Critical music is a UK drum n bass label releasing some of the freshest breaks and beats around. Created and nurtured by Kasra, the imprint has gone from strength to strength over recent years. 2009 has seen this continuing with massive releases such as the Break remix of Spectrasouls “Alibi” and Sabre’s glorious “Original Sin”.
To usher the Autumn in Critical Music are proud to announce the forthcoming release of their latest album project. Following on from the huge All Sounds Electric Series we bring a new concept – “Critical Sound”. 8 tracks from the hottest producers in drum and bass right now housed in a deluxe gatefold 4×12″ vinyl package along with an equally stylish 2xCD gatefold set featuring a total of 19 tracks! If you are one of the new breed of digital DJ who still likes to support vinyl or if you want to get yourself a big treat it’s the musical combo that keeps on giving.
Each track on this album encapsulates all that is great and good about underground drum and bass. From the blissful beat workout of Break’s “People Are Different” to the blistering tech infused funk of Spectrasoul‘s ‘ Wedgehead’. A storming selection of the cream of todays scene.
The CD package combines the vinyl tracks with a whole extra disc of fresh material. Dubstep champ Ramadanman comes with his own brand of stripped down dnb, Russian new kid Enei brings the future flavour and we are privy to the first ever solo production from label boss Kasra with his own track perception.
This is the Critical Sound….

Also hot off the press we have news of the next Subtitles album which is set for release at the end of this year, from none other than Chris SU, following on from his string of hits on Subtitles including Solaris and Solaris VIP, it was only natural that he followed this up with an album, bound to feature his signature sound of melodic yet heavy hitting dancefloor anthems.
A few tracks from the album are already doing the rounds, most notably “First Snow” a track that has been an opener for Teebee’s live sets for a while now. Expect the unexpected on this one.
The first in a short series of releases featuring label head and founder Spirit pairing up with a new signing sees Jubei, Sato & Treez joining the fold with ʻTridentʼ, a mean and moody, dubbed-out roller speckled with echoing vocal licks, growling stabs and deep, pulsating subs. Championed by the likes of Marcus Intalex, Raiden, Survival, Phobia and a host of others, these guys are one to watch having between them scheduled releases for the likes of Metalheadz, Creative Source, Coded Music, Ingredients and CIA Deepkut.
Spirit needs no introduction and ʻSplinterʼ has been on heavy rotation from the likes of Goldie, C4C, Storm, Bailey and Raiden, having already featured on DJ Frictionʼs recently released ʻAssassin Volume 1ʼ mix CD. Enjoy!

‘INNUENDO’ is the debut album from New Zealand’s latest major drum and bass talent TREi. Deftly juxtaposing jump-up dance floor grooves with traditionalist melodic song-writing and the odd touch of Pop arrangement, INNUENDO’s divergent sonic landscape stays grounded through the common threads of decidedly futurist synthetic soundscapes and chest pounding, subwoofer rupturing low-slung bass lines.
Working with the likes of vocalists Lisa Tomlins and Thomas Oliver (of the Thomas Oliver Band) and fellow producer’s State of Mind, Dose, Teknik and Southern Soul, TREi has crafted a cohesive twelve song deep full-listening experience as much driven by hooks and general musicality as explosive drum and bass pressure.
Having previously earned his stripes releasing singles through respected international drum and bass record labels like Klute’s Commercial Suicide, DJ Friction’s Shogun Ltd, Black Sun Empire’s Obsessions and featured on key collaborations with The Upbeats, State of Mind and Dose, ‘INNUENDO’ has served as a finishing school of sorts for this singular talent.
Delving into sample driven “Bristol Sound” recalling vibes on ‘Shame’, exploring infectious pop rock style hooks on ‘Lead Me On’ (a collaboration with rising New Zealand rock singer Thomas Oliver), roping in legendary local diva Lisa Tomlins to add a touch of the ethereal to his explosive grooves on ‘Still Remains’ and paying homage to the 90s techno scene on ‘Push’ (produced with Southern Soul), with ‘INNUENDO’, TREi makes his artistic intent crystal clear, in the process proving himself worthy of rank alongside the divergent upper echelons of talent within the international music community.
