New D&B CD

DRPLP003CD – Dom & Roland – The Big Bang LP – CD
Dom of Dom & Roland needs no introduction. With his Roland sampler, he has been at the apex of drum and bass since the mid 90ʻs. One of the original pioneers of the techstep sound. NME once called him the George Lucas of the scene, due to his unfaltering ability to provide the listener with an auralʼgasm of epic soundscapes inspired by the visuals of a thousand sci-fi movies. The Big Bang will be his fifth album and builds upon a sturdy framework of singles, albums and remixes going right back to when he was signed to Moving Shadow with itʼs now legendary cult status. His previous album credits read like a whoʼs who of electronic music and have featured collaborations with creative masterminds like Optical, Matrix, Hive, Rob Playford, Noisia and Amon Tobin. This album being completely solo is a departure from his previous four. In Domʼs own words “Apart from being something Iʼve never done before, I wanted to get back to what I originally loved about DnB back in the late 90ʼs and turn it into something more modern whilst retaining full control of the creation myself. I was also interested to see if there was still a place for the kind of dirty funk that Iʼm into in todays ultra clean digital world” So what do you get? “Epic Lucusʼesque monsters” Flux and Enforced , “Tearouts” 2097 and Paralax, “Steppers” Cigars n Money and Terminate , “Neurofunkin” Nostradamus, Capsicum and Footnotes, “Rollers” Dune and Raptor and not forgetting a Dom trademark “Vocal Amen Smasher” Electric Smile VIP. It covers all bases of the music that has made Dom what he is today and if todays current big name DJʼs are to be believed, it will be remembered as one of his best. You only have to search for the youtube video of DJ Marky “broking out” to Enforced which he played as his last tune at Global Gathering this year to see the impact this album will have this year and for the years to come.

PRSPCTCD002 – Eye-D & DJ Hidden – Peer to Peer Pressure – CD
When you say Eye-D & Hidden you can only think of 3 things.. Devastating kicks, ear shattering snares and chest rattling subs. These 2 pioneers of the hard styled DnB have been at it for more than 10 years already releasing together, separate or under their alias ‘The Outside Agency’ on countless labels already. But now finally their very first album entitled ‘Peer to Peer Pressure’ sees the light of day. The opening track ‘Ascender’ sets the tone perfectly, it lifts you up only to let you plummet to your death and scream for your life when ‘Battlefield’ kicks in. The menacing drop and drum patterns will destroy anything that comes in his path without remorse so brace yourself for impact.’Chemical Dreams’ soothes the wounds of eardrum devastation with its epic post apocalyptic attitude and ribcage shaking subs. Then it’s off to the ‘Beholder’ a BPM shifting, genre style fusing roller which will leave you wondering for ages to come. ‘Instinct’ offers a different taste to the mix and shows the industrial side to the duo but drenched in melancholy. If things are already turning for the worst then there is only 1 thing that can make it worse and that’s ‘Rain’. When this one kicks in a shower of drums and kicks are hurled at you at the speed of light, so you better prepare yourself. ‘Speed Bump’ shows that they can flow in any way they want to.. So this one comes equipped with a destructive Dubstep breakdown for the crossover crew and switches back with maximum rolling effect. Then last but not least for the vinyl package is ‘Time Device’ .. Eye-D & Hidden turn to a drumstep tip that will wreck any system to smithereens in mere seconds. A beat with so much destruction should be illegal in every country. For the CD owners we got 3 exclusive tracks ‘Transformer’, ‘Highways’ and ‘Break You’!

BMT006 – Blu Mar Ten – Problem Child / Sweet Little Supernova – 12″ Vinyl
This September Blu Mar Ten release the second single from their much-anticipated new album project ‘Love is the Devil’.Problem Child: Fusing the classic Virus sound with Blu Mar Ten’s inimitable ethereal production ‘Problem Child’ is cross-scene classic finding its way into a wide range of sets, from D Bridge and London Elektricity to Hype and Nicky Blackmarket. A deceptively sedate intro of choirs and strings gives way to a rollout full of howling mid-range and sub basses, interspersed with phrases of pure distortion all gliding over a set of sleazily funky breaks. Watch out for the rollercoaster reese on the second drop, guaranteed to send any club potty.Sweet Little Supernova: In stark contrast, ‘Sweet Little Supernova’ showcases the talents of Rochelle Parker who delivers a Cocteau Twins-esque vocal over Blu Mar Ten’s dense music. An acoustic percussion line underpins a pulsing set of basslines while a soaring mix of organic & synthetic instrumentation weaves around the unearthly vocal, providing a clear feminine counterpoint to ‘Problem Child’s resolutely masculine approach. With resident designer ithinkitsnice on artwork duties Problem Child / Sweet Little Supernova is a clear indication of the quality to be expected from the forthcoming Love Is The Devil LP.Blu Mar Ten receive regular DJ support from: Marky, London Elektricity, Doc Scott, Futurebound, Teebee, Instra:mental, D Bridge, Hype, John B, Logistics, Ed Rush, Marcus Intalex, Utah Jazz, Nicky Blackmarket, Makoto, Spectrasoul ,Simon Bassline Smith, Mutated Forms, Randall, Kasra, Ulterior Motive, B Complex, Apex, SPY, Craggz, DKay, Seba, Loxy, Ink, Lynx, John B, Data, Nerm & D-Kode, Jaydan, Annie Nightingale, Crissy Criss, Mosus, A Sides, Tom Middleton, ASC, State of Mind, Lomax, Alleycat, Big Bud and many more

DMND006 – LSB – Subdued / Beep – 12″ Vinyl
In 2011 Swiss run Demand Records has proven something that hundreds of start-up labels every year fail to: that you can start a successful record label from scratch without compromising on the quality of the music. In an ocean of mediocre imprints and teeth-grating noise slapped together on home studio set ups, this label demands more – and the support they’ve received from Brookes Brothers, DJ Hype, DJ Marky, Netsky, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, the mighty UKF Drum & Bass channel and more is proof positive that Demand Records is doing something right. Their next release sees them do something else right, sign a single from Luke Beavon a.k.a LSB. Having released sporadically since 2002, LSB is hardly new to the game, but this year sees him at his production best with a fresh set of releases. Straight out of the box is ‘Subdued’, an impeccably produced slice of melancholic drum & bass that Kiss FM’s DJ Hype describes as “Ice cold”.Gradually building and growing, this is a track that slowly creeps its way into your head and then doesn’t let go. Gentle bass trickery and sweeping atmospherics are the order of the day and this one is sure to provide a momentary moment of calm amongst the D&B minutia. ‘Beep’ doesn’t disappoint either as LSB creates an equally good, but altogether different, vibe. Tiny scatterings of drums are underlain with percussive energy that roll the track along as expertly placed sound effects intersperse with precision and a deep and deadly sub bass ensures people’s ribcages will be rattling.

CLS016 – Komatic – Rectified / The Initiated – 12″ Vinyl

More recently Komatic started his own show at Basdrive for the heads all over the world. The fact that Komatic has been a dj has been really helpfull in his production carreer and can be heard straight away when listened to the first beats on the CLS016. Rectified is a super dj-friendly tune, with rolling beats, nice vocal vibes and bad bass lines. A must have for the Celsius crowd that likes to bust some moves on the dancelfoor. The flip called The Initiated is on a deeper tip, but still very dancefloor friendly though. Deep rolling bassline sets the pace!

SCULT005 – Intiman feat. Foreign Beggars – Hit That – 12″ Vinyl
The whole project started during a festival in Rome called Get Numb, where Foreign Beggars were invited as headliners. The producers Intiman and Maztek were both present in the same line up.The Foreign Beggars were picked up at the airport, and thus started a one day odyssey to carry the band around Rome. After a quick radio interview they all jumped in the studio and they came out with this brand new tune on an Intiman instrumental. http://youtu.be/W_zj-XIIT7kAfter a few weeks of studio work the original version was ready, Maztek was called to check what was going on and he started to work on a massive dnb remix, which is a mix between breakbeat and Drum & Bass perfect to change the music style while playing live and he decided to release it on Subculture, his own label. This release is the single of the new Maztek Album called ‘back to the new era’ which will be a mix of different styles from dubstep to dnb featuring many mcs from Mc coppa to 2shy and mc Temper http://youtu.be/XTqO_4hy8QsThe Maztek remix was featured on Bailey BBC1 extra ahow and it is supported so far by Ed Rush, N-phect, Future Signal, Btk, Metrik, Blokhe4d, State of Mind, Cause 4 Concern, Optiv, Prolix, Kano, Renegade Hardware label and many more.

MEDI045 – Cyrus – Visions – 12″ Vinyl
Cyrus is a true pioneer and veteran of the Dubstep scene and has been around since its inception releasing various singles from as far back as 2004 on Pinch’s Tectonic label, Southside Dubstars, Distance’s mighty Chestplate label and of course his own imprint Random Trio Productions under Random Trio and Cyrus. Cyrus’s album ‘From The Shadow’s’ on Tectonic released in 2007 was one of the first Dubstep long players and featured stone cold Dubstep minimal classic ‘Indian Stomp’ which was also picked up and featured in hit Hollywood movie ‘Children of Men’ alongside Digital Mystikz and Kode9. 3024015 – Instra:mental / Trevino – Pyramid / Chip – 12″ Vinyl
Fresh from the pleasures of introducing Jon Convex to the world, 3024 heads off on a pair of tangents for the next project. The 14th release marks the label’s first split 12″ – a result of 2 tracks falling in to their collective lap that were too good to wait for individual releases. Despite the 2 very different acts involved, the symmetry in both musical background and production methodology makes for a record as coherent as any in the label’s back catalogue, with both artists closely linked to both 3024 and Martyn’s career.Filling up the first side is the ever-evolving four-legged analogue Hoover that is Instra:mental, with a raucous victory lap following on from their widely acclaimed ‘Revolution 653’ album, and the two members’ warmly received solo endeavors as Boddika (aka Alex Green) and Jon Convex (aka Damon Kirkham). Less an example of the icy metallic Instra:mental sound showcased on their debut long player and more a collaboration between the combined talents of their respective monikers, ‘Pyramid’ takes the Decepticon strut of Green’s solo work and grafts it seamlessly to the EBM aesthetic of the initial wave of ‘Convexations,’ to form an undulating monster of sub-low Atari evoking murk and swing. The flip-side is home to the debut work of the new alias from a DJ/producer who’s integral to 3024′s formation, an artist as at home on the golf course as he has been at raves throughout the last few decades. In contrast to the deliberate pulse of ‘Pyramid’, the man no one knows as Trevino introduces himself to the wider world with ‘Chip.’ An urgently paced update of the cybernetic warehouse sound beloved of Northern England at the turn of the 90′s, ‘Chip’ is instantly evocative of the finest early Warp releases in both its floor friendliness and cunning melodic turns. The increasingly talked about Erosie takes time out from some soon-to-be-revealed new projects, and graces 3024-015 with another sleeve in his resiliently inimitable style.

MLTMR001 – EVM128 – Groove Content EP – 12″ Vinyl
Ross Allen’s Meltdown Music Recordings is kick-starting into life with this stunning mini album/EP from Welsh native and production talent EVM. EVM’s music holds a fine balance between the contemporary and the classic, between UK garage, broken hip-hop, and the vibe of reggae, house and soul, wrapped in velvety production and a technical style all of his own. Title track ‘Groove Content’ has been a mainstay on Ross’s weekly Ministry of sound show for six months, and it’s now in the hands of Gilles Peterson who has already hailed it as a ‘classic,’ supporting it on his BBC Radio 1 show and tearing it up on the main stage at this years’ Sonar Festival. Huw Stephens of Radio 1 also made EVM’s remix of DJ Vadim’s ‘Elope’ his Record of The Week back in Sept 2010. The other tracks on the EP are of a more down beat nature but equally as inspiring; from the Dilla-esque, tech-hop of ‘Falling’ (which features EVM’s vocal talents), to the vocodered groove of The ‘Slow Jam’ and the teched out boom-bap of ‘D N A.’ Liverpudlian vocalist Amy Wilson features and writes on the track ‘Stay,’ a reggae-inflected garage gem, plus the more forward thinking ‘U Want More.’ It’s a diverse EP; Short and sweet and super catchy.

RS1108 – Blawan – What You Do With What You Have – 12″ Vinyl
Blawan returns to R&S with a superb new single. What You Do With What You Have is another step up for the young producer, following the Bohla EP and his huge Getting Me Down white label. It takes a fundamental message from some KDJ spoken word and twists it through submerged acid lines, trademark driving percussion and classic techno stabs. The way he works the vocal is simply amazing, and validates the fact that “It ain’t what you got, it is what you do with what you have.”Vibe Decorium on the flip is another twisted piece of acid house put through the Blawan blender, marking him out as one of the best producers around right now. As Mary Anne Hobbs says ‘He really is my favourite producer of the moment’. She has played What you Do… four weeks in a row ‘It is just such an inspired, raw and primal piece of work’.

Hip Hop vocals by Real Fake MC say it loud and clear: always fuck on the first night! On the flip, Zimo’s remix is yet another surprise. Canadian producer succeeds in mixing dubstep and fidget in the same track, building brand new bridges between genres. The result is a funky fresh crossover that will leave you quite astonished and wondering what you just heard, while dancing crazy before you know. So as The Real Fake MC says again : dont make me wait and get that piece of vinyl asap!Video TEASER : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Epqt2Gzqa30

SMOKE015 – Versa / Versa and Rowl – 5AM – 12″ Vinyl
Smokin Sessions are back with an outstanding new signing “Versa”! Born in Milton Keans and recently settling in Manchester, one of the biggest hubs in the Dubstep scene, Versa is no stranger the studio. This boy is only 20 years of age, but it sounds like he has been making beats for an eternity! 2 step beats lace his tracks with soulful frequencies overlaying what can only be described as genius. It’s one of the first tunes we are now promoting from new boy Versa, but mark my words, this is only the beginning! A massive shout goes out to Rowl as well for the collaboration on “Soul”. Watch out for this ICU boy as well, big things to come!
