix of brittle and lush sounds. On the AA side, ‘Suzuran’ is a joint remix of Quarta 330’s own remix of Japanese chiptunes artists Dong. LV places the slurring space pop of the Japanese vocoder vocal melody inside a remix constructed from syncopated drums and offkey bleeping patterns. The results are catchy and alien, as melodic sweetness is juxstaposed with the tension of the setting.

Coming from the musical melting pot that is Bristol England Orphan101’s Blend of four to the floor Dubstep and Techno have brought him fast acclaim and attention of genre impresarios like Appleblim (Apple Pips / Skull Disco), Headhunter (Tempa), Jus Wan (Apple Pips), DJ Pinch (Tectonic) and RSD (Punch Drunk Records) to name but a few.
His wide range of musical tastes have certainly shone through in his productions with labels such as Appleblim’s highly regarded Apple Pips label, British based alternative label Saigon Recordings and Deca Rhythm already signing tracks from him, all due for release in 2010 making this a very busy year for Orphan101. His live DJ sets have gained a reputation on radio and in clubs as a new diverse sound with little or no boundaries to what he will play. His sets do not sound out of place whether it be minimal house, techno or dubstep This approach has recently earned him a residency in Berlin, Bristol and also Apple Pips nights across Europe.

Caspa’s success was no fluke though, in fact you’d be hard pressed to find a harder-working person in the industry, having built up his ever-growing empire from scratch. In 2010 he is a man in demand, off the back of his debut artist album last year “Everybody’s Talking, Nobody’s Listening!” he has remixed the likes of Deadmau5, Depeche Mode, Mike Snow and most recently U.S superstar Ludacris. He’s helped bring through acts such as Emalkay, The Others, D1 and Subscape through his labels Dub Police and Subsoldiers and via his regular sell-out label roster club shows, most notably the pre-mentioned Fabric residency. His DJ schedule is still out of control with an average of 15-20 shows per month, booked up 6-months in advance and this summer the shows are only getting bigger. In June he’ll make his debut at Sonar festival… On the main stage… In between Dizzee Rascal and The Chemical Brothers – things have changed for the boy from Chiswick. And on to “My Style!”, the brand new mix series from Dub Police that once again plans to break the mould of what a dubstep mix can be with a number of acts already being lined up for future editions. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves; this is No.1 and who better to take the controls than the label head honcho Caspa. In the mix he takes us through the full spectrum of dubstep sound with dance floor slayers from the likes of Skream, Emalkay and Doctor P through to the more eclectic sounds of Joy Orbison, D1 and Joker. Of course there’s an untold amount of exclusives to boot, giving fans an early preview of some of the biggest records set to blow up in the summer months, with brand new material from the Dub Police / Subsoldiers camp.
From the 23 tracks selected we see Caspa couple upfront and unheard material with some of the scene’s biggest anthems of the last year with Emalkay’s “When I Look At You’, Joy Orbison’s now classic ‘Hyph Mngo’ and Caspa’s massive remix of Deadmau5 “I Remember” all featuring throughout the mix. There was once a time in drum & bass where to try your hand at other genres was practically an insult to the staunch elitism of the genre. Drum & bass knew best, and what it knew most preciously of all was to soak up outside influences like a sponge, then regurgitate them in its own 170-ish-bpm breakbeat style – with an added middle finger to anyone who dared question the futurethinking outlook of the protagonists involved.
Now, more than a decade since artists like Ed Rush & Optical, Source Direct and Matrix were hailed as the sonic beat scientists of the millennium, it’s become trendy to mash together a whole bunch of genres and styles all under one artist alias roof. Chase & Status made dubstep and drum & bass spiritual and literal
dancefloor partners in just a few swift moves and Sub Focus turned his hand to bassline house alongside classic jungle and technoelectro infused D&B on his recent self-titled debut album. Meanwhile Annie Mac has practically made an institution amongst dance music fans by splicing together all styles with a common theme – incredible, filthy basslines and a cheeky attitude. But amongst all the multi-genre mashing and the come-and-go tunes of the day, it can be hard to pick out something which has a shelf life longer than the next epileptic bassline to quake the local dancefloor or the latest remix from a moribund LFO maniac, slowly descending into blog house madness. However, into that void steps a producer with a history for sticking to his aesthetic guns; a producer who’s not afraid to touch the other side of the genre explosion; a producer who arrives at the party armed with a suitcase full of subtlety and an outlook more akin to the artists of old. Chook is that artist, and The Cocoon, Chook’s debut long-playing project, moves beautifully through drum & bass, minimal techno and stunning ambient soundscapes without pausing for breath. Now, five years since he started Full Force, Chook dlives deeper into his influences, spreading his wings as a producer without resorting to cheap tricks and sheep-like trend following. From the growling bass of Optimus Prime through to the inchperfect elements of Time Running Backwards and the building, spacious progression of Toontown, The Cocoon is a lesson in staying true to your beliefs and sticking the middle finger to those who dare question your motives. Some might consider that a lost art in drum & bass these days.

SUBTLE013 Tensions – Sub Subtle Audio 12″ Vinyl
Finish copies. Subtle Audio makes it’s return to the vinyl fold with this brand new 3 tracker by Austria’s Sub. Living at high altitude in his native land, it comes as no surprise that these tracks exude an icy sound. “Tensions” is a beautifully delicate piece of D&B. Sharp snares, hi-hats and drifting atmospheres are underpinned by a sub-zero bass sound. Suddenly the beats thicken and become twisted and glitchy. It’s almost as if a frozen lake you were standing on is beginning to crack and give way! “Halleluja” is on the half-speed tip and will not even sound like D&B to most. Choir voices are interrupted by a stepping beat and a shuddering, dirty bassline, offset by a world of icey atmospherics, echoes and feedback. This sound is truly from another planet. “Hydra” is something a little different for Subtle Audio – clocking in at 120bpm but it certainly doesn’t sound like house or techno! It’s a nicely mellow track with a lurching, jerky beat that is filtered and reversed but always rhythmical. Dark Rhodes keys and then a bright piano line ensure a nice variance of mood in this beautifully balanced piece.

MEDI024 Protecting Hands Remixes – Clouds Deep Medi Musik 12″ Vinyl
Following on from the highly acclaimed original productions ‘Protecting Hands (Parts 1 and 2)’ released mid-2009 on DEEP MEDi Musik, Clouds have enlisted Berkane Sol’s label owner Geiom and experimental electronic minimalists Isan to dissect and rebuild. Kamal Joory AKA Geiom has been busy producing since the late 90’s pushing the downtempo and ambient sounds of IDM and merging them with his love of raw grime and garage instrumentals. In 2006 Geiom started the ever-reliable Berkane Sol imprint releasing his own work (most notable the stunning ‘Reminssin’ featuring Marita) but also giving Brackles and Shortstuff their first outing on wax. Geiom’s remix of ‘Protecting Hands’ sketches out a dreamy, beautiful half-step approach with his love of electronica clearly coming heavily in to play, complimenting the original ghostly vocal perfectly. One of his best productions we think? Isan have been making minimalistic electronics since the mid 90’s with killer releases on Morr Music and Static Craven. Clouds are clearly fans of their work and this comes across in their remix as they dissect the original and create a blissful, beatless journey, permitting the sound to develop organically, with their intuitive grasp of melody and their intelligent manipulation of sound dictating its direction.
