Instra:mental have completed their debut album and there’s no better home for it than their own firmly established label Nonplus+. Having made a name for themselves over the last few years as avant-garde, forward thinking producers who set trends instead of following, they lay down a full length album showcasing where their productions are at now rather than being a summary of where they’ve come from.
For over two decades, no one had pushed the legacy of bass culture like the stalwart for the deeper end of the spectrum, Marcus Intalex. And yet, despite his storied back catalog of scene-defining releases, genre-crossing remixes, and even a revolutionary LP with M.I.S.T. and calibre (as Mist:ical), the music world has never been graced with a solo album from the innovator himself. Until now, 21 years in.
Mala’s DEEP MEDi Musik label are readying the launch of a new single by (at this point in time) unknown artist(s)(?) Old Apparatus.
Nothing is known about this production outfit right now but the MEDi camp has unleashed a taster mix onto their website which should shed a little more light as to who is behind the music and the rather surreal imagery.
Whether throwing down techno-informed steppers for Tempa or creating juke-fuelled hysteria around crustaceans for Loefah’s Swamp81 imprint, Headhunter (and his Addison Groove alias) always brings a startling level of sophistication to his productions. These two cuts bear the same high standards while also revealing a little more about his sonic palette.
[Nakedlunch] are proud to present their next release which features two tracks from an artist causing quiet a stir at the moment… Boddika. Boddika is better known as AL Bleek who is one half of the duo Instra:mental. Both tracks are far removed from the sound Instra:mental are known for but maintain that analogue warmth and punch which is missing from much of todays music.
“I knew straight away that this was a sound that would fit perfectly in Bristol – there is a lot of tension in the music that carries a satisfactory darkness with it, but it’s also lazy music. You don’t have to dance hard to move with it – it was born with a reefer in its gob!”
Mala, one half of Digital Mystikz, the legendary London based producer, responsible for launching the DMZ label and Brixton based raves will be releasing his debut LP very soon.
Details are still relatively slim, but suffice to say the impact this release will cause will ripple far and wide, there’s not many labels in the world who’s release schedule is as discussed and mulled over as the mighty DMZ’s.
Due to popular demand we’re pleased to announce that the critically acclaimed Kryptic Minds LP “One Of Us”, released on Loefah’s label ‘Swamp 81′ will see a limited edition 3×12″ vinyl version sometime in May.
