Coming soon – Craggz & Parallel “Turn The Page” LP [Product]

Posted 04 August 2010 | By | Categories: news, player, tracks | No Comments

September signals a welcome return to the scene by two of D&B’s most respected characters, Craggz & Parallel, and it couldn’t have come a moment too soon. Since releasing their debut ‘Northern Soul’ LP on Valve back in 2006 the pair have stepped back, regrouped and are now ready to come full force with a brand new super-fresh sound that’s sure to raise heads throughout the scene.

Drawing on influences from electronic music past and present from early techno sounds, 80’s synth-pop through to a myriad of contemporary dance music genres, Craggz & Parallel have created a truly unique and daring album sure to quench the most discerning and dance floor tastes whilst challenging the more traditional drum and bass album ideals. Even reverting back to analogue production techniques to combine with the modern creates an experience unlike any other around today so keep you ears open for the genius new sounds of Craggz & Parallel.

Craggz & Parallel

I don’t really say things like this much, but Craggz & Parallel are about to flip D&B on its head…Breakage

Analogue synths, drum machines & +170bpm = Top album. C&P FTW!!dBridge

Craggz & Parallel have taken a bold step towards a much deeper, more mature and personal sound; locking themselves away for 2 years has resulted in a truly inspirational album that will turn a lot of heads. One of the best releases in 2010 by some way, this definitely gets the Flight seal of approval.” DJ Flight

Coming soon – Quest “Smooth Skin / Wind Tunnel” [DEEP MEDi Musik]

Quest is one of Dubstep’s forerunners signed to DEEP MEDi Musik and one of Antisocial Entertainment originals alongside Silkie, Heny G, Kromestar, Harry Craze, Jay 5 and Mizz Beats. Quest is never one to shout and make a fuss, always quiet and thoughtful but whilst all around are loosing their heads in the madness Quest has directed all his energy in to his production and is always far more at ease at letting his music do the talking.

Quest

Quest’s 4th release on DEEP MEDi ‘Smooth Skin’ showcases his progression, diversity and forward thinking as a producer. With it’s lush and dreamy opening chords, thumping bass kick, layered percussion and hypnotic vibes, you would be forgiven in forgetting about the B-line until it’s speaker shifting impact almost halfway through the track! Quest showing with ‘Smooth Skin’ that he takes as much inspiration from Detroit legends such as Moodymann and Theo Parrish as he does from label owner Mala (DMZ) and his very own Antisocial Entertainment Crew. ‘Wind Tunnel’ however on the flip sees Quest bouncing back to his Gangsta Boogie vibes for which he is so well known. Heavyweight, frenetic breakneck percussion, insane wall of bass, hard soulful and jazzy influences taking you on a mystical journey into outer space!

Orphan101 Bio:

Coming from the musical melting pot that is Bristol England Orphan101’s Blend of four to the floor Dubstep and Techno have brought him fast acclaim and attention of genre impresarios like Appleblim (Apple Pips / Skull Disco), Headhunter (Tempa), Jus Wan (Apple Pips), DJ Pinch (Tectonic) and RSD (Punch Drunk Records) to name but a few.

His wide range of musical tastes have certainly shone through in his productions with labels such as Appleblim’s highly regarded Apple Pips label, British based alternative label Saigon Recordings and Deca Rhythm already signing tracks from him, all due for release in 2010 making this a very busy year for Orphan101.

Orphan101

His live DJ sets have gained a reputation on radio and in clubs as a new diverse sound with little or no boundaries to what he will play. His sets do not sound out of place whether it be minimal house, techno or dubstep This approach has recently earned him a residency in Berlin, Bristol and also Apple Pips nights across Europe.

His current production collaborations include Headhunter, Bloodman Appleblim and Gatekeeper to name just a few, with remix work being picked carefully to fit with his own production roster.

Coming soon, new D&B label: FOOTPRINTS

Coming soon, new D&B label: FOOTPRINTS

Posted 20 January 2010 | By | Categories: misc, news, tracks | 1 Comment

Introducing the new label ‘Footprints’ from Zero Tolerance set to launch in the next few months. Two big first releases to showcase, audio can be found below, first, over to Zero T to introduce the label…..

We at FOOTPRINTS are setting our stall out to provide something we feel has been missing from the zeitgeist for too long now….

That something is “90′s Music”…..yes folks, its been 10 years since the 90s and we for one miss it more than ever. It was a time when music metamorphasized into so many wonderful, radical, heartfelt and completely new forms. Unfortunately, life and culture moves in cycles and i think we can all agree that the “noughties” was a largely forgettable era for ALOT of reasons.

The complete dominance of consumerism in our world has , combined with the Net 2.0 revolution, sucked much the life out of this thing we call music. But every action has an equal and opposite reaction, and if Rage Against The Machine making the UK Christmas No.1 in 2009 is a signal of the backlash, the we at FOOTPRINTS hope to assist this return to an older Ethic:

Motivated from the Heart , not the Wallet.

So, in this new Decade we aim to regularly provide you with music made for your mind AND body, that will shake any building to its foundations but still stand alone as a piece of music, taking you to another place, time or mood when heard in its entirety.

We decided to start as we mean to go on…with a BANG!

FOOTPRINTS debut 12″ features label owner ZERO T and old friend BAILEY (BBC/METALHEADZ) combining to devastatin effect. “Wasp Factory” , as you may have guessed, is not a love song! Currently a favorite of everyone from Goldie, Ed Rush and Optical, Lemonde to Paradox and Loxy….Not for the feint-hearted!

On the flip of this comes a slice of paranoid funk from Belfasts mercurial Genius Calibre , alongside DnB legend ST Files of SOUL:R fame! “Devil Inside” has that familiar Signature/Soul;r roll to it, but the other elements may surprise a few: Dark gliding, filtered Reese bases undulate under a piano line to put a chill down your spine….something different from the norm!

Support from Hype, Fabio, Grooverider, Bryan G, Alix Perez, Spectrasoul, Commix etc..

Following hot on the heels of PRINT001 is PRINT002 :

ZERO T + MOSUS -”Shallow Grave” and BETA 2 – ” Cabin Phever”

ZT and his Kiwi buddy get a bit rowdy this time, with a heavy inspration from the early Virus sound of 1998-99. “Shallow Grave” sneaks in a kicks you in the gut and pounds you like Giant Haystacks!! as the vocal sample states….”.i roam when its dark, and take you to some secret place and bury you” Indeed!

Mr.T decided to keep it in the family , Irish-Style, for the 1st two 12″s. So after old cohort Calibre provided the 1st flip side, next up is Zero’s original colaborative partner BETA 2. Its now 10 years since the pair debuted on 4 HERO’s Reinforced, and a long awaited return to the game from BETA 2 looms large! ” CABIN PHEVER” is classic ‘Blue Note’ buisness, for those that know! Beta tickles the ivories with aplom, plucks the Double Bass and chops a break in a style remeniscent of that ginger Ninja , Rupert Parkes (aka Photek)..Two words:

FILM-NOIR

Heavy support from the likes of Marcus Intalex, Jubei, Ulterior Motive, Bailey, Loxy, Ed Rush etc.

Kokeshi is the new label from Alley Cat, DJ/producer and co-director of ESP Agency with 12 years+ of music industry experience.

Former manager and A&R of the influential drum & bass label Skunkrock Productions, she has commissioned tracks and remixes from the likes of Konflict, Klute, Calibre, and Total Science and was among the first to sign breakthrough talents Beta 2 and Zero Tolerance. Over the years, Alley Cat has also taken on a roving promo role for labels including the legendary Metalheadz.

alleycat

Extensive DJing since 1997 has brought her to over 30 countries worldwide, on over 200 gigs. Her production discography extends back 10 years, with joint releases for Skunkrock and Reinforced. Alley Cat’s first solo release (outside of Kokeshi) is due out in July 2009 on the highly-regarded leftfield label Offshore, together with a stunning dubstep tune by Vaccine on the flipside.
