Following on from the release of his ‘Symmetry’ LP, Break is set to raise the bar again this November with a second LP, ‘Resistance’, released on his own label ‘Symmetry Recordings’.

Break launched Symmetry Recordings in 2006, honing and refining his sound with a string of acclaimed singles before releasing ‘Symmetry’ in 2008. Featuring forays into ambient, dubstep, funk, hip hop, house and soul amongst an arsenal of sure-fire drum & bass, ‘Symmetry’ earned Break an army of new fans beyond D&B and saw tracks picked up by the likes of techno legends Laurent Garnier and Josh Wink, while tunes such as ‘Is This What You Want’ and ‘Traits’ have continued to remain staples in the sets of the D&B elite.

Two years on and Break is releasing his second long player; ‘Resistance’. Featuring collaborations with No U-Turn mastermind Nico, Bristol’s DJ Die, production super-duo Calyx & Teebee, DNAudio cohorts Silent Witness and Survival, Shogun Audio’s SpectraSoul and vocalists Kyo and SP:MC, the album offers a glorious journey through the spectrum of Break’s styles and influences, following in the same vein as its predecessor but pushing the envelope further still.

With barely a third of the album unveiled it is already receiving heavy support from pioneers such as Goldie, Andy C and LTJ Bukem, ‘Resistance’ is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases yet this year.

Few musical acts can lay claim to such dynamic and consistent evolution as Blu Mar Ten. Formed in the big-bang of 90’s drum & bass and regular faces at Rage, Metalheadz, Speed & AWOL, Blu Mar Ten were rapidly spotted by LTJ Bukem and signed to Good Looking Records, cementing their position in the genre as originators of complex, atmospheric music.

They quickly grew and mutated beyond the confines of the jungle into lush experimentation with downtempo, ambient, house, breaks, techno & left-field for labels such as Naked Music, Guidance, Big Chill, with two full albums of non-d&b material on Exceptional Records.

This new material saw Blu Mar Ten gain support from DJs such as Tom Middleton, Rennie Pilgrem, Pete Tong, Felix da Housecat, Ben Watt, Carl Cox, Lee Burridge, Erol Alkan, Howie B and Mary Anne Hobbs.

Blu Mar Ten also remixed a series of major and independent artists, including Erykah Badu, Annie Lennox, Alicia Keys, Terry Lee Brown Junior, Jakatta, The Ananda Project, Doc Scott, Fink and Blame.

2005 saw Blu Mar Ten return to the drum & bass scene, with the next 18 months producing a string of releases on labels such as Hospital, Renegade Hardware, Shogun Audio, 31 Records, Tangent, Phuzion, Vibez & Basement.

2009 has already seen the release of the ‘Close’ and ‘Believe Me’ EPs, preludes to Blu Mar Ten’s long-awaited first full drum & bass album. Scheduled for late 2009, the album promises to deliver an incredibly wide range of drum & bass tracks from the deeply abstract to the unashamedly dancefloor, all bearing Blu Mar Ten’s trademark stamp of quality.

Robin O’Reilly, better known to the world as Big Bud, made his name crafting atmospheric drum & bass for labels likes Fabio‘s Creative Source and LTJ Bukem‘s Good Looking. In recent years though, it’s been all about his own label, Soundtrax, where he’s released a series of outstanding releases from himself and like-minded producers.

‘Connections’ takes in a breathtaking selection of sounds and moods, all with a breezy liquid-funk-esque tinge to them. If you already know Soundtrax output then you won’t be disappointed with this CD. If you’re new to the label; what took you so long?!

From the soulful vocal ‘Want You So Bad’ to the Eastern influenced guitar plucks of ‘White Widow’ this album has something for everyone and Big Bud fans can rest assured that he’s updated his production to modern standards but kept all the dynamics his music lives for.
